that poor damn cat
Jan. 13th, 2018 07:32 pmTaro Bun dislocated his kneecap 4 months ago and has had two surgeries to fix it...and this morning he was hobbling again. The vet said the pin they put in his leg to hold his kneecap in place wasn't working so everything kept slipping, which is apparently very rare but my poor dumb cat is just that special. So now we're waiting to get a second opinion on Monday as to what our options for the future are (and apparently one of them is amputation, which sounds terrifying but is apparently not so bad to their quality of life? Still).
On the other hand, Taro's extra adorable right now because he's high as a kite on the good pain meds from the vet.
In other news, drove all the way across the damn city during rush hour yesterday to go eat Pakistani food with coworkers. I...like maybe half of them? The other half I don't actively dislike but really don't have much in common with and/or have personality clashes with. Whatever. I'm old enough to have made peace with not liking everyone and not being liked by everyone in return. Still, an effort was made to participate and improve camaraderie and all that jazz. It counts. The food was absolutely worth it though. Goat was especially good: goat chops were honestly amazing, the goat brains were really flavorful and tender and not weird, the curries were all savory and delicious, there was this melty beef stew thing that was almost Chinese in flavor. The samosa chaat? All so good.
Today I did my first Asia Society volunteering, and it's always nice to get back into that. It was another workshop of Islamic calligraphy, which is still gorgeous in all its languages and fonts. I am ready now to sleep or read, except I can't get my head into "The Dark Days Pact" (sequel to demon-hunting Regency "The Dark Days Club"), so I may switch instead to some tropey m/m or "The Queen of Attolia" first.
Caught up on this week's Fresh Off the Boat and The Good Place and both make me happy. I really am terrible at watching other things though.
Really searching for things to keep me up late on weekends so I don't throw off my sleep schedule. I really just want to go bed at 11pm though! The shift adjustment is rough.
