in the same room as history

Quick trivia question:

Who was the first female U.S. Supreme Court Justice?

The answer is Sandra Day O'Connor.

Now, guess who showed up as a surprise speaker in my Constitutional Law class this morning?

Yes, that would be Justice O'Connor herself. Turns out she's in MO to speak and stopped by our school this morning, because the dean of our law school was one of her law clerks and our ConLaw professor is the only one in the law school who's argued in front of the Supreme Court.

Seriously, how cool is this? Maybe it's the geeky law student in me, but we've been reading Justice O'Connor's opinions in the past few weeks, and she shows up in person! Where else could this happen?

Fucking awesome.

(Even if I disagree with some of her political views/Constitutional interpretations. Still. She made history. So cool.)
