reading plans

I read all of "Six of Crows" yesterday by Leigh Bardugo in one sitting yesterday -- weekends, especially holiday weekends, are really nice to carve out some time to do nothing but read. (Today, I have to run more errands...) It was fun and I liked the characters, though they probably should've been aged up imo. The plot moved fast and I enjoyed the worldbuilding, but the heist billing was overrated. (In that vein I have "The Lies of Locke Lamora", which I have heard about for years but been slow to get to, and "The Palace Job" lined up eventually.) I have a hold on the ebook version of the sequel, "Crooked Kingdom", but it's probably faster to just get a physical copy transferred to my library branch. The difficult thing now about library branches is my new work hours don't so well with them, and the library en route my commute between work and home is difficult to get to through traffic (wrong side of the road, restricted turns, very little parking) and the neighborhood one I prefer is in the opposite direction of work... I'll figure something that works, I'm sure!

Other books on my list to get to:
-The Wicked King by Holly Black
-The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend
-PS I Love You by Jenny Han
-The Governess Game by Tessa Dare
-Heroine Worship by Sarah Kuhn
-Ten Kisses to Scandal by Vivienne Lorret
-Salt Magic Skin Magic by Lee Welch
-A Ferry of Bones & Gold by Hailey Turner
-possibly Jane Doe by Victoria Helen Stone

All women so far! For male authors, I do need to acquire used paperback copies of Barry Hughart's sequels to "Bridge of Birds" (e.g., "The Story of the Stone" and "Eight Skilled Gentlemen"), and will probably at some point reread Terry Pratchett. Last year I distinctly recall reading and only semi-enjoying Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch. There was definitely a male perspective regarding women/hitting on his female partner that I didn't love. And of course there's Oda Eiichiro's rampant and increasing sexism, which is probably the only thing derailing my enjoyment of One Piece. Sigh.
