it's jj style...two years later...

In work news: the Aasif Mandvi program was well attended and well received. A little hectic but we pulled it off to great success! Then I came in for like five hours on Saturday evening to help out Stephanie with a Chinese Consulate General spring concert -- and good thing I did as none of the volunteers showed up. We managed it though, and in the process I got the business card of one of the consuls who work with the ambassador. And got to practice my Mandarin. Today, got in after a vet trip with Taro Bun (annual checkup) and had a weekly meeting with Saleena. We talked upcoming programs and also me trying to wrangle time off for a potential trip to China with family. It exhausts me to even think about working out (visa, flight, hotel) and I guess I should call my parents about it but I don't want to. :| But I should.

In other news: had really good South Indian food last night! Got really into JJ Leroy/Yuri Plisetsky two years after watching Yuri!!! on Ice and really not having strong feelings about it (or the main ship). Otabek/Yuri is still cute, but the JJ/Yuri antagonistic dynamic really just pushes all the right buttons for me. I wish there were more/longer/better fic though. (A perpetual wish for my ships and fandoms.) Still on the waiting list for "Crooked Kingdom" which is taking the library a damn long time to sort out for some reason, but in the meantime picked up David Benioff's "City of Thieves" and a silly mail order bride m/m ebook. Very different tones and genres...

I KonMari-ed my drawers this weekend and they're nice and neat now. But honestly I realize we already tidied up/got rid of most of our extraneous things half a year ago when we moved from The Woodlands down to Houston, so we're mostly in decent shape. Though of course I also immediately bought another blazer and two pairs of work pants and nice black flats for work. But it's nice that she's not about minimalism, per se, just only keeping what you need and truly appreciate. I can work with that.
