girls, girls, i'm a wonder girl

Whose 6th anniversary? I'm serious when I say I officially quit paying attention when Heechul left. KyuHae alone are not enough to help me give a fuck, unless they are in SJM. (SJM, come baaaaaaack alskdj the travel show is over now and it was the pinnacle of SJM perfection. Pun intended. Hilarious, adorable, stupid, and amazing.)

More importantly, Wonder Giiiiiiiiirls. New album, all hot fucking stuff, and new MV:

Haters to the left. These are my girls, I love them all. Sohee's not the little girl she used to be, look at her own a song that's actually in a her fucking range for once! Hyerim is gorgeous and talented, Yoobin is smoking hot with that long hair, Sunye is always, always so pretty and such a great voice, and Yeeun is perfect. In all ways.

MV reminds me a bit of Single Ladies; lots of Western influence on the WG's whole album for sure. Listen to all the songs here.

I actually love the English version of Be My Baby more than the Korean version, and that almost never, ever happens. (Oh, Soshi, I cringed my way through the entirety of The Boys in English - then again, I cringed through most of The Boys in Korean too, so I guess that's not saying much. My only distraction was how gorgeous the girls were. Sunnyyyy, Seohyuuuuuun, Sicaaaaaa.)

Cannot wait for promos and lives. *____* Wonder Girls. ♥

Please avoid the SNSD v. WG war in the YT comments; kpop fandom can never seem to resist turning everything into a toxic hatefest. Fuck that bullshit. People are allowed to like or dislike things without it becoming a personal attack, and there's no fucking need to resort to personal attacks (or attacks of any kind, honestly) in some bullheaded immature idea of ~defense. The entire thing is a huge part of why I've abandoned the fandom aspect of kpop.

The music, the groups themselves, their hilarious variety shows - I can enjoy those on my own, if I want.

Whatever, I love SNSD and I love Wonder Girls.

Kim Heechul, I hope you are watching this MV somewhere and learning this dance. And then teaching all your troopmates. ♥

ETA: BIG BANG WON WORLDWIDE ACT AT THE MTV EMAS asldfhksjfs :DDDDDD sorry Britney ilu a lot, but this is my VIP moment.

my flatmate says they sound American, even whilst singing in Korean. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
haha they really do. That's why the Eng version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sJ9JhHDbMUE) probably sounds better/makes more sense.

[identity profile] acornmama.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
You crack me up, but I wouldn't even pay attention to the girl groups if it wasn't for you... soooooooo

I will have to check them out eventually, I guess.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
haha even my girl group attention span is limited; alas, despite the good stuff 2NE1 and Miss A put out, SNSD and Wonder Girls (and sometimes f(x)!) is about my limit. To be fair, I don't pay much attention to kpop in general these days.

Although when Big Bang or SJM puts out a new album, I will be all over that shit. :D

[identity profile] forochel.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
well really what I meant was that I didn't understand my flatmate, but having listened to that — it really does sound better. T________T are they all Korean-Americans, then?

ALSO OH MY GOD I HAVE FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHICH SONG THIS ONE REMINDS ME OF -- OLIVIA OLSON'S RENDITION OF ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU. I do not know why. It probably bears no resemblance whatsoever.

Haha, the vid reminded me a lot of Beyonce's Single Ladies, and then it turns out they have the same choreographer or something? Thanks for the link to the English version, too! I have a blog where I review Kpop music videos, and I think it would be fun to review this one. :)

THIS SONG IS SO CATCHY I LOVE IT ALREADY. *__*

Kim Heechul, I hope you are watching this MV somewhere and learning this dance. And then teaching all your troopmates.

this. /♥♥

BIG BANG JUST WOOOOOOOON \o/

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I HOPE SO. I miss him on Twitter posting random things. alksdld he is seriously ridiculous and great. ♥

[identity profile] acornmama.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Waves hands in the air in nothing but joy. Love it.

[identity profile] acornmama.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Girl groups get no love from me in general if at all. Unless something very specific is pointed out. It is easy to fall away from Kpop with all of it coming out and sounding relatively the same. But I still love it so I haven't left yet and with Big Bang out there I am ready for something from them.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems like kpop is drawing on all the big Western pop choreographers and music producers lately! Kind of interesting, though not all the end products have been great. Sorry Sorry choreo was good; Bonamana choreo was, imo, a hot mess. The Boys is a terrible terrible mishmash of a song, but Be My Baby is catchy and poppy and sounds kpoppy and American poppy. /my two cents

I can't wait for live performances. :D Also, how cool! I always admire people who can update blogs steadily. I am terrible at it!

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
ISN'T IT? :D LISTEN TO THE ENGLISH VERSION TOO, IT'S GREAT.

Heechuul. I miss seeing him do girl group dances alskflsdjsl. I miss him in general! Who are these other people?

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't tl;dr on them since I know you don't care that much, but 4 are Korean-Korean (though one lived in the US for a bit) and one is Chinese-from-Hong Kong (this is Hyerim). They've been promoting in the US on and off for the past 2 years so their English is pretty good overall.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT SONG IS but if it has no resemblance then I can't really help you, haha.
ext_9946: (stock: soaring loneliness)

[identity profile] forochel.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
oooooh Hong Kong! /bias :'3 ooh, so they must have quite a large fanbase in the US, then? also, how do Americans pronounce 'cadaver', Mei? this is an important question on which the peace of our flat depends. do you emphasise the 'ca' or the 'da'?

it's the one the little girl sang in Love Actually! with Liam Neeson's son playing the drums!

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I think we pronounce it ca-day-ver with the emphasis on the "day". How do YOU pronounce it? @_@

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
IT'S A GREAT ALBUM :DDD

The news is that Me, In and Be My Baby are dual title tracks, so they'll be promoting Me, In later as well. Probably also have an MV already shot for it, given the set in that first teaser?

In other news, so ready for SNSD to promote a different song too alksdjflks.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
hahaha idek how those awards worked, but at some point earlier they had a bunch of nominees for regions (Big Bang and Jay Chou were both in Asia-Pacific, that's all I remember, I guess Britney and a bunch of others were for N America,) and I think winners for the regions all went in for Worldwide Act.

WHATEVER BIG BANG IS TOGETHER IN EUROPE, I am happy. I will pretend they will get together and put out stuff soon...

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
What I don't get is how the Europe Music Awards are still so dominated by Bruno Mars and Bieber and what not. I should go check out the list of winners, but going off Twitter, those two have won shit. Then again, it's MTV...

[identity profile] forochel.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
HAH MY STAUNCHLY ANTI-AMERICAN FRIEND SAYS IT THE AMERICAN WAY. UP HERS!!! we emphasise the 'ca' and don't say 'day' but, um, 'eh'.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
actually it could be ca-dah-ver? I've heard it both ways. But the emphasis is definitely on the second syllable.
ext_9946: (Default)

[identity profile] forochel.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
that's odd, she very shamefacedly came home today from dancing and said the emphasis was on the first one! OH WELL WHAT DOES IT MATTER. they're all dead anyway.

[identity profile] intomorning.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I was surprised by how catchy I found this; totally agree w/ you that the MV is reminiscent of Single Ladies. Me, In is also catchy!

Haha, "Girl's generation make you feel the heat~"

[identity profile] intomorning.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
* makes, whoops

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Tori and I were ranting about The Boys and were basically like alksdjfk WHAT ARE THESE LYRICS along with the music, because, EXCUSE YOU, BOYS CAN BRING BOYS OUT TOO. And the "rap", oh dear.

Be My Baby & Me, In are probably my favorites off this album so far. Sunye & Yeeun's R&B duet (두구두구) is really good too!

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man it would be awesome if SNSD promote Trick next! We have no idea yet on their second song, right? I liked Mr. Taxi a lot a lot but I can't watch them perform it in Korean because it throws me off completely, haha.

WG comeback, cannot wait!

[identity profile] 0n3star.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
oops random, but i was stalking and decided to give this a listen. and i must say... i actually really like this. never been that much of a girl group person and the songs i do like are generally fiercer so this is really quite surprisingly awesome! ooh. i might actually be excited for WG comeback XD

and yayyyy, BB♥

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-07 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
If you like fiercer girl group songs, you should definitely give "Me, In" and "GNO" a listen from the new WG album! "Me, In" is their other title track and will probably be promoted after "Be My Baby".

That said, I love BMB and how catchy it is. Can't wait for live performances~

I miss BB! ;A;

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
I agree, the English version is catchier and the rap fits in better. The song grows on you, I think, like most kpop! ...unlike some kpop. /glares at The Boys forever

[identity profile] ky-rin.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
ooo, i actually thought this was endearingly cute ;;

it was totally single ladies tho, down to the theme of the lyrics XD

[identity profile] ky-rin.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
i have the most "i like her!" feelings towards sun ye! she's so pretty! how does she do it! and all of them are so sassy! sohee's voice is surprisingly deep o_O very... interesting (sexy). rather awkward observation there.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 01:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Well the choreographer was apparently the same!

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-08 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I looooove Sunye, she's gorgeous and talented and Donghae is basically in love with her. I think they go to the same church? Idk they are super religious together. u__u

Sohee is singing in her range for once! It's amazing. When they try to make her do the cutesy voice in all their other songs, she squeaks and is terrible. Korea is so determined that she fit their cute bubbly image though and it's ...really not her.

[identity profile] acornmama.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I know I said I would listen but it didn't even cross my mind until this afternoon. Can I tell you how I discovered Korean radio on my television? So I speak Korean? Absolutely not, but I am learning to listen to it. Long story short I have this... and this afternoon I heard Be My Baby. Again no translating but the song came on and it was so distinctively them it was crazy. I knew right away as soon as I heard it that it was them.
Pretty cool huh?

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, that is so random and unexpected! What channel was this on? And the song was in Korean? O:

[identity profile] acornmama.livejournal.com 2011-11-09 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I think. think mind you, it is on 1660 am. I am listening now and those were the call letters I heard.
I got rid of cable and am dependent on an antenna and converter box for the most basic channels. Apparently some of those channels are Korean radio. Who knew!?! LOL
It has been a complete trip to hear "Tonight" by BB and "Shy Boy" by Secret and "Can't Nobody..." by 2ne1.

They just did a tribute to Smokin' Joe Frazier who died recently.
And yeah all in Korean.

I send this to you because you love SJM. If I read any other fandom I would send you that but...
Someone recommended the HenWook story and while that is good I am recommending to you the HyukMin story. One of the best reads I've come across.
