Oh dear lord, I'm not sure I remember. Let's see, my first fandoms were BSB, but I was a het girl then... If I remember correctly, it was Fushigi Yuugi. Oh Nuriko! (Hotohori/Nuriko! Tasuki/Nuriko! Hee.) Strangely enough, I recall some pre-fandom Sano/Kenshin (Kensano!) fangirling too.

Er, well. They know I fangirl. They were aware, at one point, that I wrote "gay angel porn" (it's a long story), but I think they've endeavored to forget about it since then. Denial is a nice place.

Not at all, but I still remember the very first GW fic I read. It was 1x2 and involved Duo kissing random males, musing on their different tastes (apparently Treize tasted like roses but left a sour aftertaste?), before finally settling on Heero. Erm. Right now it is either 104.5° (Ouran) byfactorielle, or Quality of Mercy (Harry Potter) by mistful.

Because they're strangely easier for me to write than het fics? Or maybe they just interest me more, because they tend to be non-canon and therefore fun to explore while staying in character. Also, hot boys. Interesting characters. Different relationship dynamics than boy/girl?

They're all crap. I can't think of a single one I really like off the top of my head. I really should spend more time on original fics. More time writing, really...

Er, they think they're all right? I don't write so much as to have a lot of feedback on them, and I haven't written originals in ages.

One-shots, for real. A Little Stress Relief (Fruits Basket) left me with an awful taste in my mouth regarding multi-chaptered fic, but the truth is that I wish I could write chaptered fic well. Another thing to work on! (Maybe I should try my hand on Nanowrimo this year. Oh, that's funny.)

I have a short attention span, I think. And am terrible at plotting things out long enough to make chaptered fic tie together.
16. What is the greatest obstacle you faced when you write original fics?
Keeping them from being utterly cliche and preteen-fantasy-come-to-life? Or emo-self-narrated-YA-fiction, yech. Oh, and writing them at all.

Comedies. They leave me happier. :D I avoid tragic fics because I get so involved in them and they hurt so much and I just can't stop thinking about them for ages afterwards... (This is the reason I still haven't read "A Beautiful World" by cinnamon, despite it being a classic H/D fic.)

Yes! I love them a lot, as long as the humor is not entirely stupid or sophomoric, and the characters are at least somewhat recognizeable through personality.

I've actually read quite a bit of published slash, but I don't think I've yet stumbled across a favorite author. I do very much like Ellen Kushner (Swordspoint), Lynn Flewelling (Nightrunner series), and W.A. Hoffman (Brethren).

Yes, but then I reread my work and laugh. Try harder, Mei. (Though one of my short stories won me first prize in 11th grade and some money. It was quasi-published in a local literary magazine. I wish I could do that again.I could use the money.)
32. What is the emotion/feeling you most want to convey through your writing?
That would depend on the scene, wouldn't it? Whatever, I just want it to be clear. Sometimes I think I'm being clever and subtle and then I realize that it's so damned subtle that no one else has picked up on it. :D;;
33. How do you cope with a writer's block?
I whine and read fic. Which doesn't really help, I'll have you know. Sometimes rewatching/reading canon helps, though.

Oh definitely whatsapphira_angel said about trying to write a character smarter than I am. I fear for writing serious Death Note fic for that reason. Also Greenwood fic. (Shinobu, you are way too crazy smart and devious.) Some other things that annoy me: transitions, descriptions (that is: not forgetting to actually write some in), having some sort of overarching theme or central point, and smut. Not because it's embarrassing, actually, but because it's tedious to make original or hot. :(
38. What makes you happy when you are writing?
A well-turned phrase. ♥ Snappy, believable dialogue. Finishing!

...erm. Well, I've been totally immersed in HP for the past few weeks (OotP! DH! *\o/*) so we'll go with Harry/Draco.

Rivalslash! Making Slytherins/Draco a sympathetic (but believable and in-character) character! Overcoming the obstacles of canon to get them together! HOT SEX. I mean, really. Also because this pairing gets some very, very talented authors and artists. They make it even harder to resist.

::squints:: Let's see...my first fic was Marmalade Boy... OH MY GOD, I think my first slash fic was Vertigo (H/D). That was in May 2003.

Currently, a couple hours or so at night when I am all in the mood for some p0rn before bed. Hee. I spend the day being productive or reading my actual books.

There was a time when I would've said TezuRyo, but thankfully that day is past. There are plenty of pairings that don't float my boat, but there's nothing I "cannot accept". I just ignore and move on with my life.

Um, grumble and write it anyway? It's a good learning experience, I guess. I've written TezuRyo (unforced, even!).

Not really. I toss around the term "OTP" pretty loosely, but it mostly means the pairing I like best to read/fangirl for in said fandom. But that doesn't restrict me from liking a bunch of other pairings in the same fandom, including ones that would split up said OTP.

I assume we're back to H/D. Um, I really don't care either way. Most of the fics I've read have bottom!Draco, but the other way is also nice sometimes.

Of what? PoT? I'd like to tell Konomi to fuck off stringing Hyoutei along just to make them lose. >:( If we're going back to H/D, I'd like to tell JKR "Thanks for writing this awesome series." Oh, I still have plenty of criticisms of it and it's definitely not any literary masterpiece, but I enjoy the canon and adore the fandom (even all the batshit insane wank that comes with it, haha). I'm glad she wrote it and that it's become this huge phenomenon that I can take part in. It's fun!

...'cause I want to? Well, at first I wanted to try my hand at them to expand my writing horizons. Then I needed to write more to improve. Now, I-- I don't know. I wrote p0rn on demand. Occasionally. (This reminds me that I want to do a p0rn meme onchineseink, but later.)
74. Do you think they are easy or difficult to write?
It was so, so hard at first. (Har har, pun.) It was painful to look at the screen to see what I was typing. It got better after that! I think I'm desensitized from all the smut I read (manga and fic alike). Still, though smut is easier now than it used to be, it's still not "easy", per se.
75. Why?
Trying to make it both fresh (i.e., not terribly cliché and the same as every other generic smutfic) and hot is not easy. Details matter, but not so many that the scene is bogged down! Description and action must be balanced! Diction really matters! alksjflAUGH. Oh, and let's not forget keeping the characters in-character. Your smut may get an A on hotness, but the scene is not overall A material if I can sub in random names for your characters and still have the scene work.

LOLZ. Yeah, I do. It is calming for the mind. XD I do, of course, prefer it well-written.

Hm. Purple prose, I guess. And I'm really not fond of "ahhh" and "ohhhh" being typed out as dialogue in the fic. Just keep in the narrative, okay? (My standards go way lower with manga. I don't even wince much at the Glaring Lack Of Lube™ anymore, or the Uke Tears and Protests™. It all comes part and parcel with the genre. Not to say I love it, but I tolerate it well enough.)

There was a time when I would've said TezuRyo, but thankfully that day is past. There are plenty of pairings that don't float my boat, but there's nothing I "cannot accept". I just ignore and move on with my life.

Um, grumble and write it anyway? It's a good learning experience, I guess. I've written TezuRyo (unforced, even!).

Not really. I toss around the term "OTP" pretty loosely, but it mostly means the pairing I like best to read/fangirl for in said fandom. But that doesn't restrict me from liking a bunch of other pairings in the same fandom, including ones that would split up said OTP.

I assume we're back to H/D. Um, I really don't care either way. Most of the fics I've read have bottom!Draco, but the other way is also nice sometimes.

...'cause I want to? Well, at first I wanted to try my hand at them to expand my writing horizons. Then I needed to write more to improve. Now, I-- I don't know. I wrote p0rn on demand. Occasionally. (This reminds me that I want to do a p0rn meme on

It was so, so hard at first. (Har har, pun.) It was painful to look at the screen to see what I was typing. It got better after that! I think I'm desensitized from all the smut I read (manga and fic alike). Still, though smut is easier now than it used to be, it's still not "easy", per se.
75. Why?
Trying to make it both fresh (i.e., not terribly cliché and the same as every other generic smutfic) and hot is not easy. Details matter, but not so many that the scene is bogged down! Description and action must be balanced! Diction really matters! alksjflAUGH. Oh, and let's not forget keeping the characters in-character. Your smut may get an A on hotness, but the scene is not overall A material if I can sub in random names for your characters and still have the scene work.
76. Do you like reading smut fics?
LOLZ. Yeah, I do. It is calming for the mind. XD I do, of course, prefer it well-written.

Hm. Purple prose, I guess. And I'm really not fond of "ahhh" and "ohhhh" being typed out as dialogue in the fic. Just keep in the narrative, okay? (My standards go way lower with manga. I don't even wince much at the Glaring Lack Of Lube™ anymore, or the Uke Tears and Protests™. It all comes part and parcel with the genre. Not to say I love it, but I tolerate it well enough.)

Mainly, I've been obsessed with this... Chinese singing competition/show. It's like American Idol, but for guys only, and two of the guys [my icon for reference ♥] are really cute and dorky and totally in love. Actually, that applies to most of the contestants I think. But anyway. My favorite made it into the top two, so I'm really excited.
