Sometimes I feel kind of bad that no one gets to see anything but my fangirly side on this journal, because I want to be more than a flat character, you know? I have more thoughts than just fannish ones; I care about issues and have opinions on things and have a RL that doesn't revolve around fandom...

But then I figure I shouldn't worry so much. Fandom is my happy escape and I like to keep that separate from my RL. I'm sure you can learn about the kind of person I am through my fangirling, and you're always welcome to friend shadesofmei, my RL journal, if you want to get to know the non-fangirl in me. :)

That aside:

(An the analysis of an argument)

I found this Wiki entry very interesting, due in part to all the drama and reasoned arguments that came about in response to Strikethrough and Boldthrough last year. The article linked to the allegory of the boiling frog, which I'm familiar with but still found interesting to see fully delineated. I also read up on the Straw man fallacy because, after being introduced to the concept through my summer Philosophy class, I began to see it in a lot of so-called reasoned arguments.

Then there is, of course, the ad hominem argument (i.e., personal attacks). I was a little amused to see reductio ad Hitlerum as a special type of ad hominem argument because it reminded me of Godwin's Law. Humanity will never forget Adolf Hitler.

I am so randomly entertained by Wiki sometimes! :D

I learned the side-taskbar thing from my roommate last year, actually. I grew curious and tried it out--and I love it. I love that I can have eight or ten applications open and none of them stack. I'm so used to it now that having the taskbar at the bottom bugs me. XD

My issues with religion involve my approach to religion. I try not to dismiss people outright because yeah, people tend to get uppity when people say oh yeah, no chance in hell that the world is 6000 years old. But yeah. Sometimes I fail.

I love Katou, he absolutely made Hyouteimyu for me. Well, and the rest of Hyoutei. I quit paying attention to Tenimyu once they moved past Hyoutei. ::shamed:: I have no idea what's up with Tenimyu anymore either except I know there's a 3rd Seigaku cast, they already had Rikkaimyu, and possibly a DL4...?

Haha, that is so true and I was saying just saying something similar to my friend the other day. Maybe it's an East Asian thing, since the Japanese like to have their male pop idols crossdress as well (check out this commercial by Lead members ;)).

Oh man, Oofuri. I keep meaning to get into that but I keep getting sidetracked by Korean boys, damn it. I have the first few chapters of the manga on my HD though--would you recommend the manga or the anime?

I'd choose the anime over the manga just 'cause I've actually caught up on the anime and am way behind in the manga (and I find the anime art slightly cuter ;)). The anime follows the manga quite closely, I believe, and I think you'd likely enjoy both of them (cute boys, sports, camaraderie...what's not to like? Oh, and did I mention teh ghey?).

Lol. I used to not even pay attention to Korean music that much, but nowadays it makes up most of what I'm listening to. ^^b

I think I fell in love with Big Bang after seeing them on 기적의승부사 (Miraculous Victory and Defeat). It's this hilarious variety show that has two groups, entertainers and news anchors, competing against each other by playing various games. I actually am a really weird Big Bang fangirl in that I adore their music and them as a group, but I don't spend that much time flailing over them on shows or trying to write fic (which just weirds me out, idek). It's almost the opposite with Super Junior (except I do like their music too) because they're on so many shows and stuff. It's weird, weird.
