01. asian boy band fanservice - I feel as if this should be self-explanatory. I love my Asian boybands and the way they grope each other, yay!
02. believing in true love - Sometimes I feel as if this is a lie, but mostly I believe in true love. At least for my OTPs and in my writing.
03. teukie's everything - This came right after "Kibum's smile" and "Donghae's hips". I had to include Teukie and we all know how he's my favorite and--yeah. I love it all, including his epic fail. ♥
04. various methods of procrastination - Um, if I didn't major in PoliSci and Intl Studies, I would major in this. And I would be damned good at it.
05. donghae's hips - Just watch him dance. Just do it. Guh.
06. making impenetrable fandom references - I make countless fandom references from all the fandoms I'm in, all the time. No one else gets them, it's okay. (For instance, this blog is a compilation of references from Big Bang (esp. Lies), Super Junior (esp. Don't Don), Harry Potter, Goong OST, and other things besides. I'm so retarded, really, but easily amused.)
07. henry lau (you fuckers) - ELFs piss me off. "Only 13" gets my hackles up. I support Henry Lau, you fuckers. :)

It's also rather ouchful (which we all know isn't usually my thing), but in that inescapable way. Um, please form your own thoughts about this. I'm just pointing you in its direction because I honestly can't remember what pinged me the first time around.

I dwell too much sometimes on how hard fame must be and how much they must have to sacrifice as celebrities, but fics like these remind me that there are good times and memories they treasure and would never give up. ♥ Oh SuJu, you are one big happy (gay) family and I love you so much.

reaction: YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT. THIS IS HARRY POTTER VERSE. AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL. Beautifully painful, with the star-crossed love of Slytherin!Teuk and Gryffindor!Kangin and the complete and utter house loyalty that Slytherin demands. There is beautiful TeukChul friendship and more, with a cameo from Slytherin!Hae who makes my heart dokidoki~. I suck at this rec, wow, but it's so well-written and HP!verse, even if it breaks my heart completely. (But possessive!Heechul made me happy.)

And the very concept of EunHae getting old and married and needing to spice up their sex lives--alskfjlskd ahahaha. Ahahahah. Yeah. Color me ridiculously amused and entertained, and then waylaid by the hot.

reaction: I've mentioned before, I'm sure, my eternal love for HanChul friendship and relationship? Yeah, this fic conveys a lot of that--the way Heechul and Hankyung understand each other without words (and sometimes with a lot of words), Heechul's possessiveness over Hankyung, Hankyung's conflict between his homes--ugh, this fic breaks me. It references EHB7 (whee) and other things, which make it all the more real and believable, and oh it kills me because I love love love HanChul dynamics. So much.

summary: Heechul knew about Siwon's strong devotion to his faith.
reaction: I told someone in a comment elsewhere that I would never tire of religious!Siwon. I was referring mostly to using it as a funny plot device but it's true in a serious light too; I appreciate authors who truly explore the complexity of faith and any relationship Siwon might try to have with any of the other members. I liked this piece especially because it was Heechul, the most atheist of them all, and I think she really got him down. I like how Heechul is fluttering on the edges of maybe, maybe seeing what Siwon sees, and how the end turns it around totally, so definitively Heechul, set in his own beliefs.

reaction: Ugh, years old but I had to rec it because there's not enough CinHae in the world and not enough of it is smut. Please enjoy Rella in the shower fantasizing about Donghae. Yum.

reaction: This is a locked fic, for which I'm sorry, but the caliber of writing in this fic deserves a rec. Plus it's high-caliber KangTeuk, so you know I am utterly weak to it. There is nervous awkwardness in this fic, and the uncertain desire, and it was all perfect. Both Kangin and Teukie were so cute and stupid and in love. The little details in the way they touched each other were gorgeous--oh. KangTeuk should be like this all the time.

reaction: This is a rather...dark fic. It's broken and unhappy and full of sex that does not bring fuzzy glowing feelings. I kept thinking about leaving a comment but I couldn't find the right words, but-- it's not as complicated as it appears, but it's layered too. It's a really interesting concept and idea; I wish she could tighten up some of the mechanical issues, because then it would be a mindblowingly fantastic fic.

I have this gaping soft spot for KiHae, it's really obvious, isn't it? There are some really, really funny scenes in this. Really.

reaction: Ahaha, see how late I am with fic recs? They've really built up. But this is well-written KiHae, very enjoyable, very fun. Lots of video-game-playing!Kibum, which I always enjoy, and adorable!Hae, and a little bit of meddlesome!Heechul at the end. Hurray!

Mmm, coffee is a wonderful thing. I like a sly and playful Donghae. I think we should invest more in this. :D

reaction: Refreshingly non-smutty interpretation of the theme. Capitalizes on an old Chunji conversation that proved Heechul's amazing friendship to Hankyung once again for me. I adore HanChul relationship, I do.

reaction: I love KyuTeuk. And I don't care what she says about this piece and her ability to write drabbles, this is perfect. It treats Kyuhyun as an adult despite his being the youngest of the group; it treats Leeteuk as the self-deprecating doubter he always is, only still cute and laughing and mothering. It references both EHB12 and Change (both of which make me a happy fangirl), and it is pretty much gold through and through. Gah, I love this so much. Go read it and give it the attention and love it deserves!

reaction: Holy crap. I am weak for schoolboys!AU like you have no idea--it was probably all the BL manga that did it to me. Kangin as part of the Disciplinary Committee kind of kills me with glee and amusement, though, especially in his relationship with everyone else. The KT is flirty and perfect, hitting just the right notes of schoolboy interest without getting too--I don't know. ::flaily hands:: A slight bit of angst and misunderstanding as all schoolboys' love stories must have, lots of kisses, and a cute resolution. I love this fic, it's adorable. I wish more people wrote schoolboys!AUs. :(

summary: Picking up where the gunshot left off and continuing down one possible route. What if Hankyung wasn't killed? What if Siwon just got the whole thing horribly, horribly wrong?
reaction: I can't be coherent about this fic twice in one day so let me just c/p my comment:
Okay, okay, totally weeping and hurting but incredibly happy right now. The MVs were brilliant but they were awful for the heart, and this fic was the perfect remedy. Fuck that, it's the epitome of MVverse fic and nothing will ever top it. The two of you captured the entire feel of the story, of the ties and friendships between the three (thank you for not neglecting Yeonhee or her importance to either of them while not making her a major sticking point the obviously-destined ShiHan). I am also kind of incoherent over Siwon's personality because I think you pinpointed it, the mix of arrogance and neediness, the cold mask he wears while pushing people he loves away but the way he loves to touch when he gets a hold of them. It's just--so--gah. Not the Siwon of RL of course, king of skinship and puppyish adorability, but the perfect Siwon of the MV.
I like their fighting because it hurts, like it should. I like Hankyung's insecurities and doubts and unhappiness, because it rings true. I like the references to heroes and their dance troupe and performances. And boooyy do I like the sex. ♥
But it's really the story that makes it. It's the relationships and the hurt and the gradual realization that maybe it wasn't as it seemed. It's more than about just the ShiHan, it's about Hankyung and Siwon as individuals, reacting to the events of the MVs. This is beautiful, truly. I adore it.

Donghae getting sorted! And because Kendra couldn't decide where to put him, she's going to write him in all of them. Gleeeee. ♥

reaction: The first sentence won me over because I can totally see Teukie as this person. I believe it. And that makes the rest even better to me, because Kangin is the type to be there to pick up the pieces for him. Even without the romance, the platonic relationship between Leeteuk and Kangin is dependent like this. It's kind of beautiful, but I'm a fangirl. It's kind of unhealthy, but it's real, and people depend on people.

summary: While gambling with Donghae, Kibum discovers that there might be more at stake than just his job.
reaction: I was super intrigued and engaged by this AU. Gambling and gang leaders and nightclubs are hot, and made hotter by the boys in them. I loved Donghae’s irreverent personality, easy, careless, casual, but sharp all the same. I loved Kibum too—trying to be so serious, weak for Donghae, sulking a little inside, mostly responsible, hot in a suit (uh, I mean). There's a lot of detail into the environment and each action and word exchanged between Donghae and Kibum, which paints a very vivid picture of what’s going on and where. Also lots of teasing glimpses of longer backstory, of the bigger story that we never quite get to see, but it's all so fascinating. I hope to see more of this AU, so I'm super happy that she says she wants to continue after she finished her Goongverse. :D

reaction: I don't know where this pairing came out of but this fic hit me over the head with it and made me fall in love. Heechul is priceless and cruel, as always, and Hyukkie--well, he puts up with so much abuse in SuJu and in fics, the poor thing. I am so easily entertained by his tragic life and also Heechul's princessy ways. Also, I kind of died multiple times at the phone call to Hyuk's mother telling not-quite-lies. You have to read it to understand and appreciate properly. But omg, ahahaha.

reaction: Everything she writes is so damned original, I can't stand it. She takes the prompts everyone else has used and turns them into something so creative, so refreshing, so amazing. I love this fic. I can't decide whether to be horrified or gleeful at what Teukie has to go through, but it's amazing and perfect all the same. She writes the crazy situation convincingly realistic, but without going heavy on the possible-angst aspect, for which I am always glad. (Plus, KT! :D)

Her Kyuhyun is adorable and such a freshman; her Sungmin is non-girly (except for his drinks) and aggressive; Heechul is touchy (yum); and Kangin is hot hot hot. He would be the best, most solicitous drunk college boy ever. ♥

reaction: It is so cute and happy and fluffy and heartwarming, I am incoherent over it. It's really just a small piece of writing but it really struck me when I read it (because I was incoherent with happiness over something else but hey, still awesome writing). What mostly got me was the touches, the quiet, wordless touches they always seem to share, small gestures and leaning on each other, speaking of trust and comfort and oh. I am such a KangTeuk fangirl at heart, what can I say?

First off, the repetition was beautiful. It really set the mood. Often times I think there's the possibility of it getting stagnant or whatever, but it fit absolutely beautiful here. And the break in the pattern: He stops. and immediately followed up by the reverse - it's a little breathtaking.
The characterizations were well-done too. I thought you captured Hankyung's habitual sweetness but strong stage personality very well, and Heechul was, well, Heechul.
They spin, the both of them—and it makes you so dizzy that you’re sick.
A dazzling, bittersweet, aching kind of line to end on.

These boys are allowed to graduate from Neul Paran! They're allowed to have a relationship after and beyond and keep it in the gloriousness that is the movie universe. I marvel at the idea.

I liked this piece especially because it was Heechul, the most atheist of them all, and I think she really got him down. I like how Heechul is fluttering on the edges of maybe, maybe seeing what Siwon sees, and how the end turns it around totally, so definitively Heechul, set in his own beliefs.

Okay, okay, totally weeping and hurting but incredibly happy right now. The MVs were brilliant but they were awful for the heart, and this fic was the perfect remedy. Fuck that, it's the epitome of MVverse fic and nothing will ever top it. The two of you captured the entire feel of the story, of the ties and friendships between the three (thank you for not neglecting Yeonhee or her importance to either of them while not making her a major sticking point the obviously-destined ShiHan). I am also kind of incoherent over Siwon's personality because I think you pinpointed it, the mix of arrogance and neediness, the cold mask he wears while pushing people he loves away but the way he loves to touch when he gets a hold of them. It's just--so--gah. Not the Siwon of RL of course, king of skinship and puppyish adorability, but the perfect Siwon of the MV.
I like their fighting because it hurts, like it should. I like Hankyung's insecurities and doubts and unhappiness, because it rings true. I like the references to heroes and their dance troupe and performances. And boooyy do I like the sex. ♥
But it's really the story that makes it. It's the relationships and the hurt and the gradual realization that maybe it wasn't as it seemed. It's more than about just the ShiHan, it's about Hankyung and Siwon as individuals, reacting to the events of the MVs. This is beautiful, truly. I adore it.

I loved Kibum too—trying to be so serious, weak for Donghae, sulking a little inside, mostly responsible, hot in a suit (uh, I mean). There's a lot of detail into the environment and each action and word exchanged between Donghae and Kibum, which paints a very vivid picture of what’s going on and where. Also lots of teasing glimpses of longer backstory, of the bigger story that we never quite get to see, but it's all so fascinating. I hope to see more of this AU, so I'm super happy that she says she wants to continue after she finished her Goongverse. :D
