reaction: Sapphy has a talent for descriptive imagery, which I think this fic displays better than any of her others. It's breathtakingly beautiful, colorful, exquisite, with details that contribute to that surrealistic feel that so many authors try and fail to achieve without pretentiousness. I love fox!Sungmin and the idea of "astral" masks, and Leeteuk's ribbons, and - well, a lot more. The imagery is so, so vivid. I don't know what else to say about this piece except that it blows me away and makes me crave KyuMin like crazy.

reaction: To quote my comment: So while this tugs at my heartstrings and makes me want to weep a little for the precious ShiHan, I'm actually too delighted with this fic to be truly upset. I love the parallel structure, the repetition, the use of imagery. The description is stirring and lovely and OH, I am so happy for good ShiHan, even if it is a terribly bittersweet story. ♥ (What really gets me, on reread, is that the feelings transcend alternate universes or time. You can feel like this no matter who you are, where you are, and that really means something.)

summary: A series of sessions between Kibum and his psychiatrist.
reaction: This is, I think, one of my favorite stories because it makes me think. It's a little heartbreaking because you know it's all in Kibum's head - but when it comes down to it, does it really matter, as long as he's happy? Honestly, I had a dream about this once (I may have to write up an entire meta post on this fic alone), and - I can't find the right words to describe how this fic makes me feel, or what it makes me think, and ugh. It's beautiful how every session ties into with every episode, and how it all fits, and okay. Okay. I can't talk about this fic because I cry every time I read the ending and it's not because I'm sad. I actually think it makes me happy. All I know is that this fic gets me every time, makes me think, affects me a lot more than most things I read, and I love it. If you were given the choice for happiness, would you take it? Even if it wasn't real?

title: Fate and Reminiscence by

summary: Hyukjae fucks up a spell and summons Sungmin into their lives. (summary mine)
reaction: It turned out a lot sadder than I expected, but I do really enjoy poignant fics as long as they are written well. Few characters besides Kyuhyun and Sungmin are truly fleshed out, but they make me smile with each mention regardless (because we know these boys and we love them). Hyukjae is epic fail but that's what makes him so cute. The ending really tugs on my heart, because I am a complete and total sap, and also I miss KyuMin. Fic is sweet.

summary: There are tales that are meant to frighten, tales that go on and on for centuries, unforgotten.
reaction: I wasn't sure how I felt about this fic when I first started reading it, but the way it was told really grew on me, like old legends or ghost stories. The concept is cute, too, with the quaint little town and Kibum here and not quite sure what to expect, or how he fits in, or what he wants from it. And then she slipped in Donghae and I was too interested not to keep reading. It's a really lovely fic, a story, from beginning to end. It's a little bit heartbreaking, a little bit bittersweetly romantic, and a lot amazing. I love the ending the best because it's such a perfect way to end this type of legend-story, because legends are made of endings just like this: perfect in a way you didn't quite expect and that make you think and make you a little sad and yes. It turns my heart. ♥

title: Hell's Welcome Mat by

summary: Crackfic. Kangin falls into Hell completely by accident, and meets a demon. Written because I kept seeing "Angel Eeteuk" everywhere and wanted to be contrary. :P
reaction: I love this new twist on the "freefall" prompt and also on the ever popular concept of Teukie as an angel, haha. I have to confess I'm so leader-biased that I never tire of him being referred to as angel (loooove), but it's really interesting to see him dealt with from another point of view. This is cute and funny and Kangin makes me laugh. Fics that make me laugh automatically get win points. Plus, extra points for Teukie not being a pushover. I like leadersshi with a little spark and snark in him. :D

☆ title: Impetus to Life by

reaction: Can I just link you to my comment? It's seriously epic. And I plan on reccing this at

bulchibyung soon too, so that will be another epic reaction post. This is one of my favorite SuJu fics ever because, god, it's fucking poetic without being the slightest bit pretentious. It's perfect MV!verse backstory, just, god, okay, let me quote bits of my comment at you:

The entire section where Geng first realizes how others see his master and family is like a quiet, breathtaking revelation. Stop writing so awesomely, oh my god, you make me want to never write again and just read your stuff. I shouldn't be fangirling quite so hard before I even reach the end of the fic but, honestly, the atmosphere you've created in this piece is just--god, I'm repeating myself, but it's breathtaking. It really is. It brings me to the world of the MV (which I think is not as modern as some think. It really pinged me as 1950s-ish, I have no idea why--probably because of the casual clothes).

You also do a fantastic job weaving in the scenes from the MV with your own backstory and then, hi, okay, you totally waylaid me with that kissing scene. Holy shit, that was unexpected but really, really hot. I love you, I love you, I love this fic. And this is your fault that I can't give you a better comment on the storytelling section preceding the making out because I got distracted by the making out. Holy shit, again.

Your ending. Kind of tears apart my heart, because I know what happens after. But, god, they had such a happy backstory that I almost don't even care. I'll just pretend one of the other MV!verse fics addressing the post-MV events is true. ShiHan will triumph!

reaction: It's so cute and feel good and a lovely pick-me-up on a bad day. Everything's just so normal and ordinary and everyday, and their love story just happens in the middle of it all. It's a really nice change of pace, sometimes, from the drama/angst/lol-packed fics. It's quieter and sweeter. A little bit awkward, a lot cute, a lot of love for this. And just a tiny tash of KangTeuk and KiHae to keep me blissfully happy, hee.

title: Night!verse by

summary: Things that go bump in the night.
reaction: (NC-17 fics locked but she friends everyone. Ask, and you will not regret it.) This is possibly my favorite dark!creatures!AU in all of SuJu fandom because no one writes like this author can. I swear to god, no one is more of a pleasure to read and no one can make me wish never to write again the way she can. She's just so damned good at language, at making it express exactly what she wants to express, in detail, in emotion, in action. It's amazing.

This AU is my absolute favorite because mostly of her writing, but also her ideas. I love the character interaction and the mysteries still left unexplained. I am so intrigued by the werewolf bit because I've seen vampire AUs done well (Cityverse ♥) but I've really yet to see anyone touch werewolves. Plus her werewolves are Leeteuk and Donghae, so you know I pay more attention anyway, plus the hints of slightly-angsty KangTeuk backstory, and oh yes. alpha is undoubtedly my favorite in the series so far, because Donghae is brilliantly likeable without being overly childish, and Teukie - old and experienced and beautiful and how can anyone expect me to resist my two favorites?

But everything else she writes is amazing too: her Heechul, her Henry, the ShiHan. Yes. Just. Amazing. If you haven't read this, you definitely should.

title: No hell below us, above us only sky by

summary: It's an AU story involving Super Junior and DBSK. About half of Super Junior and all of DBSK are all gods. The Supreme One decides that Super Junior as negative things shouldn't be gods and demotes them, sending them to live in exile - among mortals, at a high school. (Insert Mei's horrified glee here.) (Extended summary in Ch1)
reaction: Okay, I spent all morning reading this, not quite expecting to like it, but being happily surprised. It is not the most stellar writing I have ever come across, I confess, but the author has a good grasp of basic mechanics (for which I am always grateful) and the fic is gratuitously enjoyable. I'm sorry, Kibum is fucking hot in this fic. I can't get over it. He's badass as Death and hot and beautiful and strangely kind sometimes, but alkdjfdl. I LOVE HIM.

And then there's the broken, dysfunctional KangTeuk that rips me apart and makes me melt when they're all sweet and in love and destined for each other despite Kangin's utter stupidity. Teukie doesn't have the spine I like to see in him, but I forgive him because he is an angel of pureness and good and light and OKAY. This fic is kind of drowning in cliches, I admit it, but they are all so guiltily enjoyable that I can't help myself. Kyuhyun is also badass and yet full of tragedy and angst (no, she really gets into his character and it really hurts and I love it), and there is Hannie who is so...so...wildly OOC in his lust-crazed sexiness AND YET I LIKE IT. Because he is running around sexing up girls and also Eunhyuk, who continues to be awkwardly cute and fail. Goddd, yes.

Then there is Ryeowook, sweet as ever, and Yesung, whom I will one day learn to like, and Heechul. Heechul who is broken and fucked up in so many cliche ways and yet I love, love, love it. Especially when he's taunting Siwon. And THE SHINMIN. I LOVE SHINDONG IN THIS FIC. I FANGIRL THE SHINMIN SO HARD. THEY ARE SO CUTE OH GOD SO CUTE SO HAPPY AND FUNCTIONAL. I love everyone's strange dynamics and how they dislike/fear/respect/care for each other, despite how dysfunctional everything is. Donghae is like a ray of golden sunshine and light and I love him and you will never make me stop and ohgod. It's terrible how much I enjoy this fic, truly. Plus there is sex. I'm grinning. I'm dying to know what will happen next. alkdjl oh what dignity?

But, seriously, number one reason to read this fic is because Kibum is a motherfucking badass. IT'S. SO. FUCKING HOT.

title: On a quasi-tragic note... by

reaction: Okay, first things first: the sex is smoking hot. Siwon is a total bastard and it is so dislike him IRL that it is also outrageously hot. I love the competetive spark that edges every conversation and interaction between Han Geng and Siwon. It makes every scene important, intense, and pretty much totally awesome. I love the descriptions of skating because, oh, figure skating - so much more hardcore than you might expect! And one of my favorite things to watch during the Winter Olympics. :) The mention of Heechul is just perfect - awful, cutting, and Siwon doesn't get it, but Han Geng's reaction just kills me. I really enjoyed this fic and its not-quite ending. Truly lovely. I love their all their fics and AUs.

title: Shades of Gray by

summary: It doesn’t take long for the First Years to learn that there is a hierarchy in Slytherin House, and it is a system that you don’t mess with.
reaction: My first reaction to this is one of absolute glee because this is SuJu/HP and it has Slytherin!Hae and it also completely and totally makes my life. My second reaction to this is to offer up my heart, because it's breath-stealingly painful and perfect and surprisingly sweet despite it all. The TeukHaeChul (Slytherin!) friendship makes me smile so much because that's how Slytherins are, they work like this, even if they're fucked up and imperfect, it doesn't mean they don't have close friendships. And the TeukChul makes me keymash all over the place because it hurts but it hurts so good, and the KangTeuk breaks my heart and puts it back together because they are so. goddamned. OTP. And Donghae being smirky and teasing and Kangin's utter Gryffindor tendencies and the naughty goings-on and initiations of Slytherin house? I am past love and into wonder here. This fic makes me adore both SuJu and HP more, and Kendra until words cannot even begin to express.

title: Simple As by

reaction: I have a soft spot for ShiHae that rarely gets indulged, but this fic was perfect for it. It's fluffy and sweet and a little bit stilted and awkward like it should be. Siwon and Donghae are best friends until Siwon realizes that maybe it's something more, but it doesn't progress past that, and it's perfect exactly like that, because it doesn't need to be. Their interactions are really sweet and reveal a lot about their characterizations without the author having to spell it out for the readers. This is insanely adorable and feel good, but it's not nearly as insubstantial as I might be making it sound. It's just so...warm and like a comfortable slice out of an ordinary real life.

title: Siwon, the Model and the Man by

reaction: Cue the hysterical laughter. Cue the excruciatingly sexy porn. Cue the great approval and satisfaction over Kibum being a total slut and womanizer and alskdjld. I'm sorry, I got distracted. The concept of this fic is hilarious and the execution is even better, from Siwon's perfection to the pun on his name, and including all of Hyukjae's total, typical fail, all up to the ending which is pretty much beyond perfect. It's a really cute story if you ignore all the hot porny bits, which I'm not sure why you would. The smut is hot, go read it for that if nothing else. ;D

tamryneradani's AU is also totally my guilty pleasure too (along with that one about Donghae as a ghost). I wince occasionally at the language, but OMFG. I love it whenever Eunhyuk gets to have mindblowing sex (see also: Siwon, the Model and the Man), and if he gets it from sex on legs Hankyung then all the better. I was hooked when she introduced the story, less than impressed when it turned into a high school fic, and then she wrote the Shinmin interaction and I was sucked right back in.

Your fic totally deserved a star! It gets me every time I read it.

I feel a lot better knowing I'm not the only who is easily entertained by, er, trashy stories. I say this affectionately and with little castigation because, well, I'm reading them, aren't I? XD I've always been amused with high school AUs, so that didn't really bother me, but sometimes I have low standards with SuJu fic because that way I have more reading material, haha. Some ideas aren't bad either, it's just the execution...
