Apropos of nothing, I freaking love Heero Yuy. (Okay, fine, have context. This post made me think of GW again, so I went and reread some old fics, and thus my love is bursting forth! Like a fountain!)

All you people out there who don't know (and love, love, damn it) Gundam Wing, raise your hand and get out!

P.S. My birthday is next month (lol ages away, for real, I have so many other birthdays to celebrate first). I quit celebrating it years ago, but I've never quit using it as leverage to whore for stuff I want. This is your warning!

I was a GIANT lurker in GW and got into it in 2003/2004 at which time I started swinging back and forth between it and HP and supernatural before settling in HP, because the fandom seemed to be cycling down. I really, really want to get around to a reclist of GW fics that stuck in my memory because there are SO MANY that I read and I can't keep track of it all. Oh, god, yes, the Whispers Arc. Just...good GW fic in general makes me so happy. Forget the romance, I want missions and plot and action and hacking. Hacking! It makes me shivery with joy. (Though I admit I like the romance and smut too, ohohoho yes.)

My cousin loved it, though she was a Heero/Relena shipper. I just really never got into it. Maybe because I was twelve and robots (I know, gundams) just weren't my thing. I know GWing, but I've never really gotten into its yaoi fandom. :P This was the time when I was still squicked with yaoi, and I guess it stuck because I still can't bring myself to read yaoi on it. Strangely enough, I'm not really a fan of any of the pilots, though I love Quatre the best (because he's such a docile little thing with tendencies to go crazy and kill stuff). It's Treize that I'm gaga about, and I'm such a fan of Treize/Une.

I don't like Heero at all, though I sometimes read 1xR. I also read 2xH because well, I like Hilde quite a lot, even though I once mistook her for Noin.

I've come to accept 3x4 though because there's no really hiding their ghei. Oh well, they make beautiful music together at the very least. :D

Oh Treize. I missed that boat and never understood it. I used to hate him a bit, but that was poor fandom/fic portrayal, and I've gotten over that. I used to hate Relena too...

If you are not completely unwilling, you could give The Drums of Heaven a chance! :D For the plot if nothing else. If it's not your cup of tea, it's not your cup of tea. I only joke about forcing things on people. :'(

Ohhh, GW. Well, you pretty much know how much I ♥ GW. I have such fond memories (and some not-so-fond memories, mostly centered around my being a retarded 12 year old). I bought the box set super cheap on ebay! I wrote terrible fic! A couple years later, I wrote less-terrible fic! And then years after that, I wrote okay fic that I never finished! It took me a long time to warm up to 1x2 because GW was my first exposure to yaoi and I thought it was weird, lol.

GUNDAM WIIIIIIIING!!!

My first first first fandom EVER since the first time I got internet connection (eight grade, yeah). There were times when I loved het couples (1 x Relena, 2 x Hilde, 3 x Catherine/Midii, 4 x Dorothy, 5 x Sally, GASPS!! It's the fandom most het couples that I like), there were times when I flailed hard over 3 x 4 subtexts (or blatant gheiness, should I say?), there were times when my source of daily LOLZ was Duo Maxwell (and Heero being fucked over by Duo, and Wufei being fucked over by Duo), there were times when things in my WinAmp playlist were Just Communication, White Reflection, Just Love, and various tracks sung by Gundam pilots' seiyuus, and there were times when GW >>> LIFE XDDD

Quatre was my favorite. IDK, if I was as snarky as I am now, Duo would probably become my favorite. My OTP was 3 x 4, although I shipped 1 x 2 and 13 x 5 and kind of Quatre-biased as well.

Awww, I love how it was so many people's first fandom, or first slash fandom, or something to that extent. It's so classic and fabulous and eee. I was a horrible het-hater back when I was in this fandom (because I was young and stupid) but I do love love love the girls now. I like well-written characterization! (Though, it's true, the 3x4 is hard to deny~)

I didn't love Quatre as much back then either but I think it was because of crappy portrayals of him as a weak girly thing. He's badass and people should respect that, damn it! ♥

My first real fandom ever, along with Yuyu omg. Started fangirling them way back... 2000? OMG. But yes, I confess to not having seen the whole series, just random episodes because it was dubbed locally here way back 98 or 99.. I have a copy of the complete series and I TRIED seriously but IDK I fail because it was all about the pilots for me and some episodes were boring. ;o; (But I promised myself I will properly appreciate this series sometime because ajkdhask first fandom love omfg)

This post makes me so happy, because years later GW is still one of my best-loved fandoms, horrible fic and all. (Although I freely admit to preferring 5x2 to 1x2. Yes, I know I'm a heretic.) I have a girlcrush on Sally Po that will never completely go away. The show is one of the few things that will never be deleted off my hard drive because I just love it so, so much~

Oh god, I was one of those horrible 1x2 fanbrats who thought it really was blasphemy to put them with anyone else and I hated 5x2 most of all - possibly because I saw it as plausible and thus the greatest threat. I have to admit, now that I'm not really in fandom in anymore, all my biases and memories and nostalgia is for 1x2, but I am much less stupid about other pairings, lol. For instance, Relena is awesome now in ways I didn't give her credit before~

I...kind of linkhopped over here. -is not a creeper, she swears!- But ugh, Gundam Wing~ I don't think I've ever seen a full episode and I wasn't much into fandom b.c I was 13 and hated dial-up, and all I knew/know about this series is from the crash course my friend gave me. But I have seen (and own and love!) Endless Waltz and the Episode Zero manga. And I loved all of them! Heero and Duo especially b.c hi, pretty hair. 8) And from what I remember, the plot was amazing and the animation was amazing and Heero was always :| and Duo was always smiley! and just. alskhd What a good series. =)

I haven't read any fanfics, though, so thank you for the links! =3 Sorry for the rambling, too; idrk anyone who likes old school (can this be considered old school? ish?) anime. I say Gundam Wing and Fushigi Yuugi and they're all Naruto! And I weep.

Everything I know about fandom (the Japanese side, anyway) I know from GW. It wasn't my first fandom (TB was) but man, I adore Heero like whoa. I judge fic by how Heero is written. Duo can be as girly as he likes, but by god writers had better get Heero right!

Technically, my first anime fandom was Fushigi Yuugi (oh god!), but GW is close up in there and, well, it generally won me over more because it had better fics. Idk. Plus I have this severe weakness for guys with guns in anime.

I do agree with you about Heero-love and portrayal. Yes yes yes! I also would like Duo not to be girly and omg-rape-me, but I find that fics with good Heero characterization usually don't completely murder other characterizations, so yay. :D

GW was my first anime fandom. I enjoyed the series, and I loved the fanfic. I was a Heero/Duo shipper from day one, although I did have a time when I tried Duo with anyone. That passed pretty quickly, especially when I started Moments of Rapture. Nowadays, I can't even think about them not being together. ^____^

If I have a current favorite fic, it's probably Thin White Line (http://sharona1x2.com/rapture/contest4/thinwhiteline.html) by Farenheit 451. I don't have a favorite author, mainly because it's hard to choose between people like D C Logan, Merith, Mookie, jana, Kracken, Sunhawk, etc.

I know there's probably a community that will keep peeps up to date of what's going on and others with discussion and stuff...I just never went looking for them before...

GW!!!!! ohmygod I love GW sososo much. I marathoned the boxset with a friend one summer and ever since I bought my own I regularly enjoy marathoning my way through it. In fact, GW wing (and the sheer amazingness of 3x4) is what got me into slash in the first place. 3x4 are so OTP, I couldn't deny the slash anymore *-*

I don't read a lot of GW fic anymore though, I guess because (I lost the links to the archives I'd found years ago ;___;) I always read/wrote GW fics on fanfiction.net and....that place kind of sucks mostly? 8D;;; and I only really like 3x4 (and maybe 1x4 a little too). I didn't appreciate 3x4 properly back when I was in fandom (because I was a horrible little fanbrat back then, oh yes I was) but I sort of adore them now. In a much more sane and "wow, they're a lot deeper than I expected" kind of way! :D I think I fall into GW love at least once every year and I'm pretty sure I whored at my flist for some good 3x4 last time...maybe I should go look that up again.

Your lack of caring makes me sad! Sort of. I get back into GW for a period of a few weeks (or...a week) at least once every year. I don't know. There's just something about it that always calls me back, far more constant than even PoT or anything that came after it could. Like, Ouran and Reborn and all that? Fond memories, but none of this going back and reliving the awesomeness. Weird.

I so hope Jei writes a sequel to the sequel. I will shout loudly about that when/if it happens, have no fear!
