Han Geng is running the torch on August 8th, with the seventh group of torchbearers on the Badaling Great Wall section.

The Badaling section seems to be in the earlier part of the day, because they're starting there and moving to the National Stadium (the Bird's Nest) so I would guess Geng is running pretty early on August 8th (Beijing time).

NEW INFO! Sorry. :D This changed recently (like, a few hours ago?):

时间、地点变了!这次是官方发布的最终消息!不会再改了==|||

Now it says Geng is running August 7th, between 3:27pm and 4:19pm (Beijing time). The location has changed as well to some road in Beijing, it's really not important where because it's not the Great Wall. :| Does this mean I have to up in the middle of the night to watch him? The things I will do for you, bb. A fangirl's life, it is so hard!

Original poster says that the information was disclosed by the officials, so it shouldn't change. I hope that's true. HERE IS THE OFFICIAL SITE. This is fucking verified, okay, I am done!

I caught CCTV4 broadcasting the torch relay live last night (the morning of August 6th in Beijing) and saw JJ Lin! They broadcast the afternoon run live as well, but I was asleep. I guess (and hope) CCTV4 will continue to broadcast the relay live and hopefully some of us will have a chance to catch Geng on TV.

Additionally, there are 433 torchbearers for Beijing (which means Han Geng beat out all of them to win the top number of votes!) and everyone gets to run 50m. This takes about ten seconds, no lie. But I'm sure Chinese fans will have rips of Geng's 10 seconds of glory up on tudou within the day, if not hours. :)

ETA: LOL @ Chinese fans. They're so cute. They run around calling him "landlord" and "Beijing fried rice" and they're wailing about why it's being changed to the afternoon of the 7th when they have to work, instead of being on the 8th, when everyone had a holiday. Cute fans are cute.

and it's like not confirmed and so on..

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you have CCTV4? I'm trying to figure out if I'm still at work or if I might be able to catch it. It'd be Thursday night for me...

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL sorry, I just read a comment about how Geng said himself it was the 8th but he might not know the time's change. Poor Geng.

If I'm wrong, sorry! I will go double-check some more. ::peruses more baidu::

[identity profile] heenimloves.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
hahahaha, the timing is always changing, you're not at fault! ^^
hope the timing gets confirmed soon, so we can stalk hankyung. :X
hohohoho~

I have class the whole day Friday! T_T (I'm in the same +8 timezone)

I've been wanting to watch him run live, too. Even if it is only 10 seconds.

I hope he runs early - like around 8AM so I can see him on TV.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, info is in the middle of changing! On Geng's baidu bar too, so I'm going to have to edit this post. Now it says he's running on the 7th, around 3pm which means...3am for me, lol.

[identity profile] ilovenozomi.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
OH NO I HAVE MY BIO LAB IN THE AFTERNOON T_T

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I would actually prefer Geng running the morning of the 8th because that means I could watch it at a sane hour (night of the 7th for me) instead of crawling up in the middle of the night to watch him run in the afternoon of the 7th. :( Stalking is such hard work, even through TV!

[identity profile] ilovenozomi.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, as soon as i posted i read the edit LOL

[identity profile] yueshi.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
nop I don't have it.. though I probably will have to see if someone uploads it anywhere...

[identity profile] ilovenozomi.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
sorry i forgot to say thanks : D

anyway... thank you for the info! XD

[identity profile] heenimloves.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
fangirls' life are never ever easy >_>

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Np, sorry that it changed! I hope it stays the same now. :/

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, info just changed! Now he's running the 7th in the afternoon. :D:;

[identity profile] taengoo.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
does anyone know if any international channels will broadcast this?
cause hannie's timeslot is like, around 9ish in the morning for me, so its no trouble getting up - its just... the only channels we have here that are even near broadcasting this, is BBC World...
or is there a live-feed online somewhere?

[identity profile] peculiars.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
sobs.

i've only got CCTV9. :((

[identity profile] bulgocrazyi.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
ehhh august seventh o_O but the opening ceremony airs on tv august eight....

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Geng's was never going to be part of the opening ceremony; he was only a torchbearer, meaning he gets to run for about 10 secs along with the other 432 torchbearers of Beijing, haha. If you get CCTV9 International, it may broadcast recaps of him running, though it doesn't broadcast live. But there will definitely be rips on the internet, so there's that at least?

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
The running of the torch has nothing to do with the opening ceremony...the torch has been passed around the entirety of China for the past few months and has just come to Beijing (the last stop) August 6th. Geng will run it on the 7th and the opening ceremony will take place the night of August 8th. Some other famous person (athlete, I think) will get the Huge Honor of lighting the giant torch during the ceremony, I think, but not Geng.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I watch CCTV9 at work, haha, and it shows recaps of the torch relay, though it doesn't broadcast live. I'm hoping they'll recap Geng b/c he's the top vote getter in the Beijing district. ::crosses fingers:: I'm still considering whether or not I want to get up at 3am to watch him on my big screen TV live. ;_;

Oh, and CCTV9 broadcasts the Beijing Welcomes You MV, so Geng shows up in that. :D I've seen it a lot of times and stare mindlessly at the TV at work whenever it comes on, lol.

[identity profile] bulgocrazyi.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
thats disappointing all the same because I am sure I wasn't the only one who was hoping we could see him on tv. And I know they have been running the past months I am not that ignorant when it comes to the Olympics ^^

Same here!

CCTV4 is broadcast internationally (which is why we can see it in the US) but few people get it unless they specially request it or something? I'm not quite sure how it works. CCTV9 is truly international, but it doesn't broadcast live. It'll do recaps, though, and Geng might be in them.

I'm pretty sure if the other, non-Chinese channels broadcast, it will only be recaps. And I don't think there's a live-feed for anything except the opening ceremony.
