can you live like this?
Jan. 6th, 2011 11:20 amI have arrived in Singapore! Thanks for all the well-wishing in the previous post; y'all are the best. Things I have done so far:
1. observed from a distance SkyPark (a giant boat on top of the Marina Bay Sands hotel)
2. flitted around town in a skirt
3. met
forochel in person at laaaaaast ♥ and made her eat my hummus (no, not a euphemism; quite literal)
4. bought a cell phone
5. texted
thundersquall with plans to meet next week ♥
6. registered in person with NUS (only to discover to finish the process, I need a medical exam, so tomorrow, "hello doctor! please tell me I'm not dying of cancer")
7. electrocuted myself with the outlet
8. had dinner (tapas) at Clark Quay
9. been exposed, already, to people who actually and truly love durian (ew WTF)
Adventures shall continue, and my lurking on LJ will get presumably worse. Singapore red tape continues to strangle me slowly. I've also realized that I am probably the worst international student ever. :( I don't really care about meeting other international students and going to organized international student events (I may change my tune later about the former, who knows? they might be very cool) - I am much more interested in getting to know the locals and hanging around in the less touristy and expensive places in town. I want lots and lots of food! Preferably, cheap food! Also shoes. And coffee. Surely I can find someone (local or international student) who is willing to explore Singapore with me beyond the drinking and the clubs. (I do miss clubbing. But not that much. I have recently come to the conclusion that I have no art and no glamour in my soul. And damn it, spellcheck, I don't care what you say, it's "glamour" not "glamor". Your word doesn't count, you don't even think "spellcheck" is a word.)
