Lorna Freeman, author of Covenants and The King's Own, will finally, finally get her third book of the Borderlands series, Shadows Past, published in February 2010!!!

How many of you have even heard of her or these books? Because, jfc, they are my absolute favorite fantasy books ever, and this includes topping Pterry's Discworld books (which, in case you also didn't know, I freaking adore). I just finished rereading The King's Own today and decided to check online if there was any news after Penguin's horrendous decision to pull her third novel from publication with no announcement two years ago (two fucking years!) and alskdjfslk--

So basically I love Roc (if they actually follow through publishing this time), and I love this series so hard, and if you haven't read the first two books by her? You so, so should. Omg. ♥

I delayed reading The King's Own forever because I wasn't sure I'd enjoy the sequel - but I finally got around to reading it and am so glad I did. It's a little (liiitle) darker than the first one, but still funny and so plotty and character-driven. I love both books equally hard and I'm sooo excited for a new book in the series, at long last. :D

Idk if it's still stocked...books 1 & 2 came out in 2004 and 2006 and Amazon no longer sells them new... :( But it's so, so worth getting your hands on it. The reviews probably say it better than I do, but god, it's such a good series. Fun, fast-paced, character-driven, plotty...awesome. ♥

I have been looking for Covenants everywhere for the past year or two but it seems I haven't been searching well enough, as I still have NOT READ IT. D: I'll make it my goal to borrow that book after I finish reading The Demon's Lexicon.

I guess few libraries stock it now that it's out of print? I ended up buying a used copy from half.com and it was so, so worth it. I wish the 3rd book were out now instead of next Feb!

TDL is also awesome. :D ...but maybe it says something about how mucch I love Covenants that it totally blows TDL away imo. And we all know how I love Maya/sarahtales.

Flatly, Squee. Because this is a series that i discovered by complete accident - as you may recall - and it is good that good writing is getting continued.

Also? Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner #5 has been pushed back ANOTHER six months, to July 2010. D: FOREVER

I guess that's one less book to distract me during the semester...though if things go as I hope, I'll be in China again summer 2010, which means I won't be getting my hands on her book until August. Bah.
