Oh my fucking god you guys. I (re)watched the first six episodes of Ouran Koko Host Club tonight with my roommate and a friend and--

I can't stand how much I miss it. I forgot how absolutely hysterical it is and how gorgeous it is - visually, musically. Wow. It's actually really nice to watch it from an older perspective, knowing how things turn out and not being a bitter and narrow-visioned slash fan. Now I can actually appreciate the subtleties of Tamaki/Haruhi and Hikaru/Haruhi. I can ache for Kaoru without being sullen, can still coo over Honey-senpai and Mori, and damn it I can fangirl Kyouya like mad.

I laughed so much - honestly, they did such a fantastic job with this anime. Played with and subverted a lot of tropes, walked the line of gender identity, perfected over-exaggeration of sfx for comic effect, ugh. I just make flaily hand motions and lots of heartmarks at it, okay? hearts;♥♥

And I am craving Kyouya/Tamaki like crazy. INTENSELY. I just. Fuck. Wow.

Never do I regret not re d/ling it after it disappeared from my hard drive one day more :/

But yes! Ouran is love. It was the first anime, I think, that I fell in love with while it was airing. Usually I just watch it after the series has ended and the excitement has dimmed, but truly was a lovely experience to watch it while it aired. I loved Tamaki/Haruhi, and came to Tamaki/Kyouya rather late. But both pairings have been written well. <33333

Oh you should re-dl it, it's so so worth it. I honestly forgot how much I really enjoyed the anime and how full of crack it was. I can't believe it's been so long though.

Same with me, re the watching-while-airing bit. And that was kind of exciting, to flail along with everyone while it was happening. But it's always been one of those series you know you can rec at people at any time. :D

Man I ship so much from Ouran: Tamaki/Kyouya hardest, but also Tamaki/Haruhi, Kyouya/Haruhi, Hikaru/Haruhi, Mori/Haruhi... then Hikaru/Kaoru, Kyouya/Kaoru, Kyouya/Mori, Mori/Honey! :D!

Wow, this reminds me that I never actually finished the anime, I think. I was on the last two episodes, if I remember correctly. BUT OMG CRAVES WITH YOU. This is actually a weird fandom for me since I usually periodically check for new/old fics from my past fandoms but for Ouran, I've only ever checked once, I think. Now I really want me some Mommy/Daddy fic.

Oh well the last two episodes were sort of crammed with last-minute plot - not watching them doesn't exactly detract from the rest of the series, imo, but I enjoyed them anyway. Belatedly. I hated them when they aired and I watched it, lol.

Eeee you should check and rec me anything - old stuff too! I feel like I missed out on a lot. /goes hunting

IT IS SAD BECAUSE I LOVE MANGA. I love words, yes, but some things are just so amazing illustrated. It's just another form of storytelling and paneling and backgrounds and positioning - it all matters as much as word choice. So interesting to see it in a different medium.

But mostly I love Ouran because I am shallow and the anime is alskdghd freaking ridiculously gorgeous and hysterical. ♥!
