Happy Hikago Day! ¡Y feliz Cinco de Mayo!

blind_go fics are up, kids! Here's the list for round 9. If you can guess which fic (or fics) is mine, you get a gold star. Nothing more because I think I'm pretty freaking obvious - it's been months, maybe years, since I've written Hikaru no Go. It was a lot of fun to try something other than kpop for a change though.

So does anyone want to talk to me about how much Ethan in QaF sucks? And also how Michael has his moments but still makes me want to punch him in the mouth? No? Oh and I don't know if anyone heard about the fanfiction debacle surrounding Diana Galbadon, but I'd recommend this post (and comments and links, mine is here) and this post for some meta about fanfic and why we shouldn't feel ashamed of it or feel like we have to constantly defend it.

lol I hate Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series. It might be a Mary Sue story with better language and more research, but it's still a Mary Sue story. Or a trashy novel with a Masters in English. I could go on.

I haven't actually read anything by her. Then again, I haven't read anything but law books and fic for ages... Though there is nothing quite so entertaining as entitled authors wanking about everything under the sun. :3

Uhh... I'm doing a nonfiction only thing now. One good writing point for nonfiction is not being a self-important, name-dropping asshole and for some reason, the affliction is severe and incurable for SO MANY PEOPLE. I do like Persian Night a lot. It's about Khomeini and fascism and is great, super super great.

Speaking of entitled authors, I read an interview with Nicholas Sparks recently and I raged so hard. He compared himself to Jane Austen and Ernest Hemingway and called himself the literary heir of Sophocles and ragged on Cormac McCarthy and YOU ARE A HACK, NICHOLAS SPARKS.

Ooh nonfiction, I should read more of that and educate myself more. It's so funny that we do go out and educate ourselves even without school forcing it on us. I actually find myself reading more essays (albeit online ones) than published books. My interests of late have apparently been about race and rape. And how society as a whole SUCKS ASS at dealing with them. :(

That link to crack.com was hilarious. I was cracking up for /forever/ after that and I seriously couldn't stop laughing when I got to the "make your own Nicholas Sparks cover page". He's being a butt about being famous and he should know better that love stories are still stories about love which the rest of society calls "romance". XD

Oh my god, his stupid preaching and hypocritical life. I understand that he's fucked up and hung up on Brian forever but when he was telling Brian that Justin was an ungrateful dick and Brian should've left him to die (and then Brian punched him the eye), I wanted to reach out and throttle him. Jesus. Plus he's always like "blah blah blah morality" but turns around and is a dick to his mom and to Justin and to his first-season bf David and then to Ben and, oh, EVERYONE WHO ISN'T BRIAN. /throttles

Okay, I have strong feelings obviously. :( And yeah Brian and Justin are total assholes to each other but, idk, Brian is at least brutally honest and not usually a hypocrite, and Justin is actually kind of a nice kid despite everything. :( :( :( Crap, this is me shipping Brian/Justin foreverrrr. (Also, yeah, Ethan is the gross violinist.)

Sorry for dragging you kind of back, DID YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE? :D
