I think for his birthday, people should write me filthy T-Hard/JGL porn. Y/Y? I mean, it's like the gift that keeps on giving...

Anyway! Obligatory celebration out of the way (...I totally didn't know it was his birthday until cherrybina, er, absolutely did not make a post and absolutely did not mention it), let's talk about other things.


- Thank you, Inception fandom, for helping me appreciate the finer points of menswear. You have now officially ruined me for all the boys in my life, who do not wear these sexy classy things all the time. This is highly distressing.

- I keep typing "waistcoast" instead of "waistcoat", argh.

- I am reading so much Smallville fic and I have decided I like the DCU-fusion futurefics better because...I have no idea what actually went on in Smallville during Clark's high school years, never having seen any of the show (ten freaking seasons!). Also, c'mon, it's seriously middle-of-nowhere, Kansas - what a snooze. :( Move them to Metropolis and have Lex be filthy rich and powerful and Clark be all hot and morally superior (and slip in some Batman and Robin to entertain me) and write totally legal sexytimes! :D

- Today I went grocery shopping! I literally had nothing in my fridge except bread and a lot of different sauces because I have been putting this off forever, being stressed by school and other obligations. But now I have food again! I will not perish from starvation!

- On the topic of food, I want to try out all of these recipes (I like grilled cheese sandwiches, okay, don't judge me) but I think most of all I want to try the one with kimchi. Because kimchi is stupidly delicious and also I have some, so I could actually do this.

- I also have a ton of apples from apple-picking over the weekend and I am going to bake them and make delicious apple crisp, mmm. Thinking about baking some cheesecake-brownie cupcakes too, with almonds & chocolate chips on top. Or maybe no chocolate chips; I have everything else, so I could actually do that tonight... !!! No, no I think I will make apple crisps instead.

- Liverpool plays tomorrow! DEAR TEAM, PLEASE DO NOT SUCK. LOVE, MEI. But the game I'm really anxious about is the SUNDAY MATCH AGAINST MANCHESTER UNITED AHHH.


Here, have a few quick Inception recs:

(1) University Arthur/Eames AU series by onelittlesleep. I don't really know how to describe it except that it's different from every other college AU out there and it's utterly delicious. Ridiculously hot, a darker edge than most, and just -- a really nice change of stylistic pace from all the other A/E I've been reading. Lots of sex, some drama and angst, mostly just incredibly wonderful.

(2) Cuddling fics: Pre-deprivation by withlightning, where Arthur is the world's most cuddly sleeper, sort of by accident. And The Big Sleep by jibrailis, where Arthur is a flaily and violent sleeper but Eames discovers just how to soothe him.

It's true: there is no such thing as too many cuddling fics in this fandom. I will never tire of them!

So...you should totally tell me one fandom trope/cliché that you never tire of (assuming done well; always assuming written well!): High school AUs? Hooker AUs? Arranged marriage? Pretend boyfriends? Mistaken identity? accident leading to amnesia a la Korean dramas? Celebrity meets normal guy/girl a la Notting Hill? Coffeeshop AUs?

3. I think I love university/college AUs better just because they are older! And less dumb! And there is so much ridiculous shit they can do, being "independent" and not living at home, usually, and hahaha oh my god so much drinking and legal sex! Though I have to concede that there is nothing quite like teenaged boys jerking off/having wet dreams in high school AUs because of the tantalizing sort of shame/secret/self-realization that just not the same when they're older. :3

I am actually reading Georgette Heyer right now so I'm all OH MY GOD REGENCY GLEE but it's even worse because in this book there are identical twin brothers and one is taking the other one's place and all I can think of is the horrible influence fandom has been on me and sort of pine fruitlessly for the twins to maybe make out a little... orz

They move them mostly to Metropolis in the later seasons! Starting with the sixth, I think. I've decided to like the later seasons purely because their version of Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) is charming and snarky and super fine and probably the only version of Green Arrow I will ever actually love in part because he doesn't have the terrible facial hair from DC canon. He basically fills the Batman function within what looks to be a budding Justice League (since they couldn't get the rights to Bruce Wayne himself or whatever), except that he's a lot more cheerful and relatively well-adjusted. Also, did I mention super fine.

... Okay, I'm done outing myself as a really shallow superhero-loving dork now.
