[livejournal.com profile] herocountry:
[livejournal.com profile] meiface: IS HE CRUSHING HIS BABY WITH HIS MANLY ARMS?? OMG
[livejournal.com profile] herocountry: SCREAMS TOM HARDY THAT IS AN INAPPROPRIATE APPLICATION OF MUSCLE!!!

Things that have happened to me recently:

1) I slammed a soy sauce bottle onto my left ring finger, jamming it against the cabient door, and had hysterical thoughts - in the midst of panic about the swelling and purpling and pain - about amputation. Of course my first thoughts are oh my god, how to type with just nine fingers? I have been trained since young to type properly with all ten fingers. Good news, though - the swelling has gone down and it doesn't look like I will lose a finger! Now you can all be at ease, because I know you were all worried. This is such a vital concern, after all... I told you my life was full of sad accidents.

2) I am writing my [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan fic! It is currently 2000 words of awfulness, but at least that is better than zero words of awfulness? Oh, wait, maybe that's not true... It's okay! I will eventually fling the final product desperately upon my betas and have them fix it up or tell me that I suck and should just quit writing forever. Let's not think about that yet, because I'm not even close to done right now.

3) I have reached a point in Inception fandom where I am bookmarking fics I haven't even read yet because I am so desperately short of time and I'm just working off flist recs now. It's terrible. I can't help that RL is distracting me! What with purple fingers and Friday night karaoke and cooking and scheming to acquire muffin tins (do I really have to buy my own if I can just steal them from someone else?) and, oh, what is this thing called school, and the not-so-guilty pleasure of Smallville fics and the more-guilty pleasure of every Food Network cake/cupcake challenge ever... Anyway! My delicious is now more of a to-read list of Inception fic these days. Rec me things you think are fabulous and are not WsIP! I refuse to bookmark WIP on principle. :( So, [livejournal.com profile] cobweb_diamond, that means you just have to finish everything you're writing. And everyone else in the last post who was talking about writing things like high school AUs and pretend boyfriends and Japanese schoolboy AUs. /looks meaningfully at all of you

Speaking of karaoke, I am nosy. Do you go karoake-ing? (Alternatively, noraebang-ing or KTV-ing?) Is there a song you always, always sing? It seems like with my crowd, some staples are I Want It That Way, Bad Romance (lmao I totally rocked this last night and I will have you know that I blew JGL out of the water in terms of singing - but probably not so much in terms of sex appeal and also I cannot play guitar...), Don't Stop Believing, Bohemian Rhapsody, and sometimes Gangster's Paradise, haha. And if my crowd is particularly Asian that night: I Believe (My Sassy Girl), Run to Me (DJ Doc), Sunset Glow (Big Bang), and 童话 (Tong Hua by Guang Liang oh my fucking god kills this song, I hate it sfm).

ETA: OH MY GOD, HAVE SOME EXCITED BLOODY JGL. No, seriously, he was on a bike and he went through a cab's rear window. There is blood. And JGL being boyishly excited about it.

JGL: This is fucking cool! *remembers he's famous* I mean, don't try this at home or nothing--

THAT'S IT. NEW RULE. NO HOT MEN ARE ALLOWED TO HOLD BABIES EVER AGAIN.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
IT'S UNFAIR, ISN'T IT? DOUBLE WHAMMY.

[identity profile] jibrailis.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Tong Hua needs to die in a fiery burst of flame. And then have an asteroid crash into it on karaoke night!

I do karoake, but not often, because I am an awful singer and I mostly provide backup lyrics / drumming my thighs in a vague approximation of beat.

...your poor finger.

Food Network is so so bad for time management. I swear, every person I know has it turned on when I show up at their place, and then I never leave. Ever.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
My hatred of it stems mostly from the fact that I have heard it so often it could haunt my dreams. MAKE IT STOP.

haha I am an average singer at best (despite doing choir in my past - maybe this was before my voice change? or I am just out of practice, idk), so mostly I man the tambourine and rock out to trashy 90s pop songs when I am forced to take the mic. :D Lady Gaga is always fun too.

Seriously, Food Network is like a drug. One day I will have a fully-stocked kitchen and the time to make these delicious things!

[identity profile] cobweb-diamond.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
there is a PRETEND HUSBANDS AU, it just got posted but i don't have time to read it AUGH. but it's being delicious'd by like 50 people in a day, so it must be incredible.

oh dear, your poor purple fingers! that sounds traumatising! and slightly ridiculous (soy sauce bottle??) in a way that makes everything more aggravating, because of course when one gets a silly injury people laugh at it instead of being "oh, poor you". :(

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
adkghf SO RIDICULOUS AN INJURY. I totally got laughed at by my friends last night haha. It's okay; I laugh too, despite the pain. /soldiers on

I bookmarked that fic too! But I can't read it now - if I did, I will get no more writing done for the day. It's a fact: with Inception fandom, I can only read or write. Trying to do both will make my head explode and send me hurtling into a black hole of nonexistence... Okay this is a poor analogy.

SO HOW ARE YOU.

[identity profile] cobweb-diamond.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
WELL DEAR, NOW I AM DRUNK AGAIN BECAUSE IT WAS A PARTY NIGHT. also i have no soy sauce injuries, which is good.

you can't read and write? that must be annoying! don't hurtle into a black hole of nonexistence! that sounds a lot like a muse lyric... what are you writing??

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
aww it was party night for me too but I was driving so I couldn't drink. IT'S OKAY, I DRANK YESTERDAY. It sort of balances out, karmically...

No, I cannot read and write at the same time. Reading too much in Inception fandom makes me lose the will to ever write again. It's depressing. .__.! but I need to write right now, so I am trying! It's Arthur/Eames for my [livejournal.com profile] help_pakistan fic and is...supposed to be part Eames-objectification and part truth-serum, but we will see if the truth serum ends up making it in or not...

[identity profile] transitorial.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I went to karaoke while I was in Japan! It was quite fun--three hours of butchering various anime/TVXQ songs. Oh, and Britney Spears because my girlfriend is a horrible person. XD

I should write fic. Or, more accurately, I want to write fic but I've got two tests and a paper due this week. *is totally setting up LeechBlock after making this comment >.>*

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
ahhh Britney is always a fun staple to sing too! Though her earlier songs were definitely easier than the more recent ones. Or maybe it's just Toxic that always thwarts me.

I want you to write fic too! I want everyone to write! And commiserate with me hahah. But oh god two tests and a paper - best of luck, bb! HWAITING.

[identity profile] peachpastiche.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
We usually sing Kitto Daijoubu, sometimes Telephone, sometimes the Evangelion theme. The other girls almost always do I'm On A Boat xD And sometimes Rescue b/c I DON'T WANNA CRY AROOOOOONE

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
OH MY GOD KITTO DAIJOUBU. /digs it up. It's such a happy song!! Oh Arashi. ♥ and the Evangelion theme - do you remember what it's called? I think I have it - oh wait, never mind. I'm confusing it with Escaflowne haha. I have the Escaflowne theme song.

I tried to get one of the guys to sing "I Jizzed in My Pants" but alas... They sang cheesy romantic Disney songs instead, lol.

[identity profile] peachpastiche.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Haha, Caitlin and my wife have sang Jizzed in My Pants before too xD

I KNOW RIGHT ARASHI <3 I will usually put on at least one random Arashi song and make everyone sing with me, haha. The Evangelion theme is Zankoku na Tenshi no Thesis, it's one of those things where even if you've never seen the show, everyone knows the song xD
Edited 2010-09-18 19:37 (UTC)

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I have to go to YT to find the song and see if I indeed know it. Or have my anime days let me down? I never did watch Evangelion - it was big before I started paying attention and then I was distracted by all the other shiny.

...wow I have no attention span today. Just kept this comment box open for ages while I tried to write fic haha. Oops.

I worry for his baby but it's true, IT IS SO CUTE. Babies on their own slay me enough as it is, but when coupled with RIDICULOUS MEN LIKE T-HARD, I really just don't know what to do with myself.

My poor finger is recovering. Hoping all the typing I'm doing today is not too horrible for it...

What did you do for your help_pakistan fic? :O

And hi back! :DDD Hello!
(deleted comment)

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-18 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my god, how ridiculous! Jealous of the way you can actually write though. I don't know what happened in Inception fic, but suddenly it's like writing is the hardest thing in the world. Argh. How other people are so prolific, I have no idea. But at least yours is done and out! That is something to be happy about. :D

...I will slink quietly back to mine and try to bang out some more words.

I adore adore Yotsuba! Is your icon from Scott Pilgrim? I've never actually read the comics but I sort of recognize the art! (Of course then it will turn out that I'm completely off the mark here.)
(deleted comment)

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Huh, now I have to go see what you wrote. 8D I am so bad at keeping up with this fandom, omg.

Did you sign up for the Inception big bang? I did but right now I'm sort of like "why did I do that..." I have an idea! But I've written nothing for it so far, what.
(deleted comment)

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
WHAT IS YOUR IDEA!

haha my excuse right now for not starting is "I'm writing my help_pakistan fic, leave me alone!" Once I finish that, I will have to come up with a new idea. Or, god forbid, actually start working on it.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
haha admittedly T-Hard is always super distracting and is taking up most of the picture! Plus he's shirtless. Instant distraction.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
I know! Why did no one warn us about this RL business? Gosh, how it's so distracting and draining and hard to balance with fandom... Oh fandom. @_@

hahah yes that was exactly JGL's reaction. DUDE OMG COOL. THIS WILL MAKE A GREAT STORY. :DD DO YOU SEE THIS SCAR? LET ME TELL YOU HOW I GOT IT. So excited!

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
:O!!! WHAT IS THAT FANART OHH IT'S SO GORGEOUS.

hahaha I like how you crammed all your reactions into one incoherent capslocky sentence. Skills, Mel, you have them.

[identity profile] catskilt.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
HE'S SQUASHING THE BABY.

I used to go karaoke-ing quite often. We hardly sing English songs during karaoke though, mostly because the English videos here are lame and the instrumentals are screechy, so we sing either Chinese or Japanese (that is, if we're at the Japanese karaoke place). The Chinese songs I used to sing all the time were Jay Chou stuff, Wu Ding, Ni Zui Zhen Gui, F.I.R., Stefanie Sun, S.H.E., F4 (for jokes), and Tong Hua (stabs that stupid song with a fork). Do you get the music video for Tong Hua? That irritating almost-dying girl going "你看什么看啊?"

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
UGH THAT MUSIC VIDEO, IDEK, IT IS RIDICULOUS. It is like epic melodramatic kdrama made into a Chinese music video. What the hell!

Ahhh Jay Chou and F4 and SHE! :D Those are good. FIR requires a set of lungs I don't have haha. I also attempt some Wang Lee Hom and David Tao when I can (when the place has Chinese songs which is mostly...in China...), but mostly our choices are limited here.

hehe don't worry, the baby survived to toddler-hood.

[identity profile] catskilt.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
God, the whole thing about her having a nosebleed and then being diagnosed with leukaemia and then suddenly falling when he was playing the piano...IT MADE THE SONG SO DAMN HARD TO SING ALONG IN KARAOKE, UGH. But I think Taiwan was going through the melodramatic kdrama phase at that time because all the music videos were like mini movies with soaring emo plots lmao. I remember one music video started with so much talking that we were all beginning to wonder if the song was actually going to start. It might have been Ye Zi. /checks Youtube ........omg it is. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Mf1Y5kNrNI) SO MUCH TALKING. And I think she died or something. Or he did. Somebody died.

Oh yes, Wang Lee Hom's 'Forever Love' was mucho popular :D

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Half the time here you don't get the original MV with the song, just random clips from movies or whatever. Often it is from Korean dramas with lots of people getting shot or hit by cars - it provides entertainment for the people who aren't singing, lol. Who's going to die? How are they going to die? We watch avidly, often set to the tune of a Disney song or something not at all sad or dramatic.

[identity profile] catskilt.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Crying, I used to say that the national health levels of S.Korea must be really low because people were either dying of leukaemia or getting killed in car accidents. What you said about the people avidly watching the videos reminds me of the Japanese karaoke place because the j-pop videos aren't the music videos, they're low-budget short films of melancholic people walking around looking melancholic. And because they probably didn't have the budget to have one short film per song, they repeated the videos and we ended up watching the same video about five times on five different songs of this man carrying bread or something to his fiancee, by the fifth time we were like THE BREAD IS STALE, OMFG.

If you come before I leave, we should totally go karaoke! :D

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
haha yes oh god the videos that keep repeating over and over...

But yes! We should definitely try for that if we can. My semester starts Jan 10 so I'll have to get there before that. Not sure of the exact date yet, but before the 10th. And you are leaving...when? /lacks memory

[identity profile] catskilt.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I leave Jan 10, so, there will be some overlap! :D

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I thought I remembered you saying something like that! :D YAY.

[identity profile] papered.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
... FML TOM HARDY WITH A BABY ):

WHY IS TONG HUA EVERYWHERE. LIKE, I SUPPOSE I DON'T HAVE A BURNING HATE FOR IT OR ANYTHING, BUT IT GETS OLD FAST ;___;.

I GO KARAOKEING, BUT NOT OFTEN. I DID A BIT IN VANCOUVER, AND IDK, I THINK THERE NEEDS TO BE A ~CERTAIN ATMOSPHERE~ AND EVERYTHING, AND WHEN YOU GET TO THAT POINT, THEN EVERYTHING'S A LOT OF FUN - BUT UNTIL THEN, IT'S LIKE ????. LOL. IT DEPENDS ON WHO YOU GO WITH, I GUESS - IT'S A LOT OF FUN WITH CLOSE FRIENDS. THAT SAID, I ALSO FIND KARAOKE ODDLY TIRING THOUGH.

THAT SAID, I LOVE KARAOKEING IN JAPAN LMFAO LASKJDKAS. URG I WENT WITH A GROUP OF PEOPLE FROM THAT TOKYO UNIVERSITY SUMMER PROGRAM ON THE LAST DAY OF THE PROGRAM, AND GOD EVERYONE WAS CRAZY/IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. ;________;

I GUESS STAPLES ARE THE SONGS THAT EVERYONE KNOWS. LOL. SO IT CHANGES DEPENDING ON WHO I'M GOING WITH.... (BUT LAST TIME WE DID KATY PERRY (I KISSED A GIRL (LOL THE GUYS WERE LIKE ...)) AND LADY GAGA (PAPARAZZI) AND BRYAN ADAMS (SUMMER OF '69).

OH MY GOD JGL WHY IS HE LIKE THIS, I LOVE THAT HE IS SO EXCITED ABOUT ALL THE BLOOD AND GORE AND "THIS IS FUCKING COOL" ALSDJKAJF ;_________;.

[identity profile] papered.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
WHY IS MY COMMENT IN CAPS, MEI. ): I DO NOT KNOW.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-19 12:22 pm (UTC)(link)
lksfhj seriously, Liz, why is this entire comment in caps. hahaha. But yes staple songs change depending on the company you're with... What Japanese songs do you sing a lot? :O Not guaranteeing I'll know what you're talking about, but I am curious anyway!

Yeahh...I find karaoke tiring too, but that's because lately it's been more of an obligation than something fun. I'm sure I'll whine about it later lol. I went out last night to a friend's thing and came back early but I'mm still super tired. AHH.

[identity profile] darkunicorna.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Ahaha, I have a ton of tabs open of unread Inception fics.

WAIT, OMG. JAPANESE SCHOOLBOY AUS, THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN. WHEN I WENT TO JAPAN OVER THE SUMMER, I WENT TO AN ALL-BOYS SCHOOL AND THEY WERE ALL TOUCHY-FEELY AND I WAS LIKE, WHY AREN'T AMERICAN GUYS LIKE THIS??

And nooo I don't go karaoking, though IT'D BE REALLY AWESOME AND FUN. I remember I did it like, once. BUT, Backstreet Boys is totally classic. Can't do karaoking without them.

Aaaah oh God Tong Hua. My Cantonese friend was obsessed with that song for a couple weeks, and I was like, IT'S LIKE YOU'VE NEVER HEARD IT BEFORE. STOP SINGING IT. NOW. But Chinese song wise, Lao Shu Ai Da Mi and Jay Chou are obligatory.

ASIAN song wise, SUPER JUNIOR

[identity profile] darkunicorna.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
AND ARASHI

YOU ARE MY SOUL SOUL ITSUMO SUGU SOBA NI ARU

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
BSB NSYNC BRITNEY WESTLIFE - all classics made for karaoke! You should totally go sometime...somehow... Make it happen! :D And oh yes! I totally forgot: 老鼠爱大米 used to be a staple of mine; it's so easy to sing!

Oh SJ - I can only sing (or try to sing) them w/ a very specific crowd that I do not have with me atm. Otherwise it is just kind of embarrassing, lol. But apparently Big Bang is more acceptable? IDEK.

[identity profile] darkunicorna.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
YESSS. I will! Somehow! And it is very easy to sing, it's the first song I think of if someone mentions Chinese music, haha (:

And LOL for me, it's generally socially unacceptable for me to attempt singing in Korean. I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO IT, IT'S HARD

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-20 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
oh my god, singing in Korean is so hard. S'why I can only do it in front of certain people who will enthusiastically make-it-up along with me, haha.
(deleted comment)

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
HAHA REALLY BECAUSE I AM ALWAYS T-HARD > JGL, T-HARD > EVERYONE EVER!! It is sort of sad.
