love you until I'm breathless with it

This post and its comments make me teary.

[livejournal.com profile] monavoir sums it up for me, I think: "You have to learn to speak the language of the person you love, so that they can feel your love... otherwise, you don't really love them all that much, do you?"

Also, hah, this is my dad too:

My dad used to say "I love you" fairly often, but what came out of his mouth was almost always "Is your car running OK?"

Hey you guys, go tell someone you love how you feel. ♥

[identity profile] weatherfront.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Mei, I love you lots. (Don't worry; I have told my family.)

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
(everything makes me teary, so don't worry on that account!)

IFrit, I love you too! I should call my dad to ask him if his car's okay, y/y?

[identity profile] weatherfront.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Don't bother, I have already called your father and asked. The car is doing well.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good! Car problems are always so troublesome and usually expensive. (Is that some kind of metaphor for love? Hmm.)

SNAPPLE FACTS, for you!

#25 - The only food that does not spoil is honey.
#44 - The bullfrog is the only animal that never sleeps.
#85 - The Mona Lisa has no eyebrows. (I immediately googled this haha)
#130 - Koala and humans are the only animals with unique fingerprints.

[identity profile] weatherfront.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
...I actually got a little dizzy at the sheer FLOOD OF KNOWLEDGE that overtook me. #25 is an important piece of common knowledge, Mei! I learned it because I argued that coffee does not spoil, and someone schooled me on that point, haha.

And #85! The Mona Lisa also does not really have eyelashes, either!

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Coffee does spoil! It's why you're supposed to refrigerate grounds or beans after you open the bag. /has a bag sitting in her fridge 8D

:((((

oh tearful posts... it is a good thing my friends are used to getting sentimental/ridiculous texts from me in the early hours of the morning, because that is so gonna happen now.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
they know your love is good 24/7! not just during the daylight hours, not just during their waking hours - you love them always!

[identity profile] cobweb-diamond.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
LOL indeed. nothing says love like irritating your friends at late o'clock on a week night.

[identity profile] jibrailis.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
♥♥♥

I am actually quite unsentimental, and I have regretted it over the years. But you are lovely, Mei, I do want you to know that.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
I am so ridiculously sentimental/soppy haha. /flings self at you! But really, saying the words is not always what's needed - sometimes it's spending time with someone, sometimes it's doing things for them or giving them little things, but people show love in many ways!

And I think you are lovely too, N! Quite so. :)

[identity profile] regicidaldwarf.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
Is it weird that out of everyone - my best friend, my family, and my boyfriend - the only person I can routinely go "HEY BTW I LOVE YOU" with is my best friend? If I said it to my family out of the blue they'd worry that something was wrong, and my boy and I aren't at the saying it stage yet. :P

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Like I said above, there are many different languages of love! Saying the words is only one way. :D

[identity profile] regicidaldwarf.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I guess so. :)

In other news, I know I barely know you but I think you are incredibly lovely. ♥

Also, I'm really close to finishing my college AU! And then I can focus on turning the 800 or so words of ridiculous trope mashups into an actual story.

I am a huge sap. Everything makes me teary :((

My dad's way of saying it is by bringing me random stuff. Last time I saw him, he gave me 5 pounds of potatoes, 2 boxes of band aids, and some lightbulbs and said, "here, I thought you might need this." ♥

I LOVE YOU, MEI ♥♥♥

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
ME TOO! I should permanently attach some Kleenex to myself, gosh.

awww see that stuff is so useful! My parents do shades of this whenever I go home (which is not frequently anymore, which is why it makes sense I guess).

I love you too, Bina!

[identity profile] receipt.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
i'm like your dad. still, broski. ♥

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-23 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
HOW'S YOUR CAR, J? ♥

[identity profile] papered.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
this post makes me tear up, laksjkjakf, my tear ducts are still producing things from that fic I was just reading... (and aww, your dad. that is sort of how my family functions too, although minus the car bit since I don't drive hehe)

but yes, hi mei, have I mentioned recently that I love you to pieces? ;___; ♥. because you are lovely and fantastic and patient enough to hold my hand through everything, and ALSO, because you are tiny and adorable and I can squish you into pancakes. :333

^___________^

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
/SPAMS YOU WITH MANY HEARTS ♥♥ I will be your pancake, Liz! akdghf I love you too, I hope you know. Honestly, can you believe it's only been about a year and a half since we've really started talking? Time flies so quickly!

[identity profile] papered.livejournal.com 2010-09-24 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
NOMS ON YOU. (..... omg lmfao this reminds me of that a/e prompt about how eames turns into ham....... um ok let's not go here) ALSO TIME PASSES SO QUICKLY NOW - I KEEP COMPARING TO BEFORE-UNI-AND-HOW-TIME-TRAVELED-AT-SNAIL'S-PACE, AND ALKDJKAD I FEEL OLD. ): (you have no sympathy, I know, pfft :|) and WAIT WAS IT JUST LAST SUMMER THAT YOU WERE IN CHINA, *_________*, AND NOT 2008? THAT SOUNDS IMPOSSIBLY RECENT WHEN IT FEELS LIKE AGES AGO.

That's sort of how my dad says I love you to me too.

Only I don't drive and he's the one who drives me to college every single day. And you know, it's like an hour - hour and half - drive with traffic. He also waits for me to finish whenever I'm out. That is dedication right there. [even though it is a tad overbearing]

爸爸,我愛你♥♥

P.S. Hi Mei, I think you are lovely, funny and incredibly smart. :") [this is all based on our very limited interaction on the interwebs. :))]

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Oh this comment makes me :( it is lovely. Your dad! Awww. Sometimes it's things like that, you know, that remind you there is lots of love even when they are berating you about your grades and whatnot. Aw now I miss my parents.

askdgj thank you so much. I TRY TO BE A GOOD PERSON but really I am a work-in-progress. :) In our limited online interaction, you have also been very lovely!! Though so young!! /sadface of an old person

[identity profile] buta-chan.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
It makes you sad? :( I don't really complain though. I guess it just isn't the norm in our family, saying I love you. It's best known through actions. :) I remember, my dad bought me this book called 'Basta Love Life' [it's Tagalog, translates to: 'as long as it's about love life'] And I told him: Pa, I don't need it. I have NONE. -_- And my dad goes: Well, just it case.

My papa. ♥

I think we all try to be good people who are all works-in-progress. :) I'm 19? :))
