Happy Lunar New Year!
新年快乐! 恭喜发财！

It is the Year of the Rabbit: my year, meaning I will be old this year. This was the first year I celebrated it while in Asia and I conclude that the experience is hectic and crowded and very red.

Since I last updated, things of note that have occurred:

- Djokovic won the Australian Open! Congratulations, Nole.
- Torres transferred from Liverpool to Chelsea, inspiring many mixed or angry feelings on the parts of many people. In my head it is a bit like the Han Geng incident and my position is still the same: I support Torres individually and love him and want him to do well, but I'm not going to stop loving or following my team just because he's gone.
- I went to Super Show 3 both nights and had an amazing, amazing time. I touched Donghae (again!) twice, and Kyuhyun, Sungmin, Shindong, and Eeteuk once each. There is nothing like a Super Show; the performance and experience live cannot be captured in fancams and pics. Speaking of which, wow, might actually be crushing on Yesung because in person he is 1000x more gorgeous and endearing to me.
- I have full fancams of Henry's solo (cover of Justin Bieber's Baby), Kyuhyun's solo (cover of Jam Hsiao's 新不了情, and Yesung's solo (It Has To Be You).
- I essentially got back into kpop, albeit unwillingly but with many reminders of why I had fun in that fandom, and wrote crackfic about Kibum. I also fell back in love with Qmi and resume my persistent wish for a Qmi duet in Chinese; SJM comeback next month, oh please oh please.
- I saw Han Geng front and center during the 春节晚会/Spring Festival Eve Gala opening performance and did a double take. That is such a big deal - the television event of the year for China and for many Chinese overseas. Congrats, Hannie, I am like a proud mother, you don't even know--
- I sent mardigrasmaven off to the airport to head back to the States. We had an amazing time and I'm so glad she could come. Safe travels, babe!
- I bought hot red skinny jeans, a super-cute black-and-white dress, and will eventually have pics, probably on FB.
- Perhaps most importantly out of all this: I rediscovered my passionate love for Asian bakeries that cannot be put into words. ♥♥♥ Oh my god. Chocolate bread, matcha flavored cakes, pork floss buns, milk and coconut and custard and pastries and oh my god.

Everything ever is closed today because it is the new year, so I am doing my best not to starve to death slowly. In the meantime, this break is for getting lots of work done, because I have so much to catch up on and prepare for the future!

Mei do you ACTUALLY actually have arthritis. Because the last time I thought I had arthritis, it turned out that it was just really really bad posture. I'm sure that your posture is probably better, but IT COULD STILL BE SOMETHING THAT IS NOT ARTHRITIS. Incidentally when I thought that I had arthritis, I was trying to decide whether it was actually arthritis or lupus. It wasn't lupus. It was also not arthritis. Is your mattress sinking, because that happens-- oh oh oh wait omg this is something I learned last December that has changed my life-- if it's the sort of back pain that comes from bad mattresses, the one where you can't stand up straight and it's hard to breathe, it HELPS MAGICALLY if you lie down with your thighs and knees elevated on a pillow! And if you sleep in that position!

No I probably don't have arthritis for real, just lack of sleep. :( Though sometimes I wake up and my entire body aches! Maybe I do rhythmic gymnastics in my sleep and just don't realize it. On that note, I like firmer mattresses. :D Aren't they supposed to be better for you too? More support and everything.

Elevate my thighs and knees, really? I'd feel like I was ready to give birth...

I think a reasonable degree of firmness / softness is always the best bet when it comes to mattresses, but it's true that usually softer ones do tend to give you body aches in the morning... rest well Mei :(

Ahah. I have friend who turned 24 a couple months ago and insisted we wear black to her mourning/birthday dinner. Perhaps I will act differently when I turn 24, but I doubt it. But yes, good thing black is classic XD red jeans yes I want! So yes, I look forward to pics.
