Back from my travels afar and safely in Singapore, slaving away over two essays I have due tomorrow. But this note just has to be said:

I just put on SJM's new album to listen to for the first time and as soon as I hit track #2, 命運線 (Destiny), I started tearing up. Because this - this is cpop. This is sort of everything I've ever wanted from SJM (save a Qmi duet, always a Qmi duet.) I love the Super Girl minialbum to depths and breadths that cannot be conveyed in words, but this album-- This is cpop。 This is cpop (well, aside from track #1, which is kpop that just happens to be sung in Mandarin) that makes the twelve-year-old in me who wavered between her Chinese and American heritage so happy.

Judge away if you want, call me ridiculous (I am), but this isn't even fangirling, this is just happiness. Oh SJM, there are only so many times I can pun that you are too perfect, 太完美, but it's so fucking true.

From the hotass perfection that is Perfection to Mimi's lyrics (you total sap, forever and ever) to Henry's ridiculously catchy song to Jay fucking Chou and Kyuhyun's marvelous Chinese pronunciation. What do I have left to say but, Oh SJM.

yes yes yes this exactly +1092380983 on everything. I love this whole album to death and distraction because it's C-pop, pure and simple, and is going on all my C-pop comfort playlists when none of their songs have ever qualified before ;A; I can't even describe how happy and fulfilled this album makes me feel. I want to explode with joy and love every time it comes up. I've tried writing squee posts about 10 times since it came out and all I can ever muster is "This album makes me so happy," and when I try to describe why no words seem to do it justice. /o\

Jay Chou's song is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am never going to recover from Kyuhyun singing fucking Fang Wenshan's words oh my fucking God + Zhou Mimi imitating Jay Chou's singing style I just lasijuodijliodijo SJM is colliding with cpop in the best of ways and I am so happy. I am so glad you get it, some people are like "this album is boring" and I'm like BUT I JUST WANT TO SQUEE FOREVER ;_______; I AM SO HAPPY I WANT TO CRY AND IMPLODE EVERY TIME THE ALBUM PLAYS.

As an aside I only just got your mention (haven't been reading my twitter these past couple of days) and I can compile recs for you once I finish my homework ;A;

I can't even begin to express how glad I am that I am not the only one who feels this way! askdghfj I was like, I am totally ridiculous, aren't I? but I don't even care. This new brand of c-pop makes me so, so happy.

AND REALLY, THE HAPPINESS IS WHAT COUNTS IN THE END. What more do we need to say? The people who get it will get it and the people who don't will...just think we are ridiculous. D: WHATEVER. Even if Henry's solo sounds like Bieber in Chinese, what, I love this album like burning. ♥♥

And don't worry - homework first! I am hardly one to talk, what with my stupid number of essays I am finishing up. SJM is like the background thing that keeps me vaguely anchored to non-school reality but it cannot take over as my main focus just yet.

ahaha about halfway through done with the second paper. I was up at 6:30am thank you very much! Then I had to break to print and turn in paper #1. My life, my choices...

Somehow when I heard it, I thought you'd probably really love it ♥ Being the Chinese I am, I really thought the album was solid, and somehow not-korean >D There wasn't a track I particularly hated too... well, Perfection, I'm not too fond of, but that's all :D

Ugh I am basically BURSTING WITH JOY, Connie, you have no idea haha. Even the lack of sleep and the two essay writing isn't bringing me down. (One turned in now! One is half done, go go go.) And yeah you should totally not follow my example with that; I meant to get them done beforehand but with one thing and another (i.e., my complete lack of motivation), I didn't... But here we go, all I'm aiming to do is pass. Thank god for pass/fail study abroad semesters! (I had stress dreams about them a few times during my travels though haha.)

I love Perfection because it is so...idk, sexy and kpoppy, but really it is the rest of the album being so cpoppy and definitively not-Korean that brings me so much joy. ♥

:D i have been failing at keeping up with jay's activities, though i was super excited to see the green hornet (and omg would totally watch it again) and it was sooooooooooooooo good to hear something from him again, even if it was delivered by sjm. xD

HI MAI. I haven't seen the Green Hornet but I haven't seen any movies in ages so aslkdgdjf. I am sort of glad he's getting more international recognition now, though still, fuck Seth Rogen for not believing Jay was famous. More famous in Asia than you'll ever be in the States, Rogen! /displeased

Yeah, it was some interview or other and he might've been ~joking~ but he is a douche and I don't like him regardless so I am not really looking for excuses for him. Plus, you know. JAY.
