lol hay gaiz. o/ I'm alive! I'm back from my trips to Thailand & Taiwan, both of which were fun and had amazing food. Food pics later? I think so! Food is the key point in traveling, right? I'm leaving Singapore in a week, essentially, which makes me go AHHH WHERE DID ALL THE TIME GO? I WILL MISS EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE SO MUCH. Why can't I stay forever? ;__; It has been so much fun though. ♥

In other news, I have essentially quit Twitter (sorry, I am not ignoring you!), though I've been poking around weibo, and am not so much with posting a lot on LJ either lately, which may be evident. I have, however, been marathoning We Got Married (belatedly, I know, but this is the way I do things) and Khuntoria are my favorites (long involved meta thoughts on gender roles, foreigners, audience expectations here, but really it comes down to god they are so fucking cute ♥). I love Mr. Taxi so, so, so much, and I like f(x)'s comeback (Victoriaaaaa, Amberrrr). I have also been watching SJM shows leisurely at my own pace and continue loving the fuck out of my favorites and shipping the fuck out of my biases, but that is not really news, is it?

The question is how they're enjoying their long stay in Taiwan so far. Sungmin gives some long answer in Korean, everyone fidgets while the translator translates it back into Chinese, and then Zhou Mi speaks for a while, blah blah blah. When he's done, he nudges Kyuhyun to say somehing.

WOOK: I, when I don't have schedule, every day I go out to Dong Qu (Eastern District), Ximending (shopping/clubbing/gay district keke), nightmarkets, and... oh, Yangming Mountain! (ZM in bg: Yangming Mountain) I go out every day!

MI: Coming to Taiwan, the thing I feel the most is that the members' Chinese have all really improved. They've all been studying Chinese very hard. When we came to Taiwan before, because our schedules were very busy, we rarely went out. But now that we've come to live in Taiwan, with the help of various friends and teachers, we've all been able to go out lots of different places, and we can eat and learn Chinese at the same time. *stares at Kyuhyun for no reason*
KYU: *nods lazily*
MI: So, like Ryeowook and Kyuhyun, they've really improved a lot.
WOOK: Thank you!
KYU: *sound of denial* Didn't improve...

HENRY: Our Chinese teacher comes every day to our dorms. Every day, every day. And Ryeowook, especially, his Chinese has recently improved a lot!
WOOK: *proud beam, pats Henry's shoulder* Thank you!
HENRY: *pats him back* Really, really a lot. So I feel like I need to... I should--
MI: I think you've also improved a lot!
HENRY: Have I?
MI: You have! Because your Chinese used to be crap! (deliberately slangy criticism) *laughs, joking*
HENRY: ;_; ahah yeah, it used to be pretty crap. For me, Taiwan... Because when I was small I used to come here often to see relatives, now this time coming to Taiwan I'm really, really happy. I can see my relatives often and my mom and then...
MI: Gege, your gege's in Taiwan too!
HENRY: Right, he's in Taiwan! Gege! I forgot. I can see them all. So this time coming here, I'm really very happy.

I am at a place where I basically ship Henwook (EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME) and Henhae both super hard (things you always bring with you wherever you travel? Henry: my keyboard, my violin, other instruments... Donghae: *whispers* me, me! Henry: *puts arm around Donghae* oh yeah, and Donghae), still flail over Minry sometimes when it appears, and adore Henmi friendship so much I might explode (THEY ARE SO MEAN TO EACH OTHER ♥), and giggle over Miwon, and qmiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

I need jealous!Kyu in my life with the burning passion of a thousand suns. Only, now that I don't have the stress and pressure of school and deadlines, my will to write or participate in fandom in any half-meaningful way has been obliterated. Such is life!

better recently, what with reading qmi fics in chinese, haha. context helps a lot, as do online dictionaries. definitely not as good with reading as i am with speaking, but enough to understand fics if not newspapers.

ahh, did you start with learning traditional? Because of course it'd be easier with whatever you're more used to seeing. For me, simplified is what I've been learning all my life, but I've been reading enough Taiwanese stuff to recognize some traditional characters.
