Speaking of manga, a rec! BL. Ridiculous premise, naturally. Incredibly sweet and cute, oh my god, explosions of adorable and - get this - consent. Consent everywhere! Mutual respect! ;___________; IT IS SO CUTE OH MY GOD THE SEX SCENE IS SO CUTE/SWEET/STILL HOT.

Kouun no Rihatsushi by Nagato Saichi - Suffering from unrequited love, Todou Tsukasa, also called "the moody pillar", walks into a barbershop. The cheerful barber not only gives him a sexy new haircut, but also advice on how to better carry himself. Tsukasa takes that advice to heart and goes on to fame and success. But he never forgets the barber who helped him when he needed it, and so, he keeps dropping by the barbershop. However, confidence didn't come along with the new haircut nor the fame and success, and his feelings are neither conveyed nor understood well. (scanlated by DP)

Still want more KomaHoshi, though Yume Musubi Koi Musubi finally wrapped up! Also, I reread bits of Perfect Girl Evolution recently and it still makes me giddy with how silly and OTT it is. Shoujo? Sure, but only in the best cracky way.

Now I want to reread...FAKE. Slam Dunk. All the manga?

The hair does give a Kame vibe... I'M PERPETUALLY CONFUSED THOUGH, who's who in this drama?? I heard conflicting reports in the beginning. Judging from that pic Donghae is Sho, the rock star. Though who knows what's going to be changed for this version.

He must be Sho then ajfdlhka with the rocker clothes and blond hair and lol eyeliner. Ren's the "gentleman" actor who ends up mentoring Kyoko and he has a DARK ANGSTY PAST DUN-DUN-DUN. I liked Ren in the beginning but his melodrama is really wearing on me. This manga has terrible development pacing. I just like the acting part.

I know the feeling, oh man. But it is still exciting when we run into it! I'm sadly impressed every time a BL manga-ka actually addresses some of these BL tropes in a vaguely realistic manner. Now I wish this manga-ka had done more series!

To be fair, I used to be able to mostly overlook that! /o\ Sometimes I can still force myself to do it if I'm willing to suspend disbelief or the sake of an OTT BL clichefest, but it still makes me cringe a lot. It is easier to find something that manifests consent - er, well, for a relative definition of "easy", I suppose.

With Skip Beat I actually generally ignore most of the boys and just lol my way through Kyoko's silly reactions. Oh, and I like the way she slowly develops as an actress with character development. I kind of think Sho and Ren are both assholes ... just in different ways? Idk, I haven't poked at that series for a while.

Ooh, I did not know Ren was also an asshole? From my skimming, it seemed like he was presented as the Good Guy vs. Sho's more obvious assholism? Though, in shoujo, I'm more used an Asshole with a secret heart of gold that will inevitably end up with the Main Female Protagonist vs. the Nice Guy, who is sometimes secretly an asshole but will never get the girl no matter how nice he is to her. @_@ Skip Beat, defying shoujo formulas!

Well, my problem with Ren came kind of later when he started liking her. For the most part he's okay, but I find he manipulates her at times just because he's jealous and that makes me :|

I kind of liked her earlier work Crazy Tokyo Paradise. Tsukasa was adorable but completely badass, and I like badass females.
