it's funny how you always want to spend money when you don't have any
Things I am enjoying:
I got caught up on Yotsuba&! and it is full of delight. There's just something about how straightforward and simple that manga is, the day-to-day adventures of a strange five-year-old discovering the world. There was a recent chapter about ordering pizza and getting it delivered - and that was it, but it was great. It made me hungry.
I started watching random episodes of Running Man, which is a hysterically funny Korean variety show. Wiki gives a brief synopsis of it, but it sounds much weirder and more boring than the actual show is. Of course I started watching it after hearing the hype and because there were idols I was interested in guesting in a few episodes; from there on, though, you really start appreciating the main cast, too. But the guesting idols are still hilarious - Yoona & Sunny! Nichkhun & Taecyeon! Yunho & Changmin! Yonghwa! Daesung! Jessica! Heechul! Siwon. Oh Siwon, I always want to punch you in the face, even when you are hilarious.
Things I am excited about:
Warrior comes out this Friday! It's getting a lot of good reviews, which makes me happy. :D T-HARD, T-HARD!! I haven't been to the movies forever (aside from HP, it's probably been close to a year) and I really want to see it in theaters, but I don't think I have anyone to go with me. All my guy friends into MMA are halfway across the country, and all my girl friends into Tom Hardy are at minimum five hours away from me. Sad.
Not sad: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy coming out this year! This Means War next year! Gary Oldman's epic romance with Tom Hardy! Such good things.
New Discworld book out in October! It's about Vimes. It's going to be a satire of the English mystery genre! I am filled with such gleeful anticipation. :D :D :D
Things I am thinking about:
I am thinking seriously of getting an e-reader because I'm sick of staring at my computer screen all the time. I want to read books! Fic! Manga! All conveniently in one place, without straining my eyes all the time. I have been particularly swayed of late after discovering that all of Andrew Lang's Fairy Books are out of copyright and freely available. Omg.

I have a Kindle and I love it! I've been powering through a lot of Classics because they are free on Amazon.
What are these Fairy books? They're free somewhere?

Yeeees, these Fairy books (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Lang's_Fairy_Books) are all free for DL on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/The-Blue-Fairy-Book-ebook/dp/B000JQUM1C) and elsewhere! I'm a total sucker for fairy tales (the older and grimmer, the better) and derivative fiction based off them.

And Running Man! I love that show so much. Most of the guests are really awesome on the show (have you seen the episode with Hyun Joong? one of my fave episodes lol), except for the older actors who try to win by using their seniority (so to speak). I started putting together a primer about RM, but I keep on procrastinating. Whoops. /kicks self to get back on track

Running Man is SO funny. I haven't seen the episode with Hyun Joong! I've mostly been skipping around at random rather than watching in order, but I'm sure I'll get to all of them eventually. (I tend to like the younger guests better too, I think, but that might just be because I actually know who they are!)
Also, eee, icon!

I totally want to see this film too. But I won't be going tomorrow night, since my sensei contacted me and I'm going back to training again. It'll be awesome, especially since we're training out of a judo school now, which means grappling training on top of the striking training.
Afterward, though, I will want to see it. Want to see how well they capture MMA.

I actually don't know if I can see it tonight either, because I have crap to do (less exciting than training). One of my friends into the MMA says almost all MMA movies tend to be crap, but on the other hand this movie's gotten good reviews, so he's torn, haha. I'm like, just go see it and decide for yourself!

I'm thinking about the Nook Simple Touch! It's gotten great reviews, I like that it's touchscreen, and the fact that it takes epubs and pdfs, which are the more common ebook formats. You can also check out ebooks from your library! Kindle is good in a lot of ways but it only takes its special Kindle format (and pdfs) - which is still workable, but would involve a lot more converting if you wanted to put fic or other ebooks on it. :/ Why so unfriendly??
I've done so much research this week, lol, I could talk forever. I have fandom specific uses in mind, you know? Fic and manga reading ability is important to me, along with the books!

Just make sure whatever you get has a search function. A friend has one without a search option and trying to find a specific book (especially once you've loaded your entire collection onto the reader) can take a ridiculously long time.

He used to grate on me when I thought he was 'Prince Siwon the gentleman(TM)', but now that I know that he is a clingy, petty, expressive dork I love him. The former seems fakey and put-on to me, but the latter is much more loveable. ^.^ I really loved that Running Man episode where they addeded little *swish* *tink* *ahha!* sound effects to all of his big Italian gestures. That there is a triumph of editing.
