things on my mind: delicious/pinboard and shirtless!puck

Extreme displeasure at Delicious fiasco aside (way to remove every useful feature), I'm really entertained and sort of mistily proud of how quickly and broadly fandom mobilizes. The most popular alternative at the moment seems to be Pinboard, which is ideal in many ways and yet not others, so users have gotten together to make a list things they'd like improved/implemented and a search function/directory to keep track of Delicious→Pinboard users. Delicious promises in its blog that it's retained all our old information (tag bundles, subscriptions, networks, etc.) and will eventually be making them public and usable again, but who knows? It's hard not to regard them with a fair amount of suspicion, I feel.

I was meiface@Delicious and am meitachi@Pinboard. Drop me a comment to let me know who you are!

In other news, Amazon's released two new touch Kindles for $149 and $99, and the cheapest of all Kindles for $79, which is tiny and lightweight (no keyboard), but not touch. I guess I'm glad I put off buying an e-reader earlier, but I have to admit I'm still inclined towards the Nook until I hear more user reviews on the new touch Kindles. (I retain my reservations about Kindle refusing to read epubs though.)

Things I've been doing recently aside from job-hunting: crushing on Puck from Glee even though I don't watch the show (Mark Salling is hot, okay, shirtless and also while singing Sweet Caroline); taking small but concrete steps towards moving to DC; getting all sorts of medical-type appointments through with so I can lay to rest my eternal paranoid fears of CANCER, ALWAYS CANCER, YOU WILL DIEEEE; watching assorted shows (MLP:FiM Season 2! H50 Season 2! The end of Khuntoria! Need to catch up with Top Chef!); and reading lots of Agatha Christie and Pterry.

Also, investigating in depth the MBTI personality types, mostly for fun. I am INFJ always and forever, and the type I'm drawn to crushing on are ESFPs (even though the ones I've dated have been more ISTJ/ISTP - but look how those turned out so great). ESFPs probably attract me because they're everything I'm not but wish I could be, but still allow me to feel some sort of human connection to them due to the F. Yes, we have so many feelings~ (Most of my closest friends are Ts. They don't get all this feelings crap. ;;) I don't know that I could do long-term with them, but I have commitment issues anyway!

They don't get all this feelings crap. LOL. EXACTLY. Unless we're talking about DADT/DOMA/Tea Partiers/etc. then it's GRRR. RAWR. ANGER! FEELINGS! NO! YOU'RE WRONG! (Also I figured out why I loathe rain so much: it's like the ultimate P and I *can't control* it!!!)

Also: have you heard Puck's song, Beth, to his daughter?! TEAR ♥ Also Also: WTF WITH H50'S EPISODE?! KONO D;

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
lol even then you don't care about anyone's feelings; admit it. You're just mad because they're dumb and wrong.

Also! If you cannot control rain, just prepare for it like a proper J!

Still haven't watched H50 haha. Went running instead. So tiiiired.

lol even then you don't care about anyone's feelings; admit it. You're just mad because they're dumb and wrong.

Hahahaha, this - so true! IT'S OKAY MEI, WE CAN HAVE FEELINGS TOGETHER /cling!

[identity profile] celerywench.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
OH! Wait are we using F to mean caring about *OTHER* people's feelings?!!....T_T Oh. I was thinking that I can express ~MY~ feelings - yaknow, in that irrational, ridiculously heartfelt way Fs seem to gravitate towards! I was trying to ~bond~ with you Mei ;_;

I feel like if I had any mechanical/technical/engineering/science/math/etc. skills, I'd use them to find a way to circumvent rain. OR ACCURATELY PREDICT IT >_>

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
F means sensitivity to and care of other peoples' feelings, not the ability to have feelings of your own. Clearly you have lots of feelings and so far they seem pretty condescending to anyone who's an F, i.e., "irrational and ridiculously heartfelt".

As an F, I'm thrilled. And, you know, a little hurt. I know you don't mean it that way, seriously, but sometimes a little thoughtfulness would not go amiss, especially when you know you have friends who are full of FEELINGS. I don't want to be treated like those feelings are invalid or like I have to be defensive of them simply because someone else in the same situation wouldn't feel the same way.

And, yep, I'm a total NF, who just sat here for twenty minutes worrying about how you would feel after this comment. Ilu, Lille, but seriously. Once in a while. Think of your poor suffering F friends.

[identity profile] celerywench.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, but I love your feelings! And I mean that totally seriously. I think it's awesome. I just. Don't feel the same. Or don't like feeling the same. A little bit of both. Just because I don't show mine doesn't mean I value yours any less though Mei. If anything, I'm jealous of how well you articulate them, especially in relation to your thoughts on societal things/news.

What Agatha Christie mysteries have you been reading? I've only read a few of her books and just borrowed two from the library today, but I'm always open to book recs. :)

I'm an INFJ/P, so high-five~

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly her Hercule Poirot ones right now! Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, Evil Under the Sun, Cards on the Table were all good. I read a lot of her Miss Marple books when I was younger too, and they're all good for a good mystery. After a while you start picking up on the hints and foreshadowing (and red herrings!) she'll drop; I managed to almost entirely figure out Death on the Nile and was so proud of myself, haha.

Also, Sherlock Hooooolmes. /fond

As INFs, we have so many feelings! It can be tough sometimes (too many feelings!) but mostly it's good. :

[identity profile] ky-rin.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
I am...
INFP. most definitely. Had to double check to make sure I wasn't an INFJ, only because I keep forgetting.

FEEEEELINGGSSSSSS. We has them.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You're the ~idealist~! Yes, we have lots of feelings. It can be hard. ;__; But let us cuddle and bemoan our feelings together.

[identity profile] ky-rin.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I am so tempted by the Kindle ;; But no, NOT TILL I READ ALL MY BOOKS.

Eeee, I should go figure out what type of personality type I crush on! al;skdjasd I never really thought about it :x

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
haha well if we're going solely by your ginormous crushes on Sungmin & Hyukjae, it's ISFJ.

[identity profile] xelloss-poo.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
(I retain my reservations about Kindle refusing to read epubs though.)

Just to mention this, there online and downloadable converters for the various publication types (some even get rid of that nasty drm that comes with books your purchase sometimes). Because just like Kindles don't read .epub and .lit, Nooks don't read .lit or .azw/.mobi format. So any e-reader you get, you will probably end up needing to convert some documents to a supported file type at some point.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I know! I did some intense research on e-readers a few weeks back, haha. Thanks though1 I guess I'm just sulky that epubs are more widespread and basically every e-reader but the Kindle will read them; plus libraries that now loan out e-books tend to do them in epub format, rather than azw/mobi. I'm not against converting things on principle (I expect when I finally get an e-reader, many a fic will be converted to PDF for my reading pleasure), but it annoys me that the Kindle has to have its own special, unique format.

I was trying to import my delicious bookmarks to Pinboard, but apparently delicious gave everything the same time stamp (?), so I can't use "earlier" to look at earlier links. Hopefully delicious is fixing that. I do like Pinboard so far though! And the response from support's been pretty quick/nice. (I'm outfight @ Pinboard).

WOOHOO, you're coming to DC~!

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Eventually, slowly! I really do need an apartment and a steady income. :( I can't wait until the day I can fall into a boring daily routine there, so I can fill in the gaps around work with fun things like seeing you!

I think @Pinboard or someone pointed out a fix-it for the timestamp issue; actually, I think Delicious finally fixed it so if you want to re-export and then re-import, they timestamps will be correct.

[identity profile] notbang.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I am waiting for the day~! ♥

I re-exported my Delicious bookmarks and the timestamps issue was sorted, whew. :D

[identity profile] catskilt.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
WHAT HAS DELICIOUS DONE, I immensely dislike the new layout :(

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It's awful and useless now! I have many gripes. :( They might fix it eventually, but for now I'm using Pinboard.

I've never bothered to do the entire MBTI test thing. Could the whole personality type introspection thing also be a function of your personality type?

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's the J aspect, considering the friend who got me seriously into this is a J. We like order! Maybe we need a nice neat category to fit everything in, including ourselves.
ext_9946: (Default)

[identity profile] forochel.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
What does "J" mean? Hmm. What do you think I am, then? I googled the test and tried starting it again, but then I just got really annoyed by the yes/no nature of the questions. It was like, well sometimes I'm like this and sometimes I'm like that; why is there no "it depends" option?!

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
It means 'judging' but not how we typically use it! Mostly it means the need to be super organized and plan ahead, while the other option (P for perceiving!) means more able to see what's up and go with the flow. I am clearly so scientific in my descriptions, haha. Wiki or elsewhere on the net probably does a better job explaining it.
ext_9946: (Default)

[identity profile] forochel.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
ohhhh. hmmmm. it'd be nice to be a P :) I feel like that sort of person would be a great team leader.

[identity profile] chaos-harmony.livejournal.com 2011-09-29 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoooooo INFJs represent! Though the tests occasionally mistake me for INTJ, which I personally find hilarious. Suspect that this is because for an F-person, I can be catastrophically bad at feelings. /facepalms.

I think I'm attracted to most E-something-P types, just because they tend to have a lot of charisma and an, ah, admirable amount of energy/enthusiasm that I tend to lack. |D

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
That's funny - you've always struck me as more T than F! But to be fair mostly what I get from your posts are your exciting life adventures abroad or with boys, haha. Maybe your F/T aspects are not too far apart?

Oh my god, E-types. Attractive, but sometimes in a tiring way! Which is why I'm sometimes skeptical about whether that would be a good fit, but they do say opposites are good for each other. (But maybe not too opposite. Or opposite with some understanding for differences!)

infjs \o/ feelings ;;; way too many feelings ;;;
hadn't used delicious much but am watching the migration+fandom movement with glee haha

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-09-30 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh, I miss the old Delicious so much. ;; using Pinboard for now and pretty happy with it, especially considering the owner is great and interested in implementing more features fandom has loudly pleaded for.

So I realized (somewhat belatedly, with my new lack of Twitter) that you and the whole group are going to SM Town with one of my best friends! 8D It's like all the Qmi fans/Mi-stans I know are going to be in one place. Awesome.
kitschful: (Default)

[personal profile] kitschful 2011-09-30 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was actually in the middle of going through a tag of recs the night they moved and all of a sudden it changed and just... what. :| SO UGLY. Oh and the Pinboard owner sounds so cool ;;; haha

Ohh Lille? :DDD Yes ^^ So excited to meet people, this is actually going to be my first concert-y concert experience >.> so we shall see lol. Q/Mimimi fans \o/

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Eee have a fantastic time! Y'all are gonna need group pics, okay. Especially holding Mimi support banners and towels. :D
