stevie and nando used to be a matched set too :(

Today's el Clásico: Barcelona 3-1 Real Madrid

A fairly accurate summary of my feelings: Well. Fuck everything about my life. Barca, despite you being 90% the Spanish NT of my heart, I STILL HATE YOU GDI STOP SCORING.

Here, have a picture of CriKá, because it makes me feel better:

(There are others where they are hugging, or linking arms, or ruffling hair, but I like the aesthetics of this one. :D For your edification, though, you should definitely go look at all the touching.)

In other football news, I am glad Liverpool is doing better this season. (Thought part of my soul cries forever and goes DAMMIT NANDO, WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE STUCK IT OUT, BLUE IS SO BAD FOR YOUR COMPLEXION.) I'm not willing to forgive Luis Suárez totally for his handball during the World Cup, but how well he's doing for Liverpool goes a long way towards making me not hate him. :D Also, Stevie G., does anyone get injured as much as you? Jesus. Stop pulling that groin muscle. OR ELSE STRETCH IT MORE.

Ahem.

I forgot what I wanted to post here as life's been distracting. So here are some assorted updates:

1. Still in love with One Piece. Have rediscovered doujinshi and found some incredible scanlated ones (I will rec if you wish!). There are definite pros to getting into a big fandom and to shipping a mainstream pairing, negl. Am stupidly, happily giddy over it.

2. Been doing crosswords with a vengeance. TELL ME SOMEONE ELSE ENJOYS THEM AS MUCH AS I DO.

3. Externing (i.e., slaving away for free) with the state government for the next few months: it's pretty interesting stuff, but the full time hours can drag and are, on the whole, exhausting. I come home and want to do nothing but gorge on fic/books and sleep.

4. Reading [livejournal.com profile] hd_holidays and Agatha Christie (always! still!) and webcomics: I follow Oglaf (dirty magical fantasyland humor), Teahouse (yaoi-tastic brothel with visits from royalty), and just recently, from [livejournal.com profile] naninande's rec, Orange Marmalade, an adorable translated-from-Korean high school het romance featuring vampires that don't sparkle.

5. I challenge all of you to read Fox In Socks out loud. Just because it's a fun way to spend five minutes. (I actually own a hard copy of this book. I take it out occasionally and inflict it upon my friends with glee, as [livejournal.com profile] thyme_hawthorne can verify.) Don't get tongue-tied!

6. Writing sucks. Pulling out hair and whining endlessly is part of my writing process, okay?

CRIKA MAKES EVERYTHING BETTER ALL THE TIME TRUFAX~~ ♥♥

Like I said before, I adore some of the Barca players, I just kind of... hate Barca on principle. Also, Messi makes me irrationally angry though that might have to do with that way all most so many sports commentators rave about him all the time.

On a related note, the new Real Madrid away kits are super cute (gold on black! so classy ♥), but they cost ridiculous amounts of money and I can't quite justify getting one :( I still need a Kaká jersey to mach my Cronaldo one! That's reason enough, right?

Re: writing, if you need hand-holding and cheerleading, I am here for you! /smishes ♥♥

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
I don't dislike Messi, he just sort of annoys me when he's there. Getting in the way. I had a lot more anger towards Suárez in the WC, haha. And yet, club and NT loyalties are so very different.

I generally approve of RM's colors and kits. ♥ You should definitely get a Kaká jersey at some point! I have my LFC Gerrard and Spain Torres one, even though they are both destroying my heart ugh alskdjfl.

I just want things to write themseeeeeelves. :(

I basically only root for Real Madrid when they play Barcelona, and they couldn't even get it together to fucking beat them. Jose Mourinho why so useless? Grrrr.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
They are my La Liga team, but tbh I don't pay that much attention to them unless they play Barca because they usually win... Something about Barca though - gets them every time. :( TRAGEDY.

That Dr. Seuss poem was such a tongue-twister! I read it out loud, and towards the end it just became ridiculous (but still lots of fun!).

I wanted to thank you for listing the webcomics you read--they look great, and I'd never heard of them before! I'm always on the lookout for, as you say, yaoi-tastic webcomics. Before now the only one I had heard of was Starfighter (http://starfightercomic.com/). So thank you! :)

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Teahouse is a lot of fun! The thing about keeping up with ongoing webcomics is always the wait for updates though. ;__; I'm so impatient.

Oglaf has a lot of slashy (and femslashy and het) stories and elements too, but it's not as full of familiar BL tropes like Teahouse.

Fox in Socks makes my mouth hurt.

I'd love some One Piece doujinshi recs! Especially any recently scanned ones, but I'll take any. It's soon time for a reread anyhow. :D

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
hehe it's fun though!

Oooh, recs, okay! Here (http://www.arigatomina.com/downloads/djs/onepiece/index.html) are a bunch of scanlated ones, most of which are from this year. My favorites are by Hachi Saruya and Yamato because their art is amazing - so canon like - and they keep in the humor and ridiculous crew antics. All of these are all great quality though!

I also love this one (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G3DBCHMP) for being smutty but not in the stereotypical yaoi way and everyone retains their ICness. Plus! ZORO BOTTOMS. I could go on forever about why I prefer it this way but alskdjfld. :D

[identity profile] emeraldcrystal.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yay thank you! I'll be going through to see which ones I have downloaded and then get the rest. Thanks!

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-12-12 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
There are actually a bunch more in LJ comms, but you have to join them. A few specific recs off the top of my head of the few whose names I actually remember, lol: Grand Martini (they wear suits! there are fight scenes! sex in public!), Yves Piaget (cracky and great expressions), Kierkegaard no Jitsuzon (more thoughtful/philosophical), and No Number (and its sequel No Number 2, which are Japanese high school AU student/teacher lol - the others are canon).

All of those are from [livejournal.com profile] futari_kiri and I think the majority are by Yamato.

Seconding the quest for OP doujinshi recs!

Since I didn't see the match I wasn't too depressed, but still. Real Madrid. Why.

...I just read Fox in Socks and now I can't talk or spell correctly. Ow. Also, one of my slipups was totally not child friendly. Note to self: NEVER READ THAT STORY TO CHILDREN.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Everything here (http://fishingfor.livejournal.com/450877.html) and there are more great ones from [livejournal.com profile] futari_kiri - which requires joining, but it's not moderated joining or anything. Super easy access and worth it. ♥

Also 3.2% (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G3DBCHMP), which I mentioned above.

haha Fox in Socks ♥ I love Dr. Seuss. And Shel Silverstein. And so many nostalgic children's books. T^T

:'3

that away kit is very nice, though.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2011-12-11 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Madrid just has nice kits in general :'> Though in the end Barca still wins, ugly kit and all. SAD FOR ME.

[identity profile] kitsune-jade.livejournal.com 2011-12-13 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn. Seriously, RM need to get over whatever psychological block they have in performing well in the Clasico. Anyway, the best thing that came out of the match is this

SUCH A GREAT GIF. :DDD Poor Xavi, stuck between CriKá and Kaká's mini tantrum, lmao.
