Thanksgiving 2020
Not traveling for the holidays, so getting some local Thanksgiving takeout -- plus some mini pies, in perfect portion size, from an Austin bakery. We'll celebrate in our new house, with ample food that I cooked pre-Thanksgiving and more to cook later, along with a pile of books from the library and a list of presents to purchase from small businesses for close family and friends. We have much to be grateful for, including the fact that the presidential transition is finally underway and there are multiple vaccine candidates that might make 2021 better. We both have our health and our jobs, and family and friends who take the virus seriously, and an adorable cat.
And yet it is okay to struggle as well with mental health and burnout; it doesn't negate the real gratitude or acknowledgment of our fortunate circumstances. But this is a lighter work week because of Thanksgiving, and I will welcome the chance to focus on cooking/eating, reading, and thinking of ways to convey to my loved ones that I am glad for them in my life.
