also the figure skating made me laugh, because oh dear lord now that I'm watching for it I can see it & it's absolutely terrible that I can spot the footwork. WHY IS SPORTS FANDOM.

No seriously, I am loling over how gleeful the announcers in that video are, like TEE HEE LOOK AT TINY JEFF SKINNER FIGURE SKATE HEE HEE HE'S SO ADORABLE!! That is basically what they're thinking. But, dude, boy was hardcore - he competed in both figure skating and hockey and was pretty good at both before he decided to focus only on hockey. Talented tiny bb thing. *___*

Jonathan Toews! Eric Staal! Sidney Crosby! Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, etc etc. Like, three Blackhawks were called up to Team Canada!! They're a big deal. (The fourth went to Team USA, haha.)

You are tempted to click on links, I know you are! And in the meantime, I am trying to learn more about the actual game too, because watching the games are actually really fun too, rather than just reading fic or whatever. :D

I just watched that bb!Skinner figure skating video again (I'M NOT A PERV I SWEAR) and I just realized, why is there not a Cutting Edge AU where Eric Staal, ex-hockey player has to team up with Jeff Skinner to form the first male-male competitive figure skating duo (without wandering into Blades of Glory territory). TOE PICK ESTAAL TOE PICK

Alternatively, in a less crazy scenario, single dad Eric is teaching his son how to skate and Jeff joins in and teaches bb!Staal some figure skating moves while Eric looks on and FALLS IN LOVE FOREVER.
