when I shared a city with them, I didn't care about hockey :(

So when I got into hockey fandom via random Hawks-centric fic, all I knew about Backes and Oshie was Tazer-related and pretty tainted with EW GROSS.

Well then I went and got bored and started finding out more stuff about them and developing feelings.

DAVID BACKES

On April 10, Kelly Backes, a board member for Five Acres, and David Backes, captain of the St. Louis Blues, flew to Kentucky to pick him up. David Backes has a pilot's license and has gone on several trips to rescue dogs for the shelter. (source)

Let's start with Backes. First of all, he's the kind of guy who really annoys the living daylights out of us regular schmoes. Captain of the Blues pulling down $ 4.5 million a season? We're good with that. But did he really have to marry the girl he met in kindergarten, where both their mothers were in the PTA?

What's up with the 4.0 GPA three years at Minnesota State-Mankato? Oh yeah and he just got his pilot's license which came in handy recentley when he flew 700 miles from St.Louis to Houston to rescue three dogs. Yes, Backes is perfect, almost. Makes you wonder why the former Kelly Knapp waited until senior year to start dating him. Kelly was taller than Backes and he was, well, kind of a nerd.

Jeff has started taking fashion advice from the same place Claude does or something because HE IS WEARING A PLAID SUIT. I mean, the gingham jacket was already WTF but this - you might have to squint a bit but I have, idk, an intrinsic all-natural hippie vibe for plaid suits, okay?



Is it, like, a thing? The plaid suit STD of the NHL? A law of some sort? The Giroux Law: the longer you're in the league, the more likely you will be to end up in a plaid suit. Don't run. It will find you no matter where you go or what else you try to wear.
