happy, happy birthday lille!

Hey celerywench, I hear it's your birthday -

And I already gave you your gifts (BUY SOME HIPSTER GLASSES) but you deserve a love post too. So. Brace yourself.

Dear Lille,

It's still hilarious and weird to me that we've known each other since we were six, then forgot about each others' existence for approximately 15 years, and then found each other again through Louise and kpop. So we can't be bitter about kpop too much, right? It gave us Zhou Mi and a Korean-drama-appropriate finding of each other. (dramatic music)

I've been saying for years now probably that you're like a little sister to me, but then I think - well, you're more a friend than a sibling. But then I'm like, oh, is this what people mean when they say their sisters are like their best friends and someone they can talk to about anything? Is this what it might be like to have a sibling who's not 9 years apart in age?? I have no idea. But! We might as well be siblings for all our family/parental/mother issues... For all that we share and can talk about despite being, in many ways, so very different.

I will always think this is an accurate summary of our relationship:



We've seen the best and worst of each other, we are ridiculous and hilarious and judgy and terrible. We despair at the world and ourselves, we hate people, we struggle with our respective issues, we flail and explode with the dreaded feels (then moan about those damned feels), we laugh, we drink, we talk, we speculate, we dream.

It's hard to imagine my life without you in it - or even remember when that was a time (during those years where we forogt about each other, haha). I was looking back at one of my journal entries from 2007 when we'd just "started to get to know each other". A little surreal.

I'm super glad I'm in DC now and super glad we're in each others' lives. We will always be there to judge each other, mock each other, support each other...judge and mock other people, flail over hockey and other things, and all the best and worst and terriblazing things we do.

You're awesome and incredible and you should believe it more often. Thanks for being you and continue being you for all the years to come. :D Happy birthday!
