DOUSHITE?! (wailed Miaka to Tamahome tearfully)
Happy December! Apparently CLAMP is returning with a new xxxHOLiC series. What the actual fuck, CLAMP. After you pissed off all your remaining fans with the ending of original HOLic (The Professor's Wife will forever remain my HOLiC canon), you still choose not to finish X/1999 and instead troll us harder. I swear they like to see their fans suffer as much as their characters. And yet they are still among my favorite manga-ka with some of my favorite series...
I remember enjoying the first volume of Gate 7 that I read, though I also remember thinking I would get so much more out of it if I were better familiar with Japanese history. I haven't managed to read through the new Legal Drug/Drug & Drop because the change in art style threw me so much (same issue with the new FAKE sequel). I did enjoy Kobato, though I suppose it makes sense since I loved WISH too. But really, I do miss their older stuff. It is hard to top CCS in terms of ~my feels~, because I am really just a twelve-year-old girl at heart, without the magical sparkly powers.
But this is maybe a good nudge back towards manga. Teen Wolf fic is feeling very samey-samey these days, on top of the fandom imploding with wank. I am avoiding all of that except for Tyler Hoechlin's face. Anyway, this month there will be H/D to read! But I definitely think some manga will be a nice fannish distraction too.
My fannish life is so scintillating these days, lol. I had some excitement over MAMA 2012, mostly in boggling at Adam Lambert performing (Amber singing along wtaf alskdfjslkfh), screeching with glee over Wang Lee Hom performing, and sort of just...completely uncomprehending of GD and Yesung sitting next to each other. That said, aw, congrats Suju, even though I feel kind of bad for Kangin to be back in a group where his two best friends/troublemakers are gone. BUT MOSTLY I HAD A LOT OF BIG BANG LOVE. And I will never not love Epik High - their performance and how much they rocked out to BB. ♥ YG family love.
Re the post title: Fushigi Yuugi will forever be my go-to series for the most anguished romantic wailing (both towards the respective true love and also to the fates)

WANG LEEHOOOOOOOM, I LOVE HIM. :D

Wang Leehom and his voice is excellent! I love good cpop, although it was a bit weird to see that collide with kpop - not that weird since SJM, of course, and not nearly as weird as Glambert and kpop but. Mostly this all brings me back to wanting SJM lol.

Thanks for the Adam link. I haven't been following him since the end of Glam Nation Tour, but I'm glad to see Tommy Joe looking as doe-eyed and waiflike as ever. Also glad to see him playing guitar! He only played bass on GNT because Monte was already in the band, as I recall.

As far as I can glean from the outskirts before running away, S3 casting mostly - potential love interests (idek for whom), racial issues (particularly for a character named after a Hindu goddess), Jeff deleting/locking down his Twitter because he can't handle criticism/trolling (not sure which, or both), Sterek (always) aaaand possibly also whether or not Stiles is going to keep Dylan's hair or get a buzzcut. And whose fault in fandom everything is, of course. There is a lot of shouting and finger-pointing and general clusterfuckedness.
Best to avoid, I think.
But yes, Tommy looked great! Adam threw me by having facial hair, hah. But he also tweeted that kpop stars dressed FIERCE and I know kpop fans had a field day with that.

My 60 year aunt is an Adam Lambert stan and she's been spamming me about MAMA and kpop and it's so weird.
I bought the first volume of Gate 7 but I wasn't hooked like I have been with their previous series. Maybe I'll check it out a few more volumes before giving up.
lol Fushigi Yuugi, the pride and embarrassment of my middle school years. Nuriko stan 4 lyfe

Gate 7 still strikes me as very later-arc TRC/HOLiC-esque (mysterious spirits, a wide organization of people in the background who haven't all been introduced, endless secrets, an "ordinary" protagonist who gets dragged in over his head, epic fighting, an excuse to draw gorgeous outfits) but also relies very heavily on Japanese history. It's a bit heavy and I know I tend to enjoy the feel-good adorable fluff and funny interactions that was much of their earlier works (and Kobato, kind of), but I think that's partly because I no longer trust CLAMP not to mindfuck us over with their convoluted plots lol.
Ahaha surreal fandom moments when Western glam meets kpop.
NURIKO WAS MY FAVORITE TOO.

Fushigi Yuuggi! Second all time favorite! Geez, I haven't read manga in ages. That was one of the last ones before I gave up that ghost.

Oh Fushigi Yuugi, the first anime I was fannish about, lol. It seems like ages ago. Which is your first all time favorite?

My all time favorite ever is Sanctuary though I didn't watch the anime. I read the books and fell in love.
All time favorite anime? Hakkenden: Legend of the Dog Warriors!

And only 12 volumes - maybe I should give it a go. It's nice and meaty without being ridiculously long like, uh, One Piece, which is on something like its 68th volume. (Worth it though. LOVE One Piece. Though my favorite manga of all time is probably Hikaru no Go.)

And now I need to go find the filthy smut. Thank you:)

I am so distracted right now by Star Trek and H/D but I'll see if I can't carve out some manga appreciation time. :D

I laugh only because you always seem knee deep in whatever has your attention!
