Oh man, happy hockey day? Western conference teams went well. Eastern conference teams were a shit show. I'm really glad Hawks and Blues did so well! We got to see the season-opening goal by Kaner, and it was beautiful. ♥ I'm really glad for him and Tazer and Hossa, even if the game was littered with penalties. And I didn't watch the Blues game against the Wings but Oshie got a goal. Yay! Stars held up against Yotes (fuck the Yotes), and Jagr put up points. Jaaaags.

On the other hand, I am put out by basically every Eastern conference result. Okay, not every, but my teaaams. The worst part is at least the Flyers had a decent offensive and created some solid chances, even if they couldn't follow through on them. Although their power play was a disgrace. But so was that RIDICULOUS PENALTY called on Giroux in the last minute. There was no tripping of Letang, FUCK OFF. At least G's goal was so pretty. Too bad for that barely offsides near-breakaway in the third. Fuuuck. He coulda buried that.

As for the Caps, they started off well and then completely lost their momentum and their heads after the first shot on goal and resulting goal from the Lightning. Ugh. Holtbyyyy. ;___; I hate to see him so discomposed. Joel Ward was awesome, but it just seemed like they couldn't get their offense together enough for decent zone pressure and eventually just fell apart.

And then the Canes. THE CANES. To be honest, I was pretty drunk and distraught by this point, but it was the worst because they were a hot fucking mess and it did not like they had any of their shit together, offensively or defensively. HI, WHAT IS THIS GOALTENDING JOB YOU SPEAK OF? And both Skins and Semin ended up in the box at points in the night. Control your rage issues, goddammit. Draw the penalties. EVERYTHING WAS GALKSDJFLSKGH. D:

UGH, WORST EVER.

All told, though, and despair aside, I'm actually really glad hockey is back. Getting to watch it is AWESOME. And it's only the first day of the season, so there's hope yet.

And hey, UNC and Liverpool won! I'm just not allowed a day where all my teams do well, apparently.

More hockey tomorrow!

But sleep first, and then coffee and some cooking before we do this all again. I'm so glad hockey's back.

I'm still not quite sure why people love the Canes, I mean like, is it the Staals/Jeff Skinner/Raleigh overall being pretty awesome? But then again, I've always kind of supported the Blue Jackets who generally suck(they won though! :D) so I AM NOT ONE TO WONDER WHY PEOPLE CHEER FOR THE TEAMS THEY CHEER FOR!

Okay, apparently I am. But still, I'm from Ohio, so I'm all desensitized to horrible sports teams in general and was brainwashed from a young age to cheer for the Browns and stuff before there was any hope for my salvation.

well I am from Raleigh, NC, and that is why the Canes are my team above all else lol. It is hard to be a fan of them otherwise, I feel, because they keep sucking. T__T my sympathies for CBJ. But Ohio has great xollege football! And occasionally great basketball!

It helps that I love Skinner & the Staals, but seriously teaaaaam, get your shit together.

I vaguely want the Blues to do well because I went to school in St. Louis and also because David Backes is an amazing and unreal person. And Caps because I live in DC right now, and Flyers just because I fell in love with their team and players last season. I HAVE REASONS FOR EVERYTHING, though maybe not the best ones, haha.

Australian Open! The timing is so off for me but I still care! Just a little less so because no Rafa. ;__;

URGH you're telling me! I was so giddy all of yesterday and watched till the bitter, bitter end at 1 am (in my time zone). 7-3 is a pretty bitter pill to swallow. Although I guess Booth and Kesler are still out with injuries, so our second line's pretty skimpy. I caught some of the Canes' game - it was pretty bad, sorry Mei. Everything was sloppy, and Semin and Skinner BOTH need to learn to chill out and take penalties only when it's worth it (a fight to pick up the team's spirits or to prevent a sure goal). Semin's always had a problem with that, and hopefully the new coach will be able to straighten that out, and Skinner should grow out of that this season. (And I adored the dynamic between the Staal brothers <3)

But there are months ahead, so hopefully all the teams can get their stuff together, because last night was entertaining in a terrible, terrible way. But it reminded me of how much I love hockey and I am SO GLAD IT'S BACK! (:

oh man, see, this is why all the preseason speculation means so little when you're going game by game - broadly speaking, maybe some of those predictions will come true, barring injuries or swings in momentum or other unexpected things, but really the most important thing is each game. But it is still the beginning of the season and the Canes didn't have much time to figure each other out; hopefully they settle in better ;__;

Ugh I'm sorry about Vancouver's loss too though I have to admit I think it's really cool that Teemu Selanne and Jaromir Jagr both ha such good nights.

But still YAY HOCKEY. Every day. :D

lol oh man, I was not sober enough for any more serious an analysis of their play than THEY WERE A HOT MESS, WHAT WERE THEY DOING. I'm hoping more time together will help the lines all gel better, because it was just...ridiculous. I haven't seen hockey that disorganized in a long time. D:

This is why overhype and so-called superstars don't matter that much ;__; It's more important to have a team of consistent players who have good chemistry with each other.

Well, Muller is still experimenting with line chemistry, so lines keep changing. I think they were incrementally better today than on Saturday but...yeah. DDDD: throughout.

I've been watching the Ravens-Pats game along with hockey and the second half was SO much better for the Ravens. :DDD I'm happy they're going to the Super Bowl & definitely will be supporting them (and not just because I hate the opposing team like I hate the Pats lol).

I was happy for Soupy too but ughh honestly i was more disgusted by the Canes. :( Let's see if they can get their shit together soon.
