I've never heard of lud-in-the-mist - hope mirrless but it sounds like interesting early fantasy (of which I've read very little).

I forgot how I encountered it but probably through Neil Gaiman pushing it as early fantasy. It is also something I'm less familiar with but think it sounds interesting enough to try! (There is plenty of early/foundational fantasy I don't plan on reading and am at peace with that.)
