history is what we make
I am a Rafa fan first and foremost, but Nole is a close second, and never really cared about Murray until his tears after losing last year's Wimbledon and then OH ANDY MURRAY, DON'T BE SAD. So while I was rooting for Djokovic to at least play hard and make it a tough match, I wanted to watch Murray make history with a Wimbledon win. At last, at last!
And he did it! And sadly Nole looked pretty far off his game for most of the match, but that last game was at least incredible, fighting back from three championship points and getting at least four deuces, I believe.
But Andy Murray's shock and relief and disbelief and inability to remember to hug his mother -- ! PLEASE CRY TEARS, I WANT TO SEE YOU CRY AND CUDDLE YOUR FACE. YOUR FACE.
Plus his Twitter is adorable:

The match also made me want all kind of Djokovic/Murray fic, particularly after I'd read this excellent accidental marriage/universe swap fic previously. There is not nearly enough Djokovic/Murray fic! The entire world ships Roger/Rafa and I am sorry because they are a ridiculous pair of giggly BFF, but I cannot ship them as some part of my heart will forever resent Feds. (Sorry Feds. You are a classy guy who did a classy reddit AMA, but my heart is unreasonable!)
In related though more serious news, got linked to this article today:
Tennis Has a Doping Problem — Rumors of banned substances have long swirled around top players. Wimbledon champ Andy Murray has pushed for more testing. What’s the holdup?
It was a really fascinating read for me, particularly as I don't follow tennis closely enough to be aware of the rumors dogging the top players. That said, I find myself unsurprised, especially in this era. Much like technology develops faster than the laws to regulate it can be written and enacted, I feel like, in pro sports these days, certain new methods of boosting an athlete's regular abilities are being created before they can be fully monitored or regulated.
(And therein could lie a separate argument about which drugs are ruled inappropriate and unfair enhancements and which will become the new basis of "normal". Think about medicine, for example - so many involve altering hormones or brain or body chemistry, but are considered normal or accepted medical practice to administer them. Would you argue it's an unfair advantage to give one person anithistamines to deal with their body's natural rejection of allergens? No. But obviously there's a difference in competitive sports, particularly where you're benefiting monetarily as a result. But I digress.)
I think Federer was right to say it's probably naive to think there's no doping in the sport, but at the same time, without better organization and transparency, the suspicions will (as they have) disproportionately fall on the top players, fairly or unfairly.

I've rooted for him ever since I caught a match he played in Wimbledon 2011 when the landlady I was staying with in Wales had it on the telly

I am completely out of the loop for kpop fandom, but I know friends who are very much reading and writing Exo fic so it's good to know that's still booming.

Exo fic... I .. just.... I ..love it . Can't help it. Other than a very few rare authors still writing DBSK or QMi, this is currently thd best bang for my buck. I think the twelve of them actually lend themselves to the concept of fanfic. And the authors out there are certainly having a ball.:)
