Free! episode 10 made me sad for everyone, even Rin, even though I still hate his character archetype (which is not entirely his fault), and now I am tired of this gay swimming anime giving me feelings. :| If I wanted these goddamn feels, I would (re)read and wallow in endless TSN fics, thanks.
If I were to elaborate, I would talk more about my growing amounts of love for the development finally being given Rei and Nagisa. I honestly didn't expect them to address Rei feeling like a fifth wheel/outsider, but I'm really glad it's come up because, seriously, everything is about Rin-chan. He essentially drives the entire series. This is not inherently a bad thing: it was always clear from the beginning that it would be primarily about him and Haru, but Haru has been far more reactionary, in my opinion.
Everyone was right about episodes 5 and 6 basically being the beginning and end of Makoto's backstory and development and it frustrates me a little because his role in canon is basically to serve as the steady counterpoint in Haru's life to the catalyst that is Rin, and I wish fic fulfilled my needs of developing Mako more on his own, separate to how his character archetype serves Haru's. And I know I am so guilty of this too -- shipfic often ends up this way, but goddamn can't we have some shipfic that also demands character evolution? Fuck, I want some angst before my MakoHaru happy ending because if they don't work for it, I'm not sure I buy it at this point in time, and I ship them.
Though I can also see the seeds for Makoto/Rin, and my biased little heart would love a dirtybadwrong Goro/Makoto, or Amataka-sensei/Makoto, or even (inexplicably) Seijuurou/Makoto.

forochel to write her everyone/Makoto until I stop having feelings for this anime (which, despite complaints, I love for those very selfsame complaints -- silly and lighthearted in premise, and then unexpectedly investing you in the characters!).
Fuck, maybe I should just go reread and wallow in those TSN fics.
