Sports update:

Premier League: Well, Liverpool continues the trend of my teams disappointing me. They managed to come out of the first leg of Champions League play with 3 points, shockingly the only English side to do so, and then return to disappointing me in PL. On the bright side, Everton lost to Crystal Palace and Frank Lampard equalized for Man City against Chelsea. Sweet schadenfreude. Also, Man United, you give me some cold comfort in being worse than we are this season. Merseyside Derby next week is going to be interesting.

NFL: Avoiding the serious talk about the controversies for now, because I have strong feelings about this but cover it incessantly for work, which makes it wearying. Panthers are surprisingly leading their division, which I will take. Big game tonight against the Steelers tonight. My usual "Fuck Pittsburgh" mantra carries me through here as well.

NHL: Giroux out with lower body injury. Oh G, this is why we can't have anything nice. But preseason starts today! Caps host both Flyers and Canes!!! I am out of town for the Canes game but may be able to make an outing of the Flyers game with some people. :D Hockey returns! Looking forward to it, and also being surprised about who moved where during the offseason, because I remember being surprised when all the moves happened, but I've since forgotten half of them, I'm sure.

Fandom update:

Have put off watching the S4 finale of Teen Wolf because I heard it was ridiculous, as if the rest of the season weren't ridiculous enough. I enjoyed keeping up with it anyway, mostly to see how ludicrous it got. Still love Kira and Lydia, and am super fond of Malia and Braeden, and have realized I'm really pretty meh oh most of the dudes. Oh, excet for Mason, Liam's ultimate BFF. HE IS SO GREAT. And that one prep school frenemy of Liam's; he had potential! (For fic.)

Free! has been a mess of shipwars, apparently, so I'm avoiding that entire fandom. I feel like Season 2 was a pointless mess retreading the same problems and themes as had already been addressed in S1, but I did enjoy the new characters, so there's that? And Makoto's character growth! I'm attempting to write futurefic for them (set in uni) , but it's slow going, as writing always is.

Started my reread of KomaHoshi! Through five volumes now, and at least 17 more to go. :D Love this series. I've reread the first half so many times in the past few years waiting for the rest of the series to be slowly scanlated that it's super familiar; I really need to spend more time on the later volumes.

I really don't understand the need for Free! shipwars. :/ Like, is it not obvious that the entire show is just a bunch of puppies in a pile and you can pretty much pick any two that you like and run with it? (Or that it is safest just to ship ReiGisa and be done with it?) I'm more drawn to MakoHaru out of all the Haru pairings but I can totally see and support where RinHaru is coming from too, so I guess I don't get what the big deal is. XD

I ship MakoHaru because, haha, it fits all my preferred shippy pairing dynamics, but I totally see the RinHaru. Hell, you could make MakoHaru work if you wanted to. Or HaruRei or tons of other ships! That's the glory of this show, like you said. People just...get intense feelings, I guess. And the need to tell other people they're wrong to validate their feelings? I'm glad I outgrew that need, or maybe am just too old and tired to participate now lol
