adventures in watching things that are not sportsball

Shows that make me happy this week: Elementary, Running Man, Ouran.

Elementary - the new ep (s3e7) was lovely. Really liking prickly Sherlock who annoys but doesn't necessarily offend Joan, who knows better now. The mystery was a bit...pat, but character and dynamic-wise, it was fun. Kitty was great and continues growing on me. Sherlock being lazy and called out for it was great. Ms. Hudson was back!

Running Man - 223 was a really fun episode. Never has rock-paper-scissors been so epic. The foreign guests were fun with the mix of English and Korean, and getting a glimpse of their cute personalities. I'd like to see more of them, I think. Fabien is a dear and I hope he gets to come back. And everyone looked really nice in their suits today.

Ouran - rewatching Ouran and it is, as I remembered, a fucking delight. Five episodes in and I'm already edging into my need for fic, angst fic. Man, I love everyone, but Kyouya. Angst galore. I love it. But for now it is primarily still crack and lampshading ridiculous shoujo tropes, and doing so in a way that's great and fun.

Going to check out Abnormal Summit, another Korean variety show, which is full of foreigners in Korean holding a mock international summit to discuss ~issues~. I've heard lots of good things about it, although I also know Zhou Mi guested recently, shared a story about his mom getting mugged, and getting shit on Weibo from Chinese ELF for "betraying his country". Christ alive, Chinese ELF, please fall off a cliff. Collectively. I'll carry Zhou Mi in sunshine and sparkles into the loving arms of all his girlfriends and boyfriends in Taiwan.

...but I digress. I'm going to check out Abnormal Summit!

Sports is a disaster (though the /r/hockey Canes fans are adorable). These are my avoidance tactics. The closest I'll get in the next month or so to sports is considering a reread Slam Dunk. :) Greatest sports manga ever? Definitely among them, anyway.

Oh -- and attending the Dallas @ St. Louis game the Saturday after Christmas. That'll be fun. First home Blues game!

I've also heard good things about Abnormal Summit (haha,my prof from my Korean business class recommended it). From the clip that we saw in class, it's funny (which makes sense since it's variety) and it's really informative about culture, etc. So entertaining AND you get to learn!

ahaha I am bad at timely responses to comments - we are both watching now! I will fit in at least 1 more ep today, maybe 2, depending on what I have to do. and then I will write up a post sometime also about ALL MY FEELINGS in an effort to get other people to watch and enjoy.

YES. And it is great! I will write up a super long post soon about all my feelings, haha. It's hilarious but also thoughtful, and brings up stuff to debate or consider, so that's very cool.

Endless Ouran feelings. ♥
