So flist. Help me out. What would you do if you had HP7 sitting on your desktop? I know some of you do and some of you could, but help me out here. Would you read it or wait?

Part of me doesn't want to be spoiled for the book release Friday night. I want the anticipation and the guesswork and the "magic moment" of opening the book, knowing nothing.

But the rest of me is going WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK YOU HAVE DEATHLY HALLOWS READ IT NOW.

I... would probably get it, just so I could say I had it days in advance, but then I would wait and read it (fully) for the first time on the release day.

There's nothing like the scent of a new book -- the feel and weight of it in your hands -- to put you in the mood for a good, long read.

Plus if I read it online I'd automatically go "WOW, WHAT JKR-STYLE WRITING THIS FANFIC AUTHOR HAS! :O!"

Your idea is a nice one. I SHOULD GLOAT AND BRAG and then totally not read it until I buy the book.

I'd read it, as I'm not really into the whole "book experience." A story's a story right? :P

But if you're really a fan of HP, I think you should wait, so that you can squeal and gape without worrying about eyestrain. That and reading a book provides a more convenient atmosphere than reading from the computer monitor.:D

I am only fearful that I will not have the time I'd like to sit down and read it through like I want to. RL and family interferes, because they don't understand the "experience" that HP warrants, especially the last book. XD

I have it on my desktop at the moment, actually. And I think it is going to end up deleted and unread. I can't bring myself to even unzip the file. This is the last one, and I want to be holding the book in my hands when I find out how it all ends. Which makes me feel like a big nerdy loser, but whatever. :|

I haven't unzipped it either. I was on IM with a friend who was reading it but she managed to not spoil anything for me, though her excitement was, you know, more tempting. XD

I do want to hold the book and read it! But I'm terrified of the epilogue. I don't even know what it is but it's got all my friends in a :|-reaction type knot. alksjflk It's driving me crazy, imagining what's going on. And I'm the type who refuses to skip to the end for HP books. (I'll do it for any other book but not HP, if I'm to have waited so long already...)

I don't like reading on the desktop, and I mean, you will have the book soon, and don't you think you would be more happy to open the book, and read it, not like sitting on your desk, but like sitting in your favourite chair or any other place you like, with something nice to drink, and only you and your book... I think that's way better...

Actually, I WOULDN'T read it. I just found the files and god that quality would kill your eyes, trust me. The guy photographed them at a 45 degree angle and it's HURTS to read, not to mention that some words are illegible.

I verily agree! I much prefer real books to ebooks (or in this case blurry photographs of the book), even though I am dying to know what happens. I hope I have enough time to read it because my parents are determined to drag me all over the place Saturday afternoon. D:

I love that icon to pieces.

I definitely wouldn't read it. Part of it is because I kind of like the idea that for two days, a large portion of the public is going to stop whatever they're doing and read the book. The other (larger and meaner) part is that a lot of the enjoyment of my post-reading experience is watching fandom explode in reaction. Safely from the sidelines, of course. It wouldn't be as much fun if I had to wait days for that to happen.

Actually, I think I read a newspaper article about something like this earlier today. It was about some asian guy managing to get 60% of HP7 through scouring the internet and gathering photos of each page of the book... Something like that.

Personally, I'd wait for the actual release date so the reading of the book'd be that much sweeter after 4 days of torturing myself xD Reading the book beforehand, however, gives you the right to "HAHAHA" at all the other HP fans who don't know what the hell is going to happen in Deathly Hallows >:D

Yup, the zip files I have are photographs of the entire book as taken by some crazy person when they got their hands on an advance copy. The stuff people do for HP, man...

I have been guilted persuaded into waiting for the actual book, haha. I'm trying not to spoil myself in the meantime. BUT OH GOD SO SOON. \o/
