Every few months, I realize I've accumulated way too much crap I want to share and fangirl with people, so I make a giant rec post. This is everything (I've remembered) since the last post in July! reaction. I typically am fairly sceptical about non-magic AUs, since magic is what makes Harry Potter so special for me. But someone recced this on the![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-community.gif)
harrydraco comm and I was feeling daring and adventurous that day, so I clicked the link... I continued being sceptical as I read the first few chapters, because, though the writing was good, it was all about six-year-old Harry and Draco. They were cute, though, and so I stuck it out. It paid off. The later chapters are phenomenal and wrenching and lovely. There's angst, drama, fluff, humor--you name it. It's one of the best (of the admittedly few) non-magic AUs I've read for H/D. I definitely recommend you try it out. It might not be your thing--but it might surprise you like it did me. (P.S. Fantastic Snape.)

reaction. My first reaction was--that is the most ingenious crossover I have ever seen and it's too bloody fabulous to put into words. I keymashed in my head, and my thoughts actually went something like "alkdjfldk!!" Then I actually read the story. Then I cried. I admit I'm a sap, but this was just--so apt. A little more closure than JKR thought fit to give us. And her DEATH? Spot-on perfect. There will be tears, unless you are made of sterner stuff than I. (There will likely be tears even if you are made of sterner stuff than I.)
» Read the sequels too, which are all equally amazing in their own right with focuses on different characters. I have a favorite, and it's the one about the twins, and you are not to be surprised. Mischief Managed, The Station Clock Said 12, Ticket to Ride, On the Wrong Track, Terminus.
**I recommend these stories so much. If you've read Deathly Hallows, please read these fics. Please. You don't even need to know Pterry.

In A Consummation Devoutly to be Wished bymirabellafic, Harry is called the Boy Whose Arse Is Apparently Like Veela Catnip... which led to "Harry's arse being like Death Eater Catnip." If that gives you any indication of what this fic is like. ;D

summary. Yet another one of those Harry And Draco Are Forced To Be Together By Something Beyond Their Control And Then Stuff Happens Leading To Twoo Wuv stories. Because every HD writer has to write at least one.
reaction. This fic is far more serious than the summary may lead you to believe. It's long and intricate and has shot up to one of my favorite H/D fics of all time. It's been a few months since I've read it (belated recs, I know, I know), but what I remember best was the pacing. It was real. It wasn't rushed or cliché and didn't feel like a plot-device. And the other thing that made my heart turn over for this fic? The portrayal of Slytherins. I adore Pansy and Narcissa unspeakable amounts. This fic is a classic, so most people have probably already read it. If you haven't, DO IT. I swear to God. You're no H/D fan if you haven't. D:<

reaction. ...pretty much I was floored by this fic. It is novel-length, epic, and very well written. It's intricately detailed and well-thought out and very, very plausible from what we knew of S1. It's just...wow. I wish I had more words for this, but I'm so in love with Nathan and Peter. They're fabulous in this fic, especially because you truly get a chance to get to know them since it's so long. Character development for the win!

Post-Shippuden speculative - There are a lot of interesting thoughts in this post about Sasuke and Naruto and Team 7 in general in terms of what will happen in the future. Will Sasuke live or die? I was spoiled for life. :D This remains my favorite movie!verse fic because it is incredibly cute and subtle and wonderful. I really love this girl's writing style. She has a skill, especially with not-quite-but-still-there-endings.

reaction. I never even considered this pairing until she wrote it. And then I kind of fell in love with it a little. It's so easy, it seems. (I think Shiwon's become my fandom bicycle. Why is he so in love with everyone? See later fic recs, omg.) What really pinged me was how easily affection became something else when Shiwon wasn't paying attention. The ending is another one of the not-quite endings that I love so much.

I love Heechul so much. And I love Shiwon so much too, for all that he only says one word in the entire fic. It's in the unspoken gestures.

reaction. The so-commong second-person POV (Sapphy's right; it's ridiculously popular for some reason)--but it works in this case. I'm a little sceptical as to some of Shiwon's reactions, but hey, what do I really know? And whether or not it's totally in-character (oh I have so many meta thoughts on this), it makes for a good fic. Surprise ending of sorts. In a bad way. But in a good way. :/ You'll see.

Platonic love can really sometimes be one of the most beautiful things in the world. But of course I am aflutter over the KiHae. You have no idea (especially since it's not movie!verse, eee).

reaction. This is currently my favorite SuJu fic. It's future-fic and it's-- It makes me cry, because it's about losing touch and moving on and changing lives...but it's also about never letting go completely and rekindling friendships and remember what's important. It's about the members six years in the future, after Super Junior, and it's about finding each other again. What makes me cry are the themes in this fic, not necessarily the fic itself (I'm not yet that crazily invested in SuJu, I promise), because I hate the idea of losing touch with people who for a brief time were some of the most important in your life. But this fic is not nearly as angsty as I'm making it out to be. It's quietly painful but still hopeful. Please read it. ♥

reaction. The best PR-conspiracy fic regarding Kangteuk fanservice I've seen. For one thing, it makes the backstory believable, plus it hurts. In very good ways. I'm so in love with Kangin in here, confused as he is. "It's weird. It was always weird." Oh bb. I would buy into this.

It's fantastically funny and makes fun of Teukie for being the oldest, and makes fun of Kangin in general. Man, I love these two so much. It was so easy to persuade me into Kangteuk, lol.

Okay, the story is not actually supposed to be funny, but the premise is hilarious: The whole idea behind the fic was that our lovely Han is new and doesn't know Korean very well so when somebody jumps his bones, he doesn't know how to say "no". Okay, it sounds terrible, but you gotta view it in the right frame of mind. I love this fic. I love Hankyung so, so, so much. "Hello!" made me snicker for minutes on end. Shiwon is cute when he is desperate. :))

It handles the issues of other!self exactly the way I love to see them handled, because I've always believed that, no, it's not the same person, even if it's you from the future/past/alternate universe. You are not interchangable. There are consequences. And this fic--♥. Oh ShiHan. I like it so, so much.

I have to confess I've been picky about the stories I've read--DBSK doesn't do it for me, EunHae makes me avoid it like the plague, etc. I am terribly fond of the Kangteuk, of course, and the Shiwon/Heechul/Hankyung triangle, and the wonder that is sly!Sungmin. Kibum/Sungmin freaking hot, yo. There should be more of it. Give it a try.

summary. Pre-debut. Angsty. Corniness, emo!Teuk, corniness, messed up storytelling, unoriginal stolen title, corniness, etc.
reaction. Read it first straight through. Then read it according to the Roman numerals. This fic really packs a punch--I love these kinds of angsty fics because they can do that. I love the formatting-play. That's another thing angsty fics can do better than, um, non-angsty fics. I'm so the opposite of eloquent, but this fic is wonderful. It's also what made me start to muse on SuJu's stage personalities, but that made me too introspective so we will save that meta for another time.

reaction. I never know how to deal with Eunhyuk in fic. I love him on his own but he never seems quite right to me in fic... Anyway, that's actually irrelevant because I'm reccing this fic for Sungmin. It's creepy and tragic, the way he's characterized in this, but even more so for the fact that there must be a grain of truth behind it. It's an interesting way to see him, but it breaks my heart. Still, read it, because it's haunting and hurting in all the best ways.

reaction. I have had this huge soft spot for Hanchul ever since watching the YSMM with the two of them, and that clip where Heechul tries to pack himself into Hankyung's suitcase when Hankyung is preparing to leave for China for two weeks. The amount of genuine, sincere care and love Heechul has for Hankyung does me in. I adore both of them so much and the way their relationship can slip so easily into something more like described in this fic...seems plausible and warm and like something wonderful. I love best how Hankyung's never realized it himself, how it's just been true all along.

reaction. Is it gratuitous? No doubt. Is it fun? Incredibly so! I confess, it is mostly the KiHae driving me now (though the moments of Kangteuk and ShiHan make me happy too, heh.) This rec sucks. Go read it, because it's funny and fun. :D

reaction. alskjdfl I love this song so much. I can put it on repeat for ever. It's really grown on me in the past few weeks, especially with all their performances. I love how hardcore they try to be. I love the English translation of the lyrics. I love their new look and their hipthrusts, and I love this clip because Eunhyuk does Teukie's part and Teukie does Henry's part, and there is just incredible amounts of funny and cuteness abound.

I continued being sceptical as I read the first few chapters, because, though the writing was good, it was all about six-year-old Harry and Draco. They were cute, though, and so I stuck it out. It paid off. The later chapters are phenomenal and wrenching and lovely. There's angst, drama, fluff, humor--you name it. It's one of the best (of the admittedly few) non-magic AUs I've read for H/D. A little more closure than JKR thought fit to give us. And her DEATH? Spot-on perfect. There will be tears, unless you are made of sterner stuff than I. And the other thing that made my heart turn over for this fic? The portrayal of Slytherins. I adore Pansy and Narcissa unspeakable amounts. The amount of genuine, sincere care and love Heechul has for Hankyung does me in. I adore both of them so much and the way their relationship can slip so easily into something more like described in this fic...seems plausible and warm and like something wonderful. reaction. alskjdfl I love this song so much. I can put it on repeat for ever. It's really grown on me in the past few weeks, especially with all their performances. I love how hardcore they try to be. I love the English translation of the lyrics. I love their new look and their hipthrusts, and I love this clip because Eunhyuk does Teukie's part and Teukie does Henry's part, and there is just incredible amounts of funny and cuteness abound.

reaction. Don't Don in all black suits is a sure winner, because I have this huge, huge weakness for hot boys in suits akdjfl. Way to hit my buttons, SuJu! And then Marry U was so very cute--the first time I saw it, my heart leapt into my throat at the gentlemanly gestures and Donghae rapping and Heechul being so very disinterested in his female partner, LOL. I'm so glad this song is their next single; it's really growing on me and I can't wait to see the MV!

I've gotten especially fond of this song recent, and I'm still "KiHae = OTP" all over the place (except not, but, well, it has a special place in my heart regardless), so this was just very aww-inducing.
