Leeteuk doesn’t like to admit it but he knows he plays favorites sometimes. There’s Kangin, of course, because there will always be Kangin – they’ve known each other forever and Leeteuk can’t help it. What Leeteuk doesn’t talk really talk about (and what other people don’t really know) is how much he loves Donghae because of the way Donghae calls him repeatedly, homesick and needing reassurance (no one else will do), or the way he will wake Leeteuk at four in the morning just to say, “Hyung, I missed you,” and the way he’s moved so easily to tears when he finally hugs Leeteuk after two months away. Leeteuk loves the way Donghae makes him feel needed and wanted. He loves the way Donghae makes him feel, above all, special.

"Look at his arms," Donghae hisses to Sungmin, who only nods, because he's been in the same class as Kibum all throughout junior high and now high school. He's been through this phase.
So Sungmin only laughs when Donghae sits down beside him at lunch the next day and moans, "Not only is he hot, he's smart too! How can he be the school's best boxer and still have time to play soccer on the weekends and manage to take all those advanced classes?" He looks greatly upset for a moment and then he brightens. "I'm going to join the neighborhood soccer league!" he confides cheerfully and Sungmin groans because could Donghae's crush be any more obvious?
"He's tutoring me in calculus," Donghae reports a week later, beaming. "And I'm getting him to help me with chemistry on the side."
"You don't take chemistry," Sungmin points out, confused.
"Not that kind." Donghae leers and Sungmin rolls his eyes.
Two weeks later, Donghae says, distractedly, "I saw him in the showers after boxing practice yesterday." He sounds faraway and his eyes have a sort of glazed look to them that suggests to Sungmin exactly where Donghae's mind is, and it's not in class with Sungmin but in the locker room showers from the day before.
Three weeks later, Donghae tells Sungmin that he and Kibum have started going out to eat after their weekend soccer games and sometimes hang out and play video games after their tutoring sessions and Sungmin sighs and hopes it will end well because Donghae is really, really head over heels.
Four weeks later, Donghae is grinning ear-to-ear bright and early in the morning before classes have even started and Sungmin exclaims, "Oh my god, Lee Donghae, how the hell did you bag him that fast!"
Donghae just keeps grinning and doesn't stop all day. He still tells Sungmin some interesting things about his and Kibum's relationship, but he doesn't mention the make-out sessions or the one time Kibum caught Donghae staring at him in the showers and invited him to join him or the blowjob Donghae gives Kibum right after one of his boxing matches in celebration. Sungmin is glad, because he'd really rather not hear.
But he does laugh every time he hears the girls in his class grumble about how no one knows who Kibum's dating, but it must be someone pretty hot to score someone as goodlooking and popular (and with arms of sex, Sungmin's heard re-emphasized multiple times) as Kibum.
Also possessive, Sungmin notes idly when he sees the hickeys Kibum wears around carelessly.
