i better get at least 300 comments on this post zomg >:(
A writer is not entitled to feedback of any kind. We put our shit out there for people to read, they'll read it or they won't, but they don't owe us JACK for the privilege of reading what we spew. By the same token, readers aren't owed fic by an author. We write and publish it because we'd like others to read it and enjoy it, because we want to express something or tell a story. It goes out into the void and if anyone shouts back, fine. If they don't say a damned word, that's the cost of doing business. It's the risk you take when you put something out there for people to read. They might love it, they might hate it, they might say nothing at all. If you can't handle it, gtfo. —madlori @ Fandom Wank
I love a good entitlement wank. Yet all these arguments are so familiar to me - and I realized I've seen them all over and again on
What do you do if you get, gasp, only 60 comments on your newest WIP chapter? FLOUNCE, OBVIOUSLY.
I'd be open to srs biz discussions about the merits of feedback/c&c/comments in general, too, because I think everyone generally likes comments. That's cool. But holding fic hostage or feeling like you're entitled to a certain number of comments (because of all your slaving and hard work over your fic? or all of your sheer genius?) - that's just, to quote a friend, RICOCKULOUS.
In totally different news, OH MY GOD I LOVE YOTSUBA&!, WHO ELSE KNOWS THIS SERIES? T___T ♥♥ I want to snuggle it close and make everyone read it - it's just so much happy-making. (If I weren't supposed to be studying for finals right now, I'd totally make a pimp post!)
And also, manga icons manga icons I have missed them. I need to go acquire more they are so expressive because you can exaggerate those awesome facial expressions akjdsdfjl. CLAMP ART IS SO PRETTY WHY.
NEXT PROCRASTINATION: Revamping & reuploading all my icons!

it's even better when the crappy writers whine about comments too xDI don't think I've ever received 60 comments on a fic ever, wtf who gets that many comments anyway? what's wrong with appreciating what you get, and writing just for the sheer joy of writing!
no subject
Because obviously people never just write for the sake of writing. WHAT JOY? WE'RE ONLY HERE FOR THE ADULATION! Which we totally deserve! Because we are super-fantastic-fabulous writers of geniusness!
Honestly, even if you are an amazing writer, you're not entitled to comments. I'm always surprised by people who really think they are. The girl in question apparently once complained about a "drop in readeship" on a fic that had 7 pages of comments. Wow.

But lol holding fic hostage. I'd probably comment to just say "HEY IDC :D"

Fic hostage just strikes me as defeating the entire purpose of writing aksjd ugh.

I haven't read Azumanga Daioh, but I did watch it. :3 Lovely and random, lots of fun, but I think Yotsuba just aksdjfl hits that nostalgic childhood spot for me.

Admittedly, when I get more comments, it is easier for me to be excited about writing more. The encouragement is there and it's nice. I'm more likely to lose interest in something without that kind of interaction to facilitate ideas and excitement (although laziness on my part is also a detracting factor, lol). But it's not something anybody should be held accountable for. :\
Plus, I'd rather get five thoughtful comments than fifty "omg ur great write more plz" comments. I was just talking about this with someone last night.

That's almost as bad as people who get all wanky because they didn't get enough comments on their music-posting communities - for chrissakes, I don't owe you shit. Thanks for uploading, but uh. Seriously? Wanking because the download:comment ratio is really low? IT'S NOT EVEN YOUR MUSIC.
YOTSUBA&! is the one with the little green-haired girl and the sunflower? If so, omg that's by the same mangaka as Azumanga Daioh, jlkjsf; so adorable. ♥
no subject
Yes! Yotsuba is the little green-haired girl and she is frickin' adorable and also I love Azumanga Daioh. :D But Yotsuba more because the series really hits home with refreshing take to life and golden innocence of childhood~ ♥

NO NOT AT 300 OMFG IT MEANS YOU GUYS DON'T APPRECIATE ME. I am leaving LJ FOREVER.
Yotsuba is super random and cute - just about a green-haired little girl's everyday life. But so good, idek!

Speaking of comments, did you get the RICOCKULOUSLY long comment I left on the birthday fic you wrote me? Because I don't want you to think I'm a RICOCKULOUS entitled little shit. D:
...
...RICOCKULOUS. I'm sorry, I just fucking love that word. XD

alskfjd also yes I totally got your comment to the bday fic and I totally failed at replying because life ate my soul (and free time T_T). But I'm super happy you liked the fic because the comment made me all :D :D :D ♥!
...RICOCKULOUS is pretty fun to say, isn't it? >:D

I don't know what's good for me and am scrounging for manga to read again, so uhm what is Yotsuba about? /curious!
no subject
It depicts the everyday adventures of a young girl named Yotsuba as she learns about the world around her. (uh, better summary here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yotsuba%26!#Story))
It's really cute, so feel-good. Great pick-me-up and nostalgic about childhood (like Calvin & Hobbes is) and aslkdjfd. Random. Fun. I love it. :D No overarching plot, just everyday life. No big morals or themes, very subtle way of emphasizing hat childhood is carefree and should be enjoyed. Um...what else to say about it? Ridiculously cute.
Also, online here (http://koiwai.biz)!
