i better get at least 300 comments on this post zomg >:(

A writer is not entitled to feedback of any kind. We put our shit out there for people to read, they'll read it or they won't, but they don't owe us JACK for the privilege of reading what we spew. By the same token, readers aren't owed fic by an author. We write and publish it because we'd like others to read it and enjoy it, because we want to express something or tell a story. It goes out into the void and if anyone shouts back, fine. If they don't say a damned word, that's the cost of doing business. It's the risk you take when you put something out there for people to read. They might love it, they might hate it, they might say nothing at all. If you can't handle it, gtfo. —[livejournal.com profile] madlori @ Fandom Wank

I love a good entitlement wank. Yet all these arguments are so familiar to me - and I realized I've seen them all over and again on [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants.

What do you do if you get, gasp, only 60 comments on your newest WIP chapter? FLOUNCE, OBVIOUSLY.

I'd be open to srs biz discussions about the merits of feedback/c&c/comments in general, too, because I think everyone generally likes comments. That's cool. But holding fic hostage or feeling like you're entitled to a certain number of comments (because of all your slaving and hard work over your fic? or all of your sheer genius?) - that's just, to quote a friend, RICOCKULOUS.

In totally different news, OH MY GOD I LOVE YOTSUBA&!, WHO ELSE KNOWS THIS SERIES? T___T ♥♥ I want to snuggle it close and make everyone read it - it's just so much happy-making. (If I weren't supposed to be studying for finals right now, I'd totally make a pimp post!)

And also, manga icons manga icons I have missed them. I need to go acquire more they are so expressive because you can exaggerate those awesome facial expressions akjdsdfjl. CLAMP ART IS SO PRETTY WHY.

NEXT PROCRASTINATION: Revamping & reuploading all my icons!

I'm too amused to be sarcastic back at you, really XDDDD because THAT'S JUST HOW THEIR LOGIC SEEMS TO WORK.

Really, I just don't get it :| I guess some people probably do start writing in fandoms because they want to be cool and get comments, but really, it shouldn't be about that D: and whoa, what, 7 pages?! that's insane, and she had the gall to complain about a drop when there were already those 7 pages?!

Where is the sense in this world!!! :(

Fandom oft does not use Earth logic.

I wish it did! I like logic, I enjoy logic, I feel bereft without it! cast adrift in the wild seas of fandom and internet! :(

also, I've never actually seen an example of fic being held hostage before, but now I REALLY REALLY WANT TO. SO I CAN LOL AT THEM. I'm surprised this hasn't happened in suju fandom yet :O

I think most hostage fic happens over on FF.N with people saying at the end of each chapters I'm not going to update if I don't get at least 10 reviews for this chapter!!!1

Pretty painful. :( But most of FF.N is pretty painful...

what a shame! I stopped bothering trying to find decent fic over at FF.N years ago XD
