On a related note, since I've been watching the World Cup and most of the commentators are non-USA, basically everyone's been using international terms like "football" and "pitch" and my exposure to football has always been through my international friends, so those are the terms I use. When I said something about "pitch" last night at dinner, all my friends stared at me dumbly and said they had no idea what I was talking about. ;____; Ugh.

Xabi might have been on the Spanish national team, but he was never one of the shining stars. Spain has too many divas, lol. Then again the last time I heard of him he'd moved to a pretty reputable club...was it Real Madrid? so maybe he's in the national team!

I'm not very sure about the details, but FIFA was trying to get a high bid from the cable companies here and in the end the deal they made was $70+ for the WC package. My dad and I are past the crazy footballing phase, so we decided not to pay so much. As a result we only get to watch the matches played on the FTA channels, and that's maybe only one match a day or something :|||

It's ridiculous that Singapore viewers have to pay $70+ when other countries are getting it for free.

I can never understand baseball. My dad tried to explain it to me once, but I got so confused. Football is way easier XD

Yeah. I think I read in the papers that FIFA was pushing it up because it knew that Singapore was a football-mad country and people would pay to watch the WC :| Also because we're not allowed to have satellites at our homes here, unlike some other countries, so really the only option we have to is to buy the package from the cable companies.
