celebrate your victories while you can, England!

ENG 1-0 SVN

England Party Post | England Party Post 2

Let's celebrate before the inevitable heartbreak on Sunday with GER v. ENG. I can't lie, I'm not optimistic. But let's party it up while we can!

Mad props also to the USMNT for pulling off a (literal) last-minute win against Algeria. I don't even feel bad for Algeria anymore because apparently an Algerian player hit a female journalist post-match. What the shit is that, mate?

I'm not going to repost my tweets today because there are many and they are all incoherent. I have never been as stressed watching a game as I was with today's Group C games. Group D I was a little calmer about because chances were good the entire time that Germany would move on. :) And then Ghana got to move on too, yay! African nation representation!

So first let's have some Becks & suggestive, compromising pictures of footballers, as promised in the cut-text.

Capello & Becks in smart 3-piece suits, both very pleased.

Becks is somewhat less pleased with Rooney. Rooney, you did much better today than in previous games, but you still gotta step it up! Don't let the hair-depression get to you; Becks means well...

Honestly, the entire English NT did a hell of a lot better today than I've seen in their past games. They actually looked like they were trying and that they wanted to win. What is this actual running about and trying to score thing? Must be new.

Or, really, it's just the magic of the red kids. Even though they are polo-less.

(OT: My god I love Stevie's stupid accent. I love everything about him, dammit!)

(OT: Somebody stop me from writing footballer slash; I'm writing Akame, I swear.)

More Becks:

Old pics of Becks having a friendly tumble with everyone's favorite GK-captain:

(That's Iker, I mean. Becks/Casillas!)

On the topic of gay football loving...

Lampard & JT, before JT was a douchecanoe and slept with another teammate's ex-wife. Is it because Lampsy threw you over, JT? Or did he throw you over after your epic bout of Assholery? Oh well, I dislike you as a person, but as long as you're contributing on the pitch to England's win, I will keep my disgust and bitching to a minimum. Morals, I compromise them for sports.

(Tangential anecdote: David Villa escapes official sanction for his infraction during the Spain v. Honduras match, i.e., smacking a Honduras player in the face with the back of his hand. Extenuating circumstances, blah blah blah, he probably deserved to be suspended, honestly. But like I say: morals are for losers, and I'm selfishly glad Villa will still be around to keep scoring for Spain. Though here's hoping he's smart enough to figure out he was fucking lucky to get away with this so maybe he'll stop the temper tantrums in the bigger, more important games, and focus on not missing fucking penalty kicks.)

This is one of my favorite compromising-position-what-the-hell-are-they-doing-don't-they-know-how-that-looks football pics:

(Alas, I have no idea who the guy with his hands up Stevie's shorts is. My, Stevie's kind of a bicycle, isn't he? Everyone gets a ride. If I wrote footballer fic, there would be Stevie/everyone. It exists in my head.)

Another cute picture of Kaká because everyone seems to love him:

But, sorry kids, Kaká only his eyes for his BFF Ronaldo.

Fuck my life, you guys. I am starting to hate Ronaldo less and less. He is still a diva and stupidly theatrical on the pitch, but but - he and Kaká are BFFs who speak Portuguese together and play together on Real Madrid and call each other every night. Ronaldo called Kaká about his red card and said it was unfair! Do you see the way they giggle (manfully) together at the end of that video when they are asking each other questions?

asldkghdfjkl damn the slash fangirl in me, I'll never be able to unship this. Fuck.

But hey, Deustchland won! And looked damned fine in their black kits!

Their party post is here and for some reason features a ton of SPN gifs in the threads.

In conclusion, if ever there was reason to join [livejournal.com profile] ontd_football, it is for the locked post that celebrates the heart-stoppingly gorgeous (and evidently very bashful and sweet) Yoann Gourcuff.

Here is a sample of some of the pictures:

LOL

~*~This is the Yoann love post.~*~

Nando celebrates England's victory by trying to be a boybander:

Seriously, football's ruined my life. Why can't I stop spamming?

To all Canadians over in Ontario & Quebec: earthquake! I hope everyone is all right. ♥ What on earth is the world coming to?

FRIDAY IS LIKE MY HOLY GRAIL except wrong simile WHY IS IT ON A FRIDAYYYYYYYY

[identity profile] herocountry.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
i got sent home early bc the bank closed bc of the earthquake :D

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
yes I know, you told me over MSN...

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yay for Ghana! They play USA on Sunday aslkghfj I wonder how that will go. All I care about really is England v. Germany, boooo. Shitty luck. :(

As for CIV v. SUI, there is I think a CBC stream. There are other non-country-specific streams, I think? Check out the ontd_fb WC posts because on each of those they have links to where streams are carried. I don't even know what time the games are but I'll figure it out before Friday. I'm so tired. I took a nap and it's messed with my head and my appetite has been thrown off completely. I haven't been eating proper dinners at all this week basically. /sigh

[identity profile] herocountry.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
oh....

yeah........

[identity profile] herocountry.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
:( who are you rooting for, england? why do you think germany will win D:

no i mean like, i can't watch it at work? i know there are streams but i wouldn't be able to watch them live and idk if they replay later/if i can download them later :(. :( :( :( forever.

WHY HAVEN'T YOU BEEN EATING

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
It's okay, the earthquake rattled your brain. :( Or you are getting old!

My memory's shot lately, especially with regards to football. I keep flailing about everything to everyone so I forget who I've told what to and end up telling the same person the same thing about 3x. Whoops.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, England was team of my heart before Germany does. :( I mean, I will be depressed if England loses but it might be for the best because Germany honestly has probably a better chance of going all the way whereas if England won the game, they'd probably just go and lose their next one. Ugh.

I guess i think Germany will win because they've put in better performances and effort so far? Whereas the only time England actually looked like they were trying was in today's game and they still only managed one goal (against a not even very high-ranked team). :(

Oh yes, streaming at work would probably be a bad idea. Um, idk, i would ask around ontd_fb or check online. Apparently the USA replays the WC matches at night during primetime; I didn't know this until I turned on the tv at, like, 8pm and saw Portugal killing NK all over again and I was like, whut, do not want to see this again. /turns off tv

MY APPETITE HAS BEEN KILLED IDEKY. :( I will subsist solely on coffee and tea.

[identity profile] herocountry.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
i think also it's because i took a nap; everytime i sleep and wake up i feel like it's a BRAND NEW DAY

[identity profile] herocountry.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
I am so sad that the games from now are like SUDDEN DEATH. pressureeee. and aw, england D:

yeah i'll probably ask on ontd_fb ;_; I can't watch them replayed on TV BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE TV i am so depressing. frets frets frets ;_;

you will shrivel up

[identity profile] intomorning.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Yay, congrats to England for moving onto the Round of 16! :D

OH MAN, today's game made me really like Germany! Now I recognize players and feel affection for them outside of "Hey, I just noticed you b/c you're good-looking!"

[identity profile] intomorning.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Even though technically most of my affection is based on "Hey, I just noticed you're good-looking..."

[identity profile] intomorning.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Er, sorry for the ninja comment, but can you get ESPN3 in Canada? The website does streaming and replay.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
HOW WILL I CHOOSE BETWEEN GERMANY AND ENGLAND? T_______T

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
hahaha. My fondness for Podolski stems mostly from that plus he's young and usually does very well. Not his best game today, I think, but still yay for Germany advancing. (Damn them for being top of the group and facing England. I really would've rather they faced the USA...)

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
I am shriveling up rn. /rolls idk, I feel sort of meh physically & mentally & emotionally. urgh.

SUDDEN DEATH will be sad and even more stressful. I will be so pissed/heartbroken if one of my 3 teams (esp, eng, ger) don't end up doing really really well. Like. Winning the WC well.

[identity profile] intomorning.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I would've rather seen a US-Germany match-up, too. :<

I like Podolski! And Müller! Also, how cute was Ozil & the team when he scored today?

[identity profile] intomorning.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
HOW DO YOU LISTEN TO YOUR HEART WHEN YOUR HEART WANTS OPPOSITE THINGS?

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
I like Germany's team pile-up celebrations after they score! :D Super cute. ♥

USA-Ghana will be hard because I feel obliged to support the USA but Donovan annoys me and I'd like to see an African nation do well... Oh man, Sunday will be tough on the nerves.

[identity profile] herocountry.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
:OOOO will they replay the whole game or just highlights? i don't have TV but maybe i can find espn3 somewhere online...???

[identity profile] herocountry.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
u r a meisin :(

YEAH :( you have a good chance though!! those are all good teams

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
ESPN3 is an online stream, not TV (http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=espn3). It plays the whole game, I'm pretty sure. I should've thought of this since it's where I was streaming the USA game, but I'm not sure whether all countries have the same access since ESPN's a US-based company. Maybe the other streams suggested by ontd_fb also have replays?

[identity profile] intomorning.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Any time the team I support doesn't score in like the first half, I get super antsy and I'm like wringing my hands and it's like I can't watch anymore (esp. as time gets closer and closer to 90 minutes and the team I support is either at 0-0 or losing by a point, etc.) but at the same time I can't tear my eyes away.

At least I've gotten better at not yelling at the screen. -_-;

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
haha when it's that close I keep watching because I am so desperate for a win or draw and at least it's possible. It's when it's total destruction like Portugal v. NK that I have to look away because, ouch, even though I wasn't expecting a NK win and wasn't really supporting them...ouch. 7-0 is too painful to watch.

I usually take out my frustrations on twitter or msn with lots of keymashing and cpaslock, lol. Today's Eng game was the first time I was actually shouting out loud at my TV. Had to clutch a pillow and try to muffle myself since it was 930 in the morning, lol.

[identity profile] intomorning.livejournal.com 2010-06-24 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Also, how are Kaká and Ronaldo so cute together? >:3 I've always liked Kaká b/c he seems so nice & he's a good player (he almost died and stopped playing football, but he kept on going! O:) and I've never really seen Ronaldo play, so in my mind he's just the Theatrical Diver, but awww, their friendship makes me :"D.
