oh man that first goal, lucky as it was, was AMAZING to watch. our entire pub sort of exploded with cheers and disbelief and applause. amazingggg. must go rewatch clips of that. 8D

I feel like Portugal will be v. shove-y like they were w/ Brazil. Sigh. Dude, did you see how Duda and Pepe were like ~writhing in pain after they made contact w/ Brazilian players? I didn't notice that many dives by Ronaldo though.

I wasn't paying attention to names today. D: All I noticed were #5 and #15 on the Portuguese team overreacting to every little touch and running up to the ref and waving their arms around demanding someone be punished. No wonder the ref was throwing around yellow cards. /eyeroll

Ronaldo shockingly did not dive that much! He was a little selfish (possibly) with the ball but I think maybe the rest of his team kind of just sucked, which is why he ended up dominating so much of the possession... But besides that he didn't really play up the dramatic divaness. I WAS SHOCKED. And a little appalled because where is my entertainment? ;_;

ahh yes that would make sense, about the #s and also about Ronaldo. I did see some hilarious gifs of Ronaldo being a diva from old matches though lolol. I bitch about it but it's mostly for fun; I think part of me just accepts it as part of football. And the other part of me is a dramawhore and finds it all kind of entertaining...

I have to say in Torres defense that the gif people keep posting make it look like he tripped himself but another angle shows that there was contact, so he wasn't diving. :( Though the overreaction afterwards was meh and the red card was harsh. BUT LIKE I SAID, WHATEVER IS GOOD FOR SPAIN IS GOOD FOR ME. orz

I can't really tell. On one hand, it does look like he kind of tripped by himself, but on the other hand, it looks like the player grazed his leg. Idk, if you're running that fast (and you're recovering from a knee injury), even slight contact could throw you off? (I heard that he got the second surgery in April and that he starting training again in June? And it's still June.) Also, he didn't get that penalty kick when he was shoved in the box. *is biased towards the teams I like*

hahah I also read those threads and, yeah, I am more than willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because of his injury and because he doesn't really have a history of/reputation for diving.
