omg Andrea I don't know where to begin with you. You have SO MUCH SKILL in writing - you don't have to believe me but it's true. You're witty and engaging and compelling. You could publish your blog as a book and it would sell, no lie. (I've said this before!) I admire how strong you are and have been for your friends, your engagement with serious issues and care with them, your ability to push yourself to finish a whole novel. (With more to come!) You're different from I am in a lot of ways I really respect, admire, and envy - but you never come off as anything more than approachable and human. OH SAPPHY, w-inds.!! Now I have to go play this song and weep gently over how much I loved old!w-inds. and how fond I still am of them even if I...pay no attention to them anymore (except via Rii's updates and HER ADVENTURES WITH KEITA).

But I digress. You! Basically one of the things I love about you is that you are unpredictable and in good ways - you defy stereotypes, in brilliant ways! You game, you like horror movies, you fangirl pretty Asian boy bands, you enjoy trashy BL. You like shoujo manga but you like sports/shounen manga too! You enjoy immature jokes (the entirety of Jin comes to mind, lmao) but can hold thoughtful meta discussions about fandom. You are complex and diverse and that is something wonderful about you. I love how much you treasure your friends and college memories, too. It's always awesome to see people staying in touch.

ALSO, HOW WE HAVE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR FOREVER NOW. And are still friends despite all the ridiculous fandoms we've been in/drifted from. :D

Hi youuu. It is strange to me that we have known each other a fairly short period of time (comparatively!) but it is so easy to be close! It is strange that it was so easy just within days of meeting you! Urgh I love your face and your Heechul love, firstly, because that is how I got to know you, haha. I love that you can slip between American English & Singlish! I like that you enjoy fandom without taking it too seriously, that you can multi-ship and enjoy yourself (ahaha Khuntoria!!), that you treasure your friends and take spontaneous trips and make memories, that you get angry and care about things even when people are stupid about them. You are smart and fun and already I feel so comfortable with you. I HOPE WE GET TO HANG OUT MORE IRL IN THE FUTURE. ♥

So, some of my favorite things about you that make you great: YOU WENT FROM PREMED TO LAW. I know you're not, like, the only person in history to do so, but it still boggles my mind, that you can do both and own both with the same kind of ferocity & intensity you generally just...attack life with. :D In a good way. Like you attack your drawing days haha. Your love of random Chinese music! I just really associate alan and Han Hong with you for some reason. Your attraction to kickass shounen but your indulgence in ridiculous BL too. I really admire your energy towards life - okay, to be fair, you are exhausted all the time AND YOU NEED TO SLEEP MORE but it's because you LIVE VERY INTENSELY. You are pro-active! You don't sit around wallowing and thinking too much. Although you need to take more do-nothing breaks, for real. ;)

Dear Liz! Some things that make you great: YOUR LANGUAGE SKILLS, I AM JEALOUS FOREVER. Seriously, ask me to take an exam other than elementary-school-level math in Chinese and I'd basically cry and fail. Your love of fruit! And tea! The way we can talk about anything or nothing (or, more usually, what you are eating). The way you work hard and care for your family and are prone to sharing my biases, hehe. The way we can read across dozens of different fandoms when bored. I feel like I've met you already - it's sad that we haven't. Gem, Gem~ One of the things I most admire about you, actually, is your love for Singapore and your expression of that, without being unafraid, at the same time, to be self-critical. Blind hate or blind love is depressing, honestly, but to celebrate the good and still be able to be aware of the bad really reflects your maturity (& your love)! And this speaks to you as a person, too. For example, you are willing to stand up for your friends and stick to your convictions but are open to new perspectives too. I can't wait to meet you in person and talk more and get to know you even better, because what I know of you is already lovely. askdhfj oh Prissy, we have not known each other that long, relatively speaking, but it has been so good and so easy between us! To be honest, I was a little worried at the beginning what we'd have to talk about if it wasn't fandom, since neither of us were really in fandom (or I wasn't, before SJM, damn them) when we met up, etc. But you are just so easy to talk to about anything! And I am so glad I got to know you beyond a fandom level anyway, to know the real person behind that. You were so welcoming and friendly and thoughtful! You care about issues that are not easy to care about, no matter where we are, but particularly shaped by the Asian values dominant in Singapore. louise, louise what can i say that i haven't said a billion times before? :) all of it remains true though, but let me see if i can come up with some new great things about you. your absolute enthusiasm for spanish and new experiences and new foods and new things in general! it's a scary thing but it can be rewarding if you have the right mindset, and i love how you seem to be making the absolute most of your time in spain. your silliness no matter how "old" and "mature" you get. how we can span anything when we talk, football or anime or kpop or western tv or chinese songs - the trips we had, our futures, our families, self-doubt, etc. this is what a shared history is like and i'm so, so grateful to have one with you.

there's the way you will try new things but are still comfortable knowing who you are, fundamentally, knowing your own likes and dislikes, the boundaries of what define you. you won't let just any new fad sweep you off your feet and change your mind ten times in a week. it's the happy middle of being open to new things but not losing sight of yourself in the meantime.

Mishy, we will probably never get away from how young we both were when we met, because it continues to amaze me, especially the older I get. Of course neither of us were as wise as we thought at that age, but you were still remarkably mature and well-spoken and fun to talk to (oh the days of old - Tezuka toast! comment spamming!), and remain so. You've really developed a lot in terms of handling your own life just this year in London; you kind of have to, I suppose, it being uni and you being so far away from home. It's still amazing to see. :D I love your passion for pursuing archaeology (not the predictable path!), your enthusiasm for fandom and RL friend pursuits, your flailing over so many things. You are always friendly and open, even if we share differing views on things or react to things in different ways or are in completely different fandoms; it's good to have other perspectives! You care a lot for your family and friends, which is more obvious than you think. :) In a way, I feel like I've watched you grow up - but you're certainly not done growing or becoming an even more fantastic person. /soppy ♥
