A collection of unconnected thoughts from the past week:
1. It's been two years since I've had borsch but it's still fucking delicious.
2. I...finally fell in love with beautiful hardcovers. Yes, years behind everyone else, probably. I've grown up always appreciating mass market paperbacks the most because they're cheap and light and made for easy reading and carrying around and, importantly for the anal retentive part of me, the same size when lined up on my bookshelf.
I hated annoying hardcovers for being heavy and bulky with dust covers that just constantly get in the way, but I guess I just never spent enough time at secondhand bookshops browsing the way they used to make hardcovers - like art pieces rather than for mass consumption with ugly dust jackets. Basically, I stared inappropriately and touched reverently in a way that would be creepy with people but is totally acceptable with books. Thankfully.
One day I will grow up and own a real house with a real library!
3. I watched the All Star Weekend 2012 and have developed a ginormous crush on Carey Price's snark. I have just decided that it's easier to assume that everyone is a terrible person and refuse to care about anyone off the ice, but if they entertain me on ice, I'm a fan. I've rewatched ASW 2011 many, many times, thanks to my Staal/Skinner/Canes love (as well as the Danny/Claude and Kaner/Tazer moments), but 2012 gave me new appreciation of so many players. In retrospect, it was a probably better that I didn't watch it until I knew enough hockey to know and care about almost all of the players because it was more fun this way. So many feelings. So many player crushes!
4. What the fuck. PARK JISUNG IS GOING TO BE ON RUNNING MAN. PARK JISUNG AND RIO FERDINAND. What the fuck. Also, obligatory "fuck Man United".
5. While I'm on the topic of Korean fandom, I only managed to catch about 10 minutes of the livestreaming Google Kpop concert last week because I forgot and also was too lazy to stay up for, but in those 10 minutes I saw f(x) (Victoriaaaaaaaaaa) and Seohyun do a solo. My thought process:
MEI: Wow, this song is really upbeat!
MEI: Wow, you're playing guitar all by yourself, Seohyun!
MEI: Aww, I bet Yonghwa isso proud stupid in love.
Apparently I tinhat them more than I knew. :D
6. I have come to the tragic conclusion that Claude Giroux and I are terribly unsuited for each other despite our shared love of grilled cheese sandwiches and chai lattes - and not just because he's, cough, already married and basic things like, you know, reality. I mean, he fucking loves bread. And I? I think bread is a fucking nuisance of empty carbs taking up space in my stomach. (Yet I love rice. BLAME THE ASIAN IN ME.)I just stopped myself from making a dirty joke here.

G is another golden delicious thing. I would keep him locked in my room if it weren't for the fact that I need him to be amazing on the ice. Can I at least have a puck bunny moment and FIND him? God. I would probably faint if I were to meet him in real life. Girl can dream I guess. In other words, Dannnnnnnny! <333333333

It is a good thing I have friends who eat mushrooms though, so I just pile mine onto their plate while they judge me. Whatever, as long as I don't have to eat them!

I haven't watched that ep yet but Park Jisung and Rio Ferdinand will be together in an ep coming up! It's kind of amazing how big Running Man's gotten.

BUT SADLY I DON'T LOVE BREAD. Well, I don't hate it and I actually do enjoy freshly baked warm bread but basically most of the time I'm like I'M EATING THIS BECAUSE I'M STARVING AND IT'S FREE (at restaurants) or I'm like NO GIVE ME RICE.

Also omg Carey Price.
CAREY PRICE.
WHY CAN YOU TAKE A PICTURE OF THE HORSE YOUR RIDING AND TEXT IT BUT NOT CALL SOMEONE I DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND.
But yeah dude recently joined twitter and there's this one time he was tweeting his sister and I was just like WOW HE SOUNDS JUST LIKE MY SISTER RIGHT HERE??
Ugh I just love sibling relationships and hockey players' twitters
Also whenever I think of Carey Price Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) automatically starts playing in my head

Also LA LA LA NOT LISTENING TO ANY BLASPHEMY ABOUT G AND HIS ACTUAL REALLIFE SEPARATE FROM 1) ON ICE, 2) BEING INTERVIEWED IN FRENCH, 3) DOING DORKY PR PIECES WHERE HE LIKE TAKES A TV LADY TO HIS FAVORITE TEA SHOP (TEA SHOP!!!) IN OTTAWA, OR 4) PLAYING SHIRTLESS CORNHOLE. Not listening to any of it.
Bread's better in Canada, trufax.
Hardcovers: I love 'em, too. I just got a first edition of a Rosemary Sutcliff book I love for like $10, shipped, from the UK, which is probably only $2 more than a trade paperback of the recent reprint. it's not that it's a first edition, as such, that I care about; it's that it'll feel sturdy, and the pages are sewn not glued to the binding, and the paper will be thicker and soft, and the typeface will be nice.
In conclusion,

Also, G is actually pretty awesome off-ice from what I can tell (and I've, uh, spent a lot of internet time on him, let's just put it that way), but in general I feel the need to divorce liking players on-ice versus as people, because. Yes. In that place where I'm reminded constantly of male privilege everywhere, all the time.
ANYWAY. Beautiful hardcovers are beautiful and definitely for keeps. Mass market paperbacks are still my favorites for reading, but that eventual library I build will have pretty, pretty long-lasting hardcovers. :D

I'm not alone! THANK GOD!
I'm still bitter about that last Harry Potter book messing up my beautiful straight lines. What was I going to do, wait for paperback?

(I also approve of your icon, yesss. Oh Teen Wolf, why is your fandom so big and yet ALL YOUR FIC WIP??)

that said you are forever wrong about mushrooms
also now i am heavily craving some of that whipped cream fruit bread from breeze cafe :(

But yeah prepackaged breads are so meh, but even the fresh loaves in restaurants I only eat if I'm starving. I don't know! My dislike is irrational! Well, no, I don't even really dislike it; just...disinterest?
I looooove the mass market paperbacks, but they're not built to last, it's true.

basically i love all food forever. eat ALL the things!
lol omg carey price was hilarious at ASW 2012, he is such a troll. too bad i didn't care about the habs during the season considering i live in montreal, but they did pretty terribly so maybe it was a good thing.
no subject
I really do love most food! Three things I don't eat (mushrooms among them, blech) but...some foods I have more strong outbursts of love for. :D
I have so many player crushes now, it'd be impossible to care about all their teams. I WILL STICK WITH MINE and just occasionally giggle over great players and their ridiculous antics. My plan for the next season~

Also, your soul amuses me. And by soul, I mean posts. Because that is your soul? Or something? I don’t know what I’m saying to be honest. *wanders off munching on bread to be creepy elsewhere*

My soul is a bit hung up on Claude Giroux lately and all the bits around it are just me pretending to be a normal person, haha. Honestly I'm just kind of surprised my non-hockey friends haven't disowned me yet for how hockey 24/7 I've been recently!

I used to get a wrist ache from reading hardcover books. On the other hand I bought a book from 1917 simply because of the age + cover. So. Pretty!

I...am not a bread connoisseur. Probably because I don't eat enough of it. Oh, I do enjoy Italian loaves though!
And there is definitely difference between rice grain types and how they cook/taste. :D Yay rice!

GLOOOORY GLOOORY MAN UNIIIIIITEEEEEEEED I don't even know what Running Man is but this amuses me. Greatly.
carey price is really really hot! I still dream of writing kaner/cary price pwp at some point in my life. some non-embittered point in my life.
I adore bread! once I bought a loaf of fresh bread from the bakery and then I ... ate half of it with butter because I was so hungry. and it was so delicious.
no subject
Yes, I...enjoy fresh bread especially when I'm starving, but otherwise I'm like SO WHAT ABOUT ALL THE OTHER THINGS I COULD BE EATING?
Carey Price is also freaking hilarious. :D

Having a library one day is one of my distant, should-happen-if-I-ever-get-rich goals, haha. Actually, I just want floor-to-ceiling bookshelves everywhere... but then what if there is an earthquake? .___.
I LOVE BREAD!!!!!!

Your concerns are colored by your time in Japan! ...earthquakes are not so much a worry here on the East Coast. Maybe hurricanes though.
