little me did not foresee bigger me growing into a sports fan

Reigning world number one Novak Djokovic has said that 11-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal’s prolonged injury break is not only a loss for the Australian Open but for the entire sport of tennis.

Commenting on Nadal’s extended injury break, Djokovic said in a recent interview, "It is definitely a loss for the tournament, for tennis, for sport in general not to have Rafa playing still on the court."

No Rafa in the Australian Open either. I guess I need Nole to keep on rocking it.

In other news, I am so so so excited the MOU finally got signed and training camps opened and we have HOCKEY BACK NEXT WEEKEND. Epic brunch and screaming at TV plans are in place, and I finally have a chance to wear my #28 Flyers jersey, under which I will probably wear a Canes shirt because I SUPPORT YOU, CAROLINA even if no one will broadcast your games. I hope you have the most amazing season ever and all the broadcasters curse themselves. Also, Jeff Skinner's hair better be for magical hockey reasons; it's only tolerable if he's our modern-day Samson and uses its power to draw ALL the penalties and score ALL the goals. Otherwise, I weep. The humanity...

I've been watching SO much NFL this weekend and last. Still mad about the Redskins following the lead of all other Washington teams in making the playoffs, getting everyone excited, and then choking in the first round. SIGH. Okay, credit due: Caps made it all the way to Round 2 (HA HA BRUINS) last season before failing out.

Anyhow, I guess I am vaguely rooting for the Ravens to go all the way since they pulled off that spectacular underdog win over the Denver Broncos. That was a ridiculous game. RIDICULOUs. I also want the Pats to lose tonight because I hate all Boston teams, but my luck is never so good.

On the bright side: UNC finally won a conference game! Oh UNC. The commentators did point out the last time we started 0-2 in the conference, we went on to win the national championship though, so... /knocks on wood. AND DUKE LOST. LOSE EVERYTHING DUKE, ALWAYS.

Speaking of losing, Liverpool...please stop doing that.

So basically I am drowning in sports in my free time, and also SJM, who are never allowed to leave me again. ♥ And One Direction's new single is stupid catchy.

DON'T JUDGE MY LIFE CHOICES. THEY'RE EXCELLENT.

Noooo, Rafa :( Though yay for hockey and SJM being back in business!

In other news I really can't deal with 1D and their ridiculously catchy songs and stupidly adorable faces >w

I always knew he was pushing his body too hard. :( But I didn't want it to give out on him before he'd gotten all four Grand Slams! Rafaaaaa. I hope you come back okay. ♥ But yeah, for now Nole is my man. Keep on being better than everyone else!

Ugh stupid 1D's stupid catchy songs, lol. SJM's "It's you" seriously sounds like something they'd put out though. So cuuute.

MTE with Rafa;; it's never the same without him ;___;

Ah- did you end up receiving my card btw? ;;

As my two favorites, I am glad Djokovic respects Rafa so much and misses him! Kind of. I'm sure he's happy about winning everything lately lol.

Ooooooh omg I did! I thought I thanked you already on Twitter but it must've been in a dream. T___T Ack, sorry. But thank you so much! ♥ Christmas cards are like the highlight of my mail adventures.

Lol yeah I'm sure some players are breathing a sigh of relief without Rafa there.

Ah no worries, just wanted to be sure that it got there safely. :)

I want him to return to form to win the US Open at least once. T__T Isn't that the only one he hasn't won yet? Rafaaaaa.

YOU'RE NOT SORRY.

It's not like it's even hard to beat Liverpool these days, SIGH.

NO I'M NOT

I do honestly hope you don't get relegated, though.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2013-01-14 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah we're not that bad off. I mean, not great, but we're in the top 10 at least. For now. It would help to lose less though...

Even though I'm a Djokovic fan, I'm sad about Rafa not participating too. It's really not the same. :( It's going to be hard beating last year's Australian Open with Nole and Rafa as it's seriously one of the best matches I've ever watched in my life.

[identity profile] meiface.livejournal.com 2013-01-15 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, maybe now it's time for Murray to start picking things up after his Olympics win! That would be interesting. (Though I'm still pulling for Djokovic.)

And I feel like the women's side was always a toss-up, but the Williamses are back now, right? So hmmmm...we'll see how that goes too.
