Reigning world number one Novak Djokovic has said that 11-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal’s prolonged injury break is not only a loss for the Australian Open but for the entire sport of tennis.

Commenting on Nadal’s extended injury break, Djokovic said in a recent interview, "It is definitely a loss for the tournament, for tennis, for sport in general not to have Rafa playing still on the court."

In other news, I am so so so excited the MOU finally got signed and training camps opened and we have HOCKEY BACK NEXT WEEKEND. Epic brunch and screaming at TV plans are in place, and I finally have a chance to wear my #28 Flyers jersey, under which I will probably wear a Canes shirt because I SUPPORT YOU, CAROLINA even if no one will broadcast your games. I hope you have the most amazing season ever and all the broadcasters curse themselves. Also, Jeff Skinner's hair better be for magical hockey reasons; it's only tolerable if he's our modern-day Samson and uses its power to draw ALL the penalties and score ALL the goals. I've been watching SO much NFL this weekend and last. Still mad about the Redskins following the lead of all other Washington teams in making the playoffs, getting everyone excited, and then choking in the first round. SIGH. Okay, credit due: Caps made it all the way to Round 2 (HA HA BRUINS) last season before failing out.

Anyhow, I guess I am vaguely rooting for the Ravens to go all the way since they pulled off that spectacular underdog win over the Denver Broncos. That was a ridiculous game. RIDICULOUs. I also want the Pats to lose tonight because I hate all Boston teams, but my luck is never so good.

On the bright side: UNC finally won a conference game! Oh UNC. The commentators did point out the last time we started 0-2 in the conference, we went on to win the national championship though, so... /knocks on wood. AND DUKE LOST. LOSE EVERYTHING DUKE, ALWAYS.

Speaking of losing, Liverpool...please stop doing that.

Super happy the Canes beat the Wild. Drunk at 3PM on St. Patrick's Day and following the game on my phone because no one cares enough to show the Canes games anymore, lol. Skinner's out tonight's game against the Jets too BUT HE COMES BACK TO US SOON. /nibbles. God, he really is a life ruiner.

#3) I think we should spend a moment or ten on Tazer's thighs. We all know how I feel about thighs, right? Kaner would buy that in a bachelor auction, or let his kindergarten class climb all over them, or maybe drunkenly bite them as part of a training regimen to make Tazer less of a Canadian robot. Or maybe Tazer would woo Kaner with those thighs as he tries to figure out why he even likes this failure at life. (No, really, just visit every comment thread ever. Ugh, this fandom!!)

Another Carolina-Florida match-up tonight, as the Canes play at the Panthers. With my luck, they'll lose too, as all my teams have lost lately, probably out of spite. THANKS A LOT LIVERPOOL, KNICKS, UNC. Well, I don't blame UNC as much as I blame FSU. Fuck FSU.

While reading the news today, I ran across an article detailing last night's hockey game between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Washington Capitals and realized, torn somewhere between horror and fascination, that I recognized some of these names. Thanks, fic. I told you I learned useful factoids! Somehow, I'd always pictured Eric Staal sort of tall, dark, and vaguely scruffy like, I don't know, Eric Bana. Finding out all the Staal brothers are tall and very blond threw me.

Whatever, it's still all basically like original fic to me.

In Big Bang news! I didn't know Fantastic Baby was going to get an MV but I love it. It's so weird but so them, and it's so visually interesting. As much as I love Blue as a song, the MV was boring as fuck after the first view. The Bad Boy MV was better and I like the song a lot too, but I love all the weird-ass shit happening in Fantastic Baby. Now there's a band that gets a budget for their MVs, lol. Unlike certain other gigantic boybands who love to dance in boxes...

Big Bang on Running Man can be summed up in two words: Adorable Fail. Seriously. Only Daesung is any good at variety shows and it shows (and I love him eeee). I am so stupidly fond of their stupidity though: Seungri's terrible attempts at being clever, TOP's utter inability to run, GD's constant wide-eyed stress, Taeyang's cute little action hero pretense. PRETTY MUCH I LOVE THEM AND AM EXCITED FOR LIVE PERFS. ♥

In RL news! I have luck and super friends to thank for landing a job in the DC/Maryland area and am moving up there this Saturday. I am excited because yay job! Yay money! I am excited because it's in a great area with lots of people I know and love around. (Also a few people I don't love all that much but that's okay, I can avoid them - it's a big metro area!) I have my apartment squared away and I'm looking forward to packing tomorrow and Friday. Yes, actually, I enjoy packing. Don't judge me.

To conclude, I would like to point out that IT'S MARCH MADNESS. ACC tournament, NCAA tournament, I'm so ready for this. LET'S GO HEELS.

Not too much else has been going on with my life. Some work, yes, but that's not terribly exciting. The holidays! They were pretty low-key, honestly, with lots of food and so far no excessive family drama (keeping my fingers crossed on that one!). Mostly I am looking forward to enjoying my coffee or tea (chai lattes! LONDON FOGS! ♥ or, of course, the ever classic Chinese green tea) and lots of reading while I can.

Maybe I'll try writing again, too. I want to try writing in new fandoms! How do people start writing in new fandoms? It's so hard to get over my fear of characterization or the fear that everyone else is doing it better/has done it better, ahhh. Clearly the solution is just to get tipsy first. Then you won't care. (That's how it worked for me in Inception!)
