INTERVIEWER: In the 1.5 years of preparation (for this album), what do you most want to say to the fans?

ZHOU MI: Ah this time SJM has waited for 1.5 years, the fans have waited 1.5 years, we finally have a new album called "Perfection". (KyuMin nodding along like they understand) I guess you could say it's a brand new start. Hope everyone can continue to support us. We worked very hard on this album (looks at Kyu) to produce music that we love. (looks at Kyu, Kyu looks back) Whether it was our concept or our music or our dance, we all worked very hard. We just hope you can like our new album "Perfection".

RYEOWOOK: (supportive golf clap) (aksdhfldkjf he is always so sweet T^T)

INTERVIEWER: Can you first introduce the members newly added to SJM?

KYUHYUN: [Korean] This time while preparing the new album, we added two new members: Sungmin (looks at him while Henry puts his hands on Min's shoulders :DD) and Eunhyuk (ZM gestures at Hyuk, Hae pets him, RW says "wow!"), who have helped make our group even more "perfect". (SO MANY PERFECTION PUNS IN ALL THEIR INTERVIEWS) Like the title of our new album "perfection", Eunhyuk's dancing and Sungmin's singing have brought a lot (helped us a lot).

(passes mic to SM, SCOOTS BACK INTO MI becaudse clearly SM needs five feet of personal space in order to talk)

SUNGMIN: Hi everyone, I am Sungmin. I would like to...kiss (SO CUTE, EXCEPT THE WRONG TONE) all of you.

(the rest of them giggle and ZM corrects his pronunciation, and SM repeats it earnestly, learning alskdfjd /pinches his cheeks)

EUNHYUK: [Korean] Hi everyone, I am SJM's Eunhyuk. (Henry peers at him childlike.) [Chinese] I am Eunhyuk.

INTERVIEWER: Were there any difficulties when Sungmin and Eunhyuk were recording the album in Chinese?

SUNGMIN: [Korean] This was the first time I recorded Chinese songs; honestly speaking, I found it very difficult. I studied with Zhou Mi. Every time we were recording, Zhou Mi would help me a lot (looks at Mi as my heart goes MIMIN MIMIIIN). Although it was difficult, we finished recording the songs in the end..

EUNHYUK: [Korean] (Note: with the help of kitschful checking the Korean, because the NetEase Chinese subss left a LOT out) Unlike Sungmin I was quite perfect. (Henry laughs) First of all, I have a lot of skill in languages so the Chinese recording was very straightforward. Zhou Mi.. worked hard too (bursts out laughing can't keep deadpanning) Truthfully, Zhou Mi, while checking my pronunciation, said okay to everything very quickly, though I don't know whether it was because it was good or whether he just gave up.
ZHOU MI: You did good!
EUNHYUK: That's right! He always encouraged me like this so I could record the Chinese with confidence, quickly, while having fun. (Miiiiiiiiiiiii♥ T^T)
EUNHYUK: The song "Love is Sweet" has a Chinese rap part which was really hard. (Henry laughs at him) I also had a lot of Zhou Mi's help in order to work hard and record this song. I don't know, when the Chinese fans hear the song, will they like it?

INTERVIEWER: When Eunhyuk came to China, he had to end his DJ activities in Korea. Are there any regrets?

(lots of HenHyuk as Donghae continues to space the fuck out)

EUNHYUK: [Korean] Rather than giving up on activities in Korea... Uh. Since the management's decisions in the beginning to make Super Junior M, the M unit, I've wanted to be a part of it but as things fell out I was not able to join them then, but at this time I can! Well, this, uh I read this in a book, it said 'You have to let something go to gain/grasp something else' or something like that, that I saw in a book (starts laughing) So uh through activities with SJM hopefully I can grasp something new and I will work hard and do my best. (askdhfhgs)


INTERVIEWER: In this album, was the concept created by the members themselves?

(I would just like to take a moment to obnoxiously point out that qmi continue to sit pressed up against each other for no reason at all)

ZHOU MI: Most of the concept was prepared for us by the stylists, but before we began to film the MV, we had an opportunity to have a meeting with our stylist to discuss what kind of result everyone would like. We all wanted to be able to show the most perfect (more puns), most unique, and most different style. Because before, in SJM's first and second albums, we went for more "sunshiney" and "handsome/cool" styles. This time we went for more...mysterious (shen mi / 神秘). (Here he pauses to look pleased at himself for using "shen MI" - YES WE SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE, MIMI) (Note from evaporate: "shen mi" is funny because 神覓 is actually the name of his biggest Chinese bbs forum, pun on 神秘 XDD www.zhou-mi.com)

(Donghae fidgets in the background)

ZHOU MI: The most important is that we're using this "Perfection" album as a new starting point, so we wanted to be able to bring a different feeling. (nods) So...do you like it? (giggles)

KYUHYUN: (turns to watch him giggle) Like it.
ZHOU MI: (giggling) Do you like it? Is it okay?
KYUHYUN: (nodsnods) More.
ZHOU MI: Ah... you like it more?
KYUHYUN: I like it more.
ZHOU MI: (still laughing, turns to KH, who is still nodding at him) Ah, (you) like it more (compared to the previous albums).

(Donghae puts his hands on Kyu's shoulders :D for fun and profit :D)

INTERVIEWER: So this new album included a work by Jay Chou and Fang Wenshan. Can you talk about working with them?

ZHOU MI: (opens his mouth, Kyu turns to stare at him - Min also! So dedicated in learning :D) Fang Wenshan, this time...
KYUHYUN: (stares at him) Mmm.
ZHOU MI: (turns to look at Kyu) In our album. Jay Chou...
KYUHYUN: Mmm.
ZHOU MI: ...wrote a song. [Korean] Name. (puts mic under Kyu's mouth)
KYUHYUN: 幸福微甜. (nods, satisfied with himself asdkfhdj. Hae gives his houlders a congratulatory little squeeze :D)
ZHOU MI: (nods, pleased with Kyu) We're very happy to be able to have such an amazing artist write a song for us. Because Jay Chou is an artist Henry particularly likes. (looks back at Henry) So this time not only was Henry really happy, but all eight (because Siwon didn't come today) of us members too. All eight of us members were very happy. And the song was very good, the pronunciation was very hard, but all the members worked very hard to make sure the pronunciation was accurate.

ZHOU MI: Now this album altogether has 6 songs. In the past everyone associated SJM with dance numbers (ty evaporate ;^;). Now this time we're still like that, but aside from "Perfection" (the song), we've also added a lot of more lyrical (ballad-y) songs. In this album, honestly, most of the songs are ballads. Just hope everyone can support our singing. (passes mic to Kyu)
ZHOU MI: [Korean] what impression?
KYUHYUN: [Korean] (Hae continues to pet his shoulders) The impression of the song -- well the melody, I've always liked his music, so I really liked it. (Donghae pats Kyu's shoulders aggressively, while Kyu continues to turn towards Mi after every half sentence) We met Jay Chou before at the "Secret" (Jay Chou's movie) premiere. (looks at Mi as if for confirmation? as if Mi were there, Kyu, he was not)
ZHOU MI: (nods) A pleasure/gift.
KYUHYUN: [Korean] The pleasure of meeting him. Being able to work with the song he has given us. It's a new...
MI: [Korean] (nodding earnestly) New...
KYUHYUN: [Korean] Is this a gift too? (looks at Mi)
ZHOU MI: [Korean] Yes, a gift. (they laugh kalshdkjf ;A;)

INTERVIEWER: Did you meet Jay Chou again when you went to Taiwan this time for promotions?

(ZM passes mic back to RW, who has been quiet)

RYEOWOOK: [Korean] We are very thankful to Jay Chou for writing us such a great song. Last time when we went to Taiwan, we didn't have the opportunity to see him. We hope that in the future we will have the chance to meet him and, if there is time, the chance to eat with him and chat. (sob RW HOW SO CUTE >w<)

INTERVIEWER: Is it true that you've thought about collaborating with other Chinese artists?

KYUHYUN: I think... [Korean] If there is an opportunity, I would like to collaborate with Zhang Hui Mei (A-Mei) in the future.
SUNGMIN: Zhang Hui Mei? (laughs)
ZHOU MI: [Korean] Alone?
KYUHYUN: (laughs) [Chinese] No, together, together

KYUHYUN: [Korean] A collaboration between just me alone with Zhang Hui Mei.
ZHOU MI: (hits him) (because he is thinking, like the rest of us, WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS, CHO KYUHYUN?)

SUNGMIN: [Korean] For right now we haven't made any specific plans, but if we really have the chance, China has a lot of celebrities. I hope that in the future we will be able to collaborate with Chinese music artists.

INTERVIEWER: Henry, can you talk a bit about your feelings about your self-composed solo?

(Hyuk whirls to stare at Henry, Henry takes the mic and is SO OUT OF IT omg)

EUNHYUK: [Chinese] Are you ready??
HENRY: =__= Ah, yes, I'm ready. Um, this time the album has my solo, called 表白. (pauses, stupefied) The English name is [English] "Off My Mind".
EUNHYUK: Off My Mind.
HENRY: This song I composed with a few of my American friends who do music from Berklee (College of Music in Boston). (thank you again to evaporate because in Mei's mind, instantly: Berkeley? Tablo? LOL no) Um, the lyrics were also written by me. Honestly, my Chinese is still not that great but... for everyone... I worked very hard to write this song... the lyrics AND the song... (awkwardly cannot remember the term "歌曲", which is what he is looking for, so he abruptly ends with just "歌") for everyone. I hope everyone can really like this song. (pause) Yeah.

INTERVIEWER: Have you ever personally felt the kind of feeling you're expressing in this song?

HENRY: Um, these lyrics are talking about... The meaning is... If you looked at the lyrics, they're like you're talking to the girl, the feeling like you're speaking to the girl herself. (SO TIRED, SO AWKWARD) So, um, for example, the first verse says (starts singing) "Girl, as soon as I see you, I go c-c-crazy, I just want you to be my baby~" (Hyuk sings along :D :D :D)

Just that kind of feeling. (nods awkwardly) Just that kind of feeling...

EUNHYUK: [English] Good boy. (LMFAO WHAT)

INTERVIEWER: Why have you continued to persist on focusing on writing for the albums?

(Mei flail: AND HERE WATCH DONGHAE'S HAND MIGRATE FROM KYUHYUN'S SHOULDER TO ZHOU MIMI'S "because it's basically the same territory" :3333 but also HAEMI, QMIHAE DO WANT)

ZHOU MI: Um.. well.. well, I have this dream--
KYUHYUN: Dreams.
ZHOU MI: Yes.
KYUHYUN: Castle of dreams~ (夢想的城堡 - a line from "Me," literally dreams' castle)
ZHOU MI: Uh huh huh. Yes. (laughing)
KYUHYUN: (also laughing)
NOBODY ELSE: (is laughing)
ZHOU MI: So I hope I can participate in the writing of every single one of Super Junior M's albums. In our first album, "U," I wrote three song lyrics, and our second album "Super Girl" I wrote two, for An Chilhyun (Kangta) sunbae I wrote lyrics, and then there's "Perfection"... Um.. I want to try out different styles of lyrics, for example, slow songs, fast songs, energetic and cute songs. And outside of lyric-writing, I recently also tried composing, but.. uh... I hope I will be able to make, uh, better music to let everyone hear in the future.

INTERVIEWER: Now because you've been helping them with Chinese. Could you talk about that, for example, who's most well-behaved, who's most naughty?

ZHOU MI: Most well-behaved student? Most well-behaved student.. well, they're all really well-behaved. Like if I tell them their pronunciation is wrong, they'll fix it. What was your other question? The most-- the most--
MC: Naughty.
ZHOU MI: The naughtiest student? The n- (= =|||||) Of course it's HIM. (points at Kyuhyun)
KYUHYUN: Me?
ZHOU MI: The naughtiest... because his pronunciation is too good, and I don't need to worry about it, so sometimes, if I were to say-- "Oh, Kyuhyun, this is isn't a very good pronunciation." he'll joke with me and say, "No, it's YOUR pronunciation that's bad. Like, "Gege, it's your pronunciation that's bad." But I think everyone's pronunciation in this album has improved really significantly from in the first and second albums. But aside from this, Eunhyuk and Sungmin ge - as the two new members this time, while we were recording, they were especially worried about their pronunciation, and were afraid they couldn't catch up with the other members. But their pronunciation is actually really good, and I'm really pleased with how their pronunciation turned out.
SUNGMIN: [Korean] Even though my Chinese isn't very good right now, I will work hard and learn Chinese. Since my teacher (Zhou Mi kekeke) is so good :) I really look forward to coming to China and participating in activities and concerts.

INTERVIEWER: So what were some fun things that happened during the recording? Some more memorable things.

KYUHYUN: [Korean] When we were preparing for Super Junior M's new album, we filmed two versions of the MV: Chinese and Korean. So it was double the time compared to the usual amount of time it'd take for recording work. For a normal MV it takes about two days--
ZHOU MI: [Korean] Three.
KYUHYUN:[Korean] -- two-three days, so it was hard on all of us.

INTERVIEWER: Well your new album is "Perfection," so give us a recommendation, in your opinion, which member would make the perfect boyfriend?

SUNGMIN: (stands up hahaha)
THERE ARE SUBTITLES FOR THIS BUT NO ACTUAL TALKING TO ACCOMPANY IT, GOOD JOB NETEASE: Don't misunderstand, Sungmin's just leaving.
KYUHYUN: I think... I think... [Korean] Yesterday, oh no wait no yesterday. (flustered) In my thoughts, the missing Siwon is the most perfect with the best qualities (everyone else nods along)
EUNHYUK: [Korean] We are one. When we are all together, we are the most perfect group. (crying so cheesy so lame so hyuk) (Henry gives a thumbs up)

INTERVIEWER: Now, about Kyuhyun, when he went to record a show in Beijing he sang "Tan Te (Disturbed)," so did you have any feelings about that? Can you perform a line for us here?

KYUHYUN: [Korean] So, when we were preparing for the new album, Zhou Mi and I were looking up the hottest songs in China, which ones were the most popular. Later I watched the "Tan Te" video, watched with Zhou Mi hyung, and then coincidentally the video came up again when we filmed in Beijing. And during the filming, a lot of fans and the hosts really wanted me to sing. There was no way I couldn't, because a lot of people were staring at me, looking forward to it. I will perform it again after I have a chance to practice more.

It is, as advertised, an amazing interview you will want to cuddle forever in delight! :D alskdghdjf seriously though, this interview, aside from the obligatory checking in with the new members, is practically the Qmi show. It makes sense for Zhou Mi to be talking a lot since he's the only really fluent member, but of course as soon as he talks, Kyuhyun has to take it upon himself to interject and contribute. (And then whenever Kyu talks, he keeps looking at Mi for confirmation, what is this, why why whyyy-- So cute.)

well, yes, Kyu's Chinese, clearly he is getting private lessons from Mi but I was really genuinely impressed with Wook! He didn't get much of a chance to speak, but he said a lot more in his intro than before and even though he probably memorized it, lol, it came out pretty fluently and accurately wrt pronunciation!

On top of all the so very adorable things that only QMi do, getting lost in their own world, the translation made me laugh so much. Don't misunderstand me. I love how every detail was incorporated, including gestures and Donghae molesting Kyuhyun's shoulders and nobody else laughing. LOL.
